PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Day 6 Training Camp Thread- Tuesday August 3rd

Actually saw quite a bit of positivity about Cam’s throwing today, surprisingly. Accuracy and touch. Very interesting and different than prior days… and Harry had a good day too. Huh.

Talking about the top 5 QBs drafted. None of them are going against what should be a top 5, possibly top 3 defense in practice. Hell most aren't going against a top 15. I think Fields is the only one that creeps into the top 15.

I also don't put it past a few of those coaches to give their rookie easy looks to build his confidence. I can't imagine any of them having a tougher day in practice than Jones. He has to learn and master one of the most complex offenses in the league, but do it while facing one of the best defenses in the league. All while having a coach that will do nothing to make it easier on him in any other way than coaching him up to the standard.

Wilson, has struggled in camp. Believe he had a "better" day yesterday. Dinglenuts Jr in SF has already said Lance needs to be near perfect to beat out Jimmy G. And what can you say about Fields that Nagy hasn't already. I mean it sounds like he has taken the bull by the horns here:

Nagy said:
“I think he really has the huddle part down in regards to calling the plays,” Nagy said. “He sees the play when he calls it, he doesn’t just read the play now. He’s past that. So you can check that one off. He’s got to continue to do that.”
And from Fields himself:
Fields said:
"I would say the hardest thing is just literally saying the play in the huddle,” Fields said. “In college, we got the play from the sidelines and we would get signals. So some of our play calls are longer than others. That’s why at night, the night before practice, we get our scripts and I just go through all our calls and really just try to say it to myself. That way when I actually do get in the huddle at practice, I’m able to spit it out quick.”

This after the draft, OTA's, rookie mini camp, mini camp and a week into training camp. He finally knows how say the names of the plays in the huddle. Really?

Lawrence has had strong reports, but again one of the worst defenses in football. Plus a coach I think will ****** the offense for him as well as give him generic looks on defense. Although I think Lawrence is the real deal and will be excellent if he is developed right.

So based on the reports I have been reading Mac is well ahead of l, at least, three of the four other 1st round QB's...at this point.

The players that fans have loved to hate all off season like Harry, Michell, Cam, Williams etc. A few seem to be having positive camps which is good in my opinion. Quite surprised that many fans seem to almost resent them playing well, surely if you are a fan you want the level of the team to be as good as possible overall and for the above players to come good rather than wanting them to fail?

This is going to be a fun forum season
People's concepts of enjoyment, fun, and contentment are really quite strange. It's no wonder the aliens not only keep coming back, but also spend an inordinate amount of time with cows. Maybe it's because unlike humans, cows don't SELF-mutilate.

I would posit that's what Cam is in a nutshell and what we've seen across his entire career. He is inconsistent across a very wide spectrum of skill and ability where he'll throw one ball at a WRs feet and the next play thread an impossible needle or chuck the ball 50+ yards.

The league knows this too. Play a lot of two high safety type looks, make him string together 9-12 play drives every time and the odds are good there's going to be a play or three that's either going to put his team in negative down and distance (10+ yards) or at least standard long down and distance (3d and 7+).

Just wow re: Nagy. His PR Department must be like: "Sir, that wasn't even "faint" praise with which to damn someone. Season ticket holders are getting nervous."
