Could very well be; but if Stid & Jones out-perform Cam during TC, scrimmages & pre-season games enough to give Bill confidence to enter Week 1 with them as 1/2 or 2/1, where would Cam go at this point that would give him a better chance to start anyway? He might as well stay here for awhile longer as the 2/3 and see what happens when injuries & ineffectiveness start happening throughout the league...

I don’t think he will have a say in it. If BB believes that Hoyer has more value to the team than Cam, then Cam will be released (or traded if possible). Seems entirely possible for QB3 which is mainly in the QB room where the main question might be: who has a better understanding of the offense and is a more effective teacher? (Not to mention cost.)

Newton has already pocketed $3.5 million in signing bonus and guaranteed salary. The remaining $1.9 million is in playing incentives and those incentives won’t be earned wearing a stylish hat while standing on the sidelines next to McDaniels.

Don’t think Bill would trade Cam. He would release him and let him find his own spot. Besides, considering the amount left in his deal for incentives isn’t that much, he could probably make out better financially this year pocketing what he’s already been paid in NE and signing another deal elsewhere for $5M or something.

If he cannot make the Pats I’m not sure that contract is available elsewhere.

People feel even if Cam does get regular season wins, it will be because of what is around him and will fold in the playoffs when defenses get better. In other words no Super Bowl with Cam.

Mac Jones is unknown. No one knows his upside.

Who are "people"? Not that I necessarily disagree that Cam isn't the best option at QB, but I'm not sure you can speak for others with such specificity.

Do you think Cam's a Super Bowl QB or gives you the best chance in the playoffs against top defenses?

The site is a discussion for opinions. After reading this thread and many others it is my observation/opinion that even some PEOPLE who line up with Cam fear his inconsistency will show up most against the best defenses.

Beyond wanting the future immediately, it is the best reason I can think of to want Mac over Cam, which is the question the poster asked.
