The Dolts are taking a beating! They have lost their QB and best offensive lineman less than a week into training camp!
its the "Suck for Luck Curse". Ever since they purposely tanked the season to draft Andrew Luck, they have had poor luck with injuries (no pun intended).

Kind of agree with this.
We’ve been there though.
troy brown at corner rings a bell.

Great first padded practice of the day, though. Jones gags all over himself, Newton takes the next step toward securing the starting job, and Barmore injures his ankle. Successful first day, all in all.

I'm almost glad Jones had a bad day though. Gives us a chance to see how the kid responds to adversity. I'd be nervous as hell going into week 1 if he had just cruised his way through camp, waiting for that shoe to drop.

Barmore sucks a big one though. Hope it's small.

Basically, any year we've had to play our slot WR at corner, it's been a bad year for injuries.

It's the CDL, the Curse of the Deflategate Liars. One playoff victory (a wildcard game vs. the Texans) in 6 seasons since the Deflategate lies.

Don’t take me too seriously. I’m just trying to get into mid-season form.

EDIT: Barmore’s injury sucks a bag of ‘em, though. Hope that’s not too serious.

Jones 9/14
Newton 11/17

Maybe Jones' day was not as bad as it seems. Cam had more incompletes then Jones on only 3 more attempts. On 7/7's Jones was 8 for 8. Choked on 11/11's though. He's a rook and improving.

Maybe the fact that the team made some pretty stark changes at the position has lit a fire under his ass
And not one single other team likely offered anything when he had his agent make his "trade demand" also a contributor to his 'fiery ass'. Not having a future paycheck is a pretty serious motivator for most.

It's expected. 1st live practice in pads as a pro.

Seems Mac had a bad day, actually expected him to struggle at some point but am more curious to see how he deals with it now, does he improve, does he take the right steps and learn out of bad throws etc.
I have him rather experiencing many growing pains during camp and pre-season than being required to experience it mid season when he gets out and is completely surprised with what is thrown out at him.

He still has to learn and to adjust, but quite confident he will be able to manage it rather soon, so the more errors and obstacles he has to overcome in camp will help him to get experience and adjust faster to the NFL speed.

just can't wait for pre-season to start, it feels like no football since 3 years right now, thirsty for football

I agree and IMO 9/14 on the day is good for a 1st practice in pads as a pro. I wonder if they broke out in 2 sessions like yesterday where Cam was on one side running plays he did last year and Jones on the other side of the field running the usual TB type plays. I think that was unusual for them to setup the drills like that.

There WILL be a 3 or 4 INT day in his future too. Happens to all. Hopefully it's in camp/practice setting or preseason contest, but not guaranteed. As you stated, the key is how he bounces back (or if). How well and quickly does he correct issues? Do the set backs cause not just reflection, but growth?

Confidence is key. Faith in your ability, tempered with realization that inevitably there is a day that just isn't yours. Circadian rhythms, bad fight with a girlfriend, cheeseburger had mustard on it...whatever - the list of things that can contribute to a crappy "day at the office" aren't just football related.

Saw it on a twitter feed that Rhamondre Stevenson flattend one of the defensive backs , it may get posted later

It was Myles Bryant "he ran right through"

I think it's great that Harry did well - at very least makes any trade compensation a bit fatter. He does offer big-body block-them-out potential that no other WR on the roster does, although maybe that is less important now given the improved TE situation.

And not too surprising Cam did better than Mac when the pads came on - as has been pointed out, quick anticipation throws may not look as pretty when your receivers are being jammed or re-routed. And of course Cam's running threat likely draws another defender into the box.

I wonder how the other rook QB's did with pads on today....I bet Jones' 9/14 was better then most of the top 5 drafted.

From what I can see in the general NFL training camp thread, they're doing quite well (though we could only be seeing the highlight plays).

I thought I read Trevor didnt do so well...though I could be wrong.

To be fair, I haven't heard either way on him or Wilson (other than his contract situation). But Lance and Fields are getting a lot of buzz from what I can tell.
