Too bad...He would've Automatically been our 7th-best OLman...

Another dude with experience here who signs elsewhere for cheap...

Know who else aren't the biggest fans of our OLine right now? Jim Miller & especially Pat Kirwin of SiriusXM's Moving the Chains this afternoon; and for the same reasons that have been discussed here: Our fingers-crossed starters at OT, the lack of proven quality at backup OT, and an overall lack of proven quality after the top 6...Their highest-graded player was David Andrews; they really like him, justifiably...
I strongly agree.

That being said, Belichick can sign a veteran backup later if he wishes. I suspect that he is planning on using the Practice Squad for backup IOL's. He's never want to spend much on them.

I expect us to carry 8 OT's, including the obvious six, plus at least 2-3 OT's. If Belichick chooses to have another IOL on the 53, that player could be acquired in July or August.

Bill's running out of OTs worth signing; the top two right now are Morgan Moses & Russell Okung, and they might be looking for starter ass-urances anyway...

Yeah I'm still not up-to-date regarding practice squad rules for this season; e.g.: if everybody has to first clear waivers before being signed to it for the first time, etc...That would obviously play a role in determining how many are kept on the Week 1 game-day roster.

I believe that a player would need to clear waivers before being signed to the Practice Squad. It is would grossly unfair for teams to be able to stash players at $8K a week, with them having had no chance to sign elsewhere. However, once on the Practice Squad, 4 players can be protected in any given week.

We are talking about a backup vet OT. Belichick will trade for one if he needs to do so. However, he went with guys like Cunningham and Herron last year. So, he may be fine with them competing with Cajuste and Sherman. Of course, the hidden plus is that we don't NEED two backups, since Onwenu can start at RT. However, IMO, we do need one adequate backup. Many here point to 5-10 plays from las year and say that Herror was terrible as a starter drafted in 6th round who played with little camp. I suspect that Belichick may be fine with Herron.

Of course, I thought that we should have traded for players last year at WR, DT and OT, but Belichick wasn't listening. this year, he has addressed the holes, and likely recognizes the need for upgrade (if possible) at backup OT, CB, and WR.

Anyone interested in doing an all-time draft? Posted about it a few times. Any player is available. We'll draft a 53 and compare it to other teams drafted. Need 5-6 more posters.

WTWRH2 coming soon ...

How would the format work?

Basically like a fantasy football draft. Except Any player is available. Build a roster (53), plus an head coach, OC, DC. Simple explanation on how you'd deploy them on each side and obviously ST.

You running a 34, 43 over, 12 personnel etc .. Nothing crazy.

Draft would go like 15 - 10 - 10. Take a break. Finish up.

Also make a top 50-75 list of who you would pick.

1)Brady
2)Wilfork
3)Hutson
4)Ty Law ...
So if you're not available to pick we can take your best available player. I think we'll all be available and it'll actually go pretty quick.

Good you're in.

Need 5 more posters.
I would really like to participate but I don’t have mich experience and don’t know a lot of players from the past.. I guess I would be in if you need one more but don’t want to take a spot away from a more experienced draft guy

So this would be a draft from the pool of everybody who's ever played in the league?

This isn't about the draft so much. More fantasy football ish. Study up on a few old timers. You're in.

Tom Brady and Jim Brown MUST be the first two players selected, or theres something wrong.

I made a priority list the other night and didn't have 1 QB in my top 10. I'm not looking at it in terms of 1-10, who's the best. I want the most unique skill sets so to speak. Idk we'll see if it even happens.

Eh. You could make an argument for Lawrence Taylor.
Not a legit one.
LT was arguably the best defensive player ever.
But his impact on the outcome of a game is not close to Brady or Brown. Those are generally the only 2 in the conversation as greatest player all-time. With good reason.

Idk in this silly fantasy it's all about OL/DL imo. Kinda why I want to play it out.

Eh. Agree to disagree. All things being equal, a great defense beats a great offense more often than not.

I wouldn’t pick Brady, Brown, Taylor, or Rice as my #1. I’d pick the greatest all-around football player of all-time. Maybe BGC knows who I’m referring to if he’s been following my QB thread.

How many teams do we have now? And when should I have that consensus list ready? Maybe you could start a dedicated thread?
