1st, I think the 2nd is the new 3rd.Yea in the past typically it's the 3rd preseason game that is the dress rehearsal and the 4th is maybe a 1 series appearance for the starters to go through something then they are done for the night.
This year, is the new 2nd game the old 3rd game or is the new 3rd game the old 3rd game
I think Cam won't be playing much in preseason because they know what they have. They know what we know - Cam hasn't changed. The talent around him has, but he hasn't. What's really odd is that, knowing how bad Cam was last year, if they were all-in on Cam being THE guy all year, they'd be giving him 70%+ of the practice reps to whip him into shape. But Mac has had a larger snap count. It doesn't add up.If Cam isn't starting, it'd be very odd if he barely plays vs Philly. Will be interesting.
I'll be there with my adult sons, live posting if possible. Sometimes you see things in person that don't show up on TV. Edelman's rookie year, the "wally Pipp" game when he returned a punt for a TV,(EDIt TD I can't type) I watched Edelman the rookie instruct Joey Galloway , a seasoned veteran where to line up on several occasions... I knew then that Galloway was never going to grasp the Pats playbook and was a goner..Yea in the past typically it's the 3rd preseason game that is the dress rehearsal and the 4th is maybe a 1 series appearance for the starters to go through something then they are done for the night.

Cam's preparation is no longer "pristine."Not sure where to put this but Cam got Mac's middle name wrong, it's McCorckle not McClellan. Details, Cam, details.

That’s what I’m thinking. The third PS game, in the past, has usually been a starters game, and the 4th PS game is for showcasing who gets traded or cut.
This year, now that there's only 3 PS games.. does that mean the 2nd PS game is the starters game?
I dunno. I think BB is in the get-Mac-as-many snaps-possible-mode.
I also don't know the preseason games are being treated (see post to Froob)
Edelman won the halftime contest for the TV too!!?? There really is nothing that kid didn't do.when he returned a punt for a TV
If he doesn't play much against the Eagles it might be because he will be the starter, or it might be that he's been released. I think we see a full half of Cam Newton next week while Bill Belichick evaluates whether Cam can move the team. I think you'll see a full Cam package of runs and passes to get a read in real time whether he can still play QB at the NFL level.Given Cam's snap count, it seems he's almost certainly won the starting job. If he doesn't play much vs Philly, it is a lock.
Is your son making the beds of his "friends"........................................................................in a prison type setting?Drinking and posting...when done right, it leads to some, let's say interesting posts.
I'm not saying you're right or wrong but, If the team was going to get Jones some time against the "starters" for the Redskins and/or with the "starters" for the Patriots, it was going to have to cut Cam's start short. So I'm not sure that we can read anything into Cam getting just two drives, especially since this is the first year they're going with 3 exhibition games instead of 4..Given Cam's snap count, it seems he's almost certainly won the starting job. If he doesn't play much vs Philly, it is a lock.
Thought I'd pass along an observation from attending last night: About 65 minutes before kickoff, Mac was on the field not yet in uniform working closely with two coaches, throwing 40-50-yard bombs to corners of the end zone -- one coach alongside Mac, the other playing end zone receiver. The long end zone pass to Wilkerson during the game (which went right through his hands) made me think the long ball is something they want Jones working on.
It was nice to see a 6'0" 230 lb. rookie hit the #6 hole between two excellent blocks by third string linemen outrunning the Washington Football Team third string defense 91 yards. Great play, but not much use after cutdown day.Another note that I think needs posting, in a "let's not overreact" sort of way, is that Stevenson's long TD run was all about the blocking. He went completely untouched going through the defense. Washington didn't lay a hand on him until he had a full head of steam, downfield, along the sideline.
Did you see any evidence of @rainmaker 's verified weak arm?
True, but . . . . Hitting the correct hole with a burst is not always something Patriot fans have been able to take for granted. It was nice to see a 6'0" 230 lb. rookie hit the #6 hole between two excellent blocks by third string linemen outrunning the Washington Football Team third string defense 91 yards.
