I don't know how this thread turned into when Reese was here, but it's not a coincidence the Pats landed some talented players between 2009-12 as he built some very good teams in Tennessee. He knows a thing or two of drafting some talented players.

Someone has to repeat...2011 Packers, 2014 Seahawks, 2015 Patriots, 2017 Patriots, 2020 Chiefs. That’s a hell of a group of teams that didn’t win but sure were good enough to win.

Good post. I would just add to your point that to your point the only 2 receivers we ever drafted were Branch and Edelman, both during the 2001-2004 and 2009-2012 windows where Josh was not here. A desert from 2005-2008 and 2013-now. Meyers was undrafted.
But yes fair point. McDaniels wasn't bad when BRADY was here. Without Brady it's looking a lot like Denver 2010 and St Louis 2011 now.
To be fair, McDaniels drafted Demarius Thomas and Eric Decker who were a great Wr duo in Denver.

That 2010 draft of his was a good one. It also included Zane Beadles (8 year career, Pro Bowler), J.D. Walton (52 starts in 56 games), and Perrish Cox (45 starts in 81 games, though too many off-the-field problems).

People like to bag on the Tebow pick, but they ignore:

  • 2010 was an abysmal QB draft (see below)
  • Kyle Orton, the Broncos QB after Cutler whined his way out of town, was obviously not the answer, and needed to be replaced.
  • The Tebow pick was basically a free pick created by the Broncos' wheeling and dealing
  • The Broncos still had 9 picks in that 2010 draft, including 2 firsts, 2 3rds, and 2 7ths. The only round the Broncos did not have a pick in was the 4th.

For some bizarre reason, every other coach/gm is allowed to miss on players, but McDaniels is supposed to be derided forever for gambling on his team's second pick of the first round in one draft.

Fine.

Patriots are winning it all in '21 and again in '22.

Saints, Rams and Falcons looking a bit rough over this free agency.
Steelers too (hard to see since their logo appears merged with the Rams in that graphic)

Tim Tebow also has more playoff wins than Matthew Stafford who the Rams traded 2 first round picks for :D

And their best player might be in jail by the time the season start.
Regardless, Stafford is a loser and will fold with his teams getting more prime time games. D is overrated and was a feel good story with a bunch of no names after Donald and Ramsey.

Ah yes, playoff wins. The only way to measure how good an NFL QB is. Nevermind that the Lions are a dumpster franchise that drove two of their best ever players into early retirement. If they had drafted Tebow he’d have as many playoff wins as you and I have.

Whatever the opinion of Tim Tebow as a QB is I will always be grateful for that TD pass in overtime to Thomas- forever making the Steelers the answer to a trivia question that they’d rather not be. :D

And, while it may not be the draft approach that most pleases the fans, the Bucs could also just focus on replacements for the young guys who have contracts coming up. For example, if they don't think Carlton Davis is going to be worth his asking price, there should be still be quality CB prospects available at #32.

I think they go CB or RB they won’t have an RB on contract after next season and like you said Davis will be paid

I'd like to see them go DL, if there's one worth the spot.
