Brian Hoyer “The Destroyer” Returns

Gotta say, this stuff totally changes the dynamics of keeping 4 QBs. Both Stid and Jones can be stashed on the PS with no fear of losing them.

Somehow I doubt the #15 pick would be "amendable" to sign a 10k practice squad contract.

I don't know, do the special covid era rules mean players need to take a pay cut to be on the practice squad? Otherwise it doesn't make much sense to have those special rules.
Players under contract have never been able to BE PUT on the Practice Squad. These players are cut, pass waivers, and signed to the Practice Squad,.

The GREAT new thing is that the Patriots can try to put 3 OL's on the Practice Squad and can protect them every week, until they are needed. Then they can be promoted for a week or two, before they have to put on the 53 man roster.

I don't think those rules are there for first round picks in their rookie years. They're there for bottom of the roster guys. Plus, someone would 100% try to sign Jones off of our practice squad within 30 seconds of him getting there, so we'd have to bring him right back up again anyway.

Both Stid and Jones would immediately sign elsewhere if the Pats attempted to move them to the PS, for financial, career trajectory, and personal pride reasons.

Stidham could easily stick on our PS. It's completely normal for a 4th rounder in his third year who has yet to show a thing to be on a practice squad.

He'd sign elsewhere in a heartbeat, somewhere for a roster spot and perhaps some playing time.

He'd never even make it to the PS before signing elsewhere.

Yep. To make the practice squad you have to be released and he would be subject to waivers and probably have close to 30 waiver claims made on him.

If cut before camp there likely is a place for him to be QB3/4 somewhere. If cut after camp not so much.
The convo is about Jones.

LOL, checked this thread because I was surprised that the Hoyster resigning got a 12 page thread reaction...

I now SEE WHY....LOL

Cam can be starter and Hoyer can be the guy to get you through a game should Cam go down. If Cam goes down then you can decide to spend the entire next week prep'ing one of the young guys and use Hoyer as his backup. Or if Cam stinks he can be cut at will with three other viable candidates to step in.

Interestingly he has started 39 games for 7 different teams and was named the Browns starter at the beginning of 2013 and started the first 13 games, so I'd say he was more than a career backup, although he did not earn a long term starter's job. It does help explain his career earnings.

Kinda has some trippy stuff, like him starting games for ARI and IND.

BPA, baby!
What a beauty. Holy **** take a bow.

Mac stashed on the PS??!

Hoyer as a legit bu??!

Bill going BPA??!

This a banger post

Bill Lee's were truly special. We often have posts with which the majority disagree. These are based on a different reality, with a different set of facts.
