Shula: "Patriots", "Bonds", and "asterisk" in one sentence! --NY Daily News

Shula is acting like such a jerk. Perhaps Nutri-System shrinks one's brain as well as waistline.

BB and the NEP could not care any less as to what Shula says, let the bitter boy talk, it certainly reflects bad on him.

Shula's comments means 0 to him and it means 0 to me as a fan. I could not care any less about the perfect record.

What I care about is home field advantage, healthy starters, defensive cohesiveness, and ultimately championships.

We have a goal, and that is to be the last team standing, esp. when everyone is going for that target on your back. People are gonna say what they are gonna say, as a team and fans we can not control that.

What we have the best control over is being fans of our team and supporting our team.

Do you honestly care what Shula has to say?

Re: Shula: Pats like Bonds might deserve asterisk --NY Daily News

I truly hope BB writes a tell all book when he retires, and names names.

I love when they name names.

I love it!!! What desperation can do to you? Make you sound like a sniveling crybaby loser. Personally going undefeated doesn't mean as much to me as some...but...if it bothers the 72 team and their coach that much I say go for it.

He should get some viagra and enjoy HIMSELF. Because thats what he's become.

I'm getting tried of Shula and the rest of the '72 fins crying about the Patriots going 19-0. If I were them I would welcome a new member to the Perfect season club. Personally I think they all need some more Ensure!

I have a feeling that there's not going to be too many Patriots fans visiting Shula's new restaurant in the Providence Hilton next to the Civic Center.

Is Shula even aware that the so-called smoking gun video from the first half of the first game was confiscated by the NFL and never made its way into the hands of anyone with the Patriots?

If he wants to question previous season games he can do that but, like Paul McCartney's ex-wife, he just doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I am shocked that Shula would say that. Shula is a classy guy and he would never take shots at the guy who is mentor and best friends with the guy who got his son fired last year and good friends with his mortal enemy who got him fired. I'm sure Belichick's close ties with Nick Saban and Jimmy Johnson had nothing to do with Shula's opinion of the whole situation.

Besides, he needs to lay the ground work if the Pats do break his 72 Dolphins record to discredit it so in their little petty minds that they are still the only "real" undefeated team assuming the Pats break the record. And yes, I say break the record since if the Pats go undefeated in a season it would be 19-0 and the Dolphins were 17-0.

Shula is a dovchebag. I will never eat at one of his restaurants again.

Don Shula's a jealous old d-bag then. His argument doesn't even make any sense.

It's just the senile jealous ramblings of a guy who otherwise should be on the verge of being in the "oh, he's still alive??" category of people.

Guess we'll be REALLY running up the score on Miami next time.

What an idiot.

Earth the Shula: the tape was confiscated 8 minutes into Game 1!!!!!

EVEN IF you thought it tainted aacomplishments in prior years (which is also idiotic), how could it possibly taint this season?

Pats should just put out the pirate flag and run it up against everyone, especially Jets, Fins, and Giants.

Shula is just whining, *****ing because his sainted fish will soon have their undefeated record eclipsed by the Patriots.

I hope we dont get ahead of ourselves. Like I said, sure would be nice to do but on ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, you know...

Shula is nervous because he will only be remembered for Super Bowl III after he loses the undefeated monicker....

Re: Shula: Pats like Bonds might deserve asterisk --NY Daily News

Boy, those '72 Dolphins are so arrogant.
Do they acknowledge that they never faced a team with a winning record in the '72 regular season?

It's sad to watch everyone line up their excuses week after week. The Patriots are called 'classless', yet all they do is go out and play, tune out the naysayers, and play for each other.
No whining, no finger pointing, no throwing teammates under the bus. They are the complete opposite.

But because BB doesn't hug & kiss after games, or ask his team to stop playing so hard in the 4th quarter, they are vilified.

I truly hope BB writes a tell all book when he retires, and names names.

That's not entirely true.

In the first game of that season, the beat KC, 20-10, who finished out the season at 8-6, so since it was the first game of the season, you might be able to argue the point, since they started the game at 0-0, and finished it at 0-1.

However, in the 13th week, they defeated the New York Giants, 23-13, and that Giants team finished 8-6.

However, the rest of the schedule was classic cupcake, featuring 2 teams that finished 7-7 (Jets and Minnesota), and everyone else was well below .500, including the 3-11 Patriots (recipients of a 52-0 pasting that prompted their coach at the time, John Mazur, to quit).

You cannot take away or denigrate that '72 team's effort or record, it is true, but putting that team in their time, and comparing it to this Patriots team in it's time, the matchup is more than equitable.

The comment by Shula is uncalled for, and lacks class and tact.

joe beningo is also ripping shula for it on WFAN :)

I guess Shula wasn't satisfied with the 42-0 halftime deficiet last time. Can you imagine the beat down the Dolphins get now????
Most points in an NFL game during a shutout:

66 - Rochester vs. Fort Porter, Oct. 10, 1920

They should put an asterisk besides the '72 doophins record because, as noted by many, they never faced a team with a winning record in the regular season.

On a funnier note, I like how the columnist describes the upcoming 12/16 Jets rematch: "No team has ever scored 100 points in an NFL game. This could be a first."
