Kraft acknowledges drafting woes, says approach is changing

Seriously, if failure is an indictment.....why do you still post?

If you hate failure, you should be sitting in a corner loathing yourself.

Is this a cry for help? It's not like you are proving anything or anyone wants to hear from you.
I see that you're still taking personal shots at posters.

Florio speculates that Breer is doing a PR piece for Nick Caserio to take blame off of him for the bad drafts the Patriots had the last few years he was here. Florio makes a decent case that Caserio or someone close to Caserio is the source of Breer's piece. So if that is the case, I don't know if it is all on Belichick.

From all reports from current and former staff members, BB has always wanted people to challenge him and try to point out where they think he's wrong. That doesn't mean he always listens, but it wouldn't surprise me if the decision to collaborate more is as much his idea as it is Kraft's, if he started to see himself getting too set in his ways. You could be right though, could be a nudge from above, but I doubt he needed too much prodding.
...

This part stood out to me:

“Belichick ignored that input and instead took Harry, based on Harry’s performance during a non-workout visit to the team and Belichick’s relationship with Harry’s college coach, Todd Graham.

They apparently share the same attorney, and BB had a lot of praise for him back at media day for the Super Bowl six years ago.

If the media (and/or Kraft) is going to get Belichick, now is the time. What would be really funny is if Harry finally has a competent QB this year and balls out for something like 90/1200/13.

I’m sure Belichick has a pretty high opinion of himself but he’s also a critical thinker, and if the evidence points to a needed change in approach then he will make the necessary changes.

I don’t know if I’m remembering this correctly or not but I thought in War Room Holley said that Belichick’s #1 criteria for a WR was the ability to get open quickly? And while I’m guilty of liking the Harry pick, even though I wanted Deebo Samuel, it was the weakest part of his game.

Considering Caserio's contract, what exactly is he worrying about?

I wonder if Kraft is really behind this. It's rather bizarre that a 7-9 season is treated with such catastrophic proportions.

This whole drafting thing is a mountain out of a molehill.

This might be deflection if it's true and he forced Jimmy G out and it's his fault the heir apparent wasn't on the roster.

I'm interested in seeing the Patriots forcing BB to relinquish responsibilities.....let's see how that works out.....lol

meet Matt Patricia, the next coach of the Patriots

When I am him talk, I hear a guy that has a major inferiority complex. It was stunning the 180 he did last year refusing to admit how awful the drafting has been and instead blaming the cap and "going all in" and Covid. And now here is Kraft saying the drafts have stunk. LOL. Pretty sure the nudge came from Kraft and not from some "self-reflection" from Bill.

Alexander doesn't play if Rodney does.
That is true.

But the offense wouldn't have taken the huge step backwards that it did if Branch was still around.

Bill should have some input into the draft. But he's not a first ballot HOF lock for being a GM, only for his coaching. Arguably nobody better at it. Times change and so must the 6 time World Champ Patriots way of doing things.

So let Bill cook with the groceries not shop for them.

I really, Really, REALLY hope that Bill & McD stay as far away from that future Bust Justin Fields as possible...I wouldn't even take him at #15 itself, never mind trading UP for him...That's my Nightmare at Patriot Place scenario: Throwing away both this year's & next year's draft for this guy...

Not having David Givens that season didn't help either...But not having him & Twig weren't the top 2 reasons why we lost the AFCC...or the 3rd or 4th reasons either...
