Joe and Evan on FAN are pounding Shula for this right now.
:D

They should put an asterisk besides the '72 doophins record because, as noted by many, they never faced a team with a winning record in the regular season.

NOT TRUE.
However:
The '72 Dolphins did not play a team that finished with a record better than 8-6.

'72 Dolphins Opponents' record: 70-108-4 (.396)

IIRC, the 2003 Pats won 10 games against teams with 10 or more wins.

Put an asterisk (in a good way) on that one!

If you include the playoffs, yes, that is true. They faced 7 teams with 10 or more wins in that regular season, with 4 of them coming on the road.

Shula is nervous because he will only be remembered for Super Bowl III after he loses the undefeated monicker....

You mean Shula, the guy who jointly holds the record with 4 Super Bowl losses???(to go with 2 victories)....

Somebody's getting a little scared of his record being broken. Go **** yourself.

FWIW, this was the #1 topic for callins and emails to the early part of the Jim Rome show today, and every one I heard was anti-Shula. He's actually making friends for the Patriots.

Shula is a nasty bitter old man clinging to his glory days and hating anyone who threatens those memories.

I think everyone is sick of the stupid "well the Dolphins can pop those corks now!" storylines whenever the last undefeated team loses.

And Shula is annoying with this stuff, didn't he say something stupid when the Colts looked like they might go undefeated a couple of years ago?

Don Shula might be the most annoying person outside of the NFL right now. He acts like he owns the NFL.

It would never happen but if the Patriots went 19-0 it would be really funny if any Patriots who retire after this year, Brown, Seau, Bruschi, etc, wore famous Miami Dolphin masks in the Patriots box and as the last undefeated team lost they put the masks on and uncorked the champagne mocking those frauds. Also assuming it's not the Patriots themselves that are the last to be beaten.

It would never happen but perhaps if Brady hosts SNL he can talk a bunch of Patriots into coming onto the show and doing it as a skit to shove it in Shula's face.

Shula's comments means 0 to him and it means 0 to me as a fan. I could not care any less about the perfect record.

What I care about is home field advantage, healthy starters, defensive cohesiveness, and ultimately championships.

We have a goal, and that is to be the last team standing, esp. when everyone is going for that target on your back. People are gonna say what they are gonna say, as a team and fans we can not control that.

I am with you there. Its about winning THE LAST GAME. Although it sure would be nice to have the TD record for our QB maybe even an MVP, The Perfect Record, and another SUPER BOWL. But the real important item in my list is the added championship.

I wanted to jump out of my drivers seat when I heard what Shula said on the radio. I thought to myself "Are you kidding? THANK YOU SHULA!" Seriously its going to enlarge the BUG thats already in N.E. from all the haters around the league.

Shula is just whining, *****ing because his sainted fish will soon have their undefeated record eclipsed by the Patriots. That is the crux of his problem. On another story his steak house sucks. Maybe Patriots supporters will picket the joint.
