Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 or 4.7. who cares. Meyers ran slow and all this kid does is know how to run routes and get open a dozen times a game. 40 times mean nothing. They literally were for 60 years ago to find special teams guys who can cover a kickoff. For WRs it's about against an actual human being can you get open and catch the ball.
.
To be fair, Golladay achieved those numbers while playing in 12 fewer games than Agholor. Played over the same amount of games (59), Golladay’s per game averages would put his totals at 230 rec, 3,851 yds, and 26 TD. A difference of 17 rec, 1,088 yds, and 3 TD, all in Golladay’s favor. The yardage is the only staggering difference. Is Golladay really worth $29m more in guarantees than Agholor?
So no, i'd rather pay Agholor $11m guaranteed than shell out $40m guaranteed to Golladay
You view game-breaking WRs critical to the success of an offense.
I don't.
Different philosophy.
Yep. I mentioned Galladay missed 17 games over the 4 years. To be fair, Golladay achieved those numbers while playing in 12 fewer games than Agholor. That having been said I think a guy of Golladay’s caliber would be wasted on Cam so I’m fine with Agholor on a cheaper and shorter commitment. I’ll be more at peace once we know who the long term QB is.
Haha! Every single time I show my ID "Are you related to Jason Bourne?"I like this signing because:
1. Bourne is a cool as sh*t name and we're going to have fun with it (@Bourne Patriot sorry mate); and
2. He's Samoan and those dudes used to eat the heart of their enemies, which is also cool as sh*t.

Yeah and Bourne seems like an awesome teammate too, super positive and happy. I think Meyers and Agholor start, both TEs Henry and Smith start, Harris in the backfield, that means Bourne is the 3rd WR. Jules love the guy but he's on the decline. Harry has absolutely zero role.
JE very well might be at the end. Hell if he's WR4 or 5 so be it. Just being on the team has value to the new players/receivers. He might have a 2007 Troy Brown role.Yeah and Bourne seems like an awesome teammate too, super positive and happy. (in January and February )Edelman should only be used on 3rd downs and in the redzone
Henry got $25M guaranteed.Yep. I mentioned Galladay missed 17 games over the 4 years.
When giving out $40m guaranteed, availability is a huge factor in evaluating the ROI.
$15m less than Golladay.Henry got $25M guaranteed.
Durability: ability to produce despite relatively minor injuries, 5 being most durable.
True for welker, not edelman.Welker and Edelman don't get open because they out run or are more physical they got open because of savvy route running.
Which is what bourne supposedly is good at. Not every receiver needs to be a run deep go get the ball guy.
All I can say is, if he wants to keep the pen he signed with, let himGood point, although Anquan Bolden is a better example than Meyers.
After reading up on Bourne & seeing his video, I am totally onboard with the signing.
He also seems like a team player and a solid locker room presence.
My initial feelings in this signing are gone.
I may even buy my son a Bourne jersey.
Glad BB is aggressive, but if Jakobi doesn't start (if healthy), I'm gonna be PISSED.
Because his mechanics were good at the start of the year and he had a big arm. Then covid happened and his mechanics fell off a cliff. He will have had an entire off season, OTA, and training camp to work on that, plus grasp the offense better. That's why there is optimism for improvement along with the offensive acquisitions. Why would you think any of that would improve after all these years? It’s what he sucks at.
By the way the only way he gets any zip on the ball anymore is with the big wind up and long delivery. It’s not good.
There are soooo many problems with newton. Just about everything he does in the passing game is bad.Because his mechanics were good at the start of the year and he had a big arm. His mechanics looked great the first couple of games. I dont know what happened after that. I'm saying if he can fix his mechanics then he had a great shot to light it up this year. He's he guy we have right now, whether you like it or not. He is going to be the day 1 starter. So you can piss and moan about his past issues. Or you can hope he's working hard with a much better coaching staff to correct them. There are soooo many problems with newton. Just about everything he does in the passing game is bad.
You really expect him to magically fix his awful mechanics? Why didn’t he fix them last year?
If he fixes his mechanics what about his lack of awareness in the pocket, his inability to see and reacts quickly enough to actually throw to the open man when he is open if he even sees him anyway, his poor job running through progressions property and efficiently, his disdain for escaping the rush to buy time, etc?
No they didn’t. He looked bad from day 1 except for about a quarter and a half against a defense that was playing like the worst defense in league history. His mechanics looked great the first couple of games. Edelman is unfortunately coming to the end of career pretty quickly. Probably greatest slot receiver in history of game....one of if not the greatest WR in Pats history....but he’s banged up (tough as nails SOB).....so don’t expect to see him “going deep” or stretching the field at this stage of his career....I’ll just be happy to see him on field for more consistently next yearyou know what, I wouldn't be shocked if Edelman suddenly started going deep. He's got that great turn speed that makes him dangerous, but he's also got really good straight line speed, and you can use his agility in more than 1 way. With Meyers and Bourne handling the midrange stuff. I could see them taking some pressure off Edelman by just sending him in a straight line on a few plays. IIRC we used Welker that way from time to time, and the only reason we haven't done the same with Edelman is he's been so damn productive in the slot role, not because he actually can't do it.
On the other hand, with our current quarterback, I think we're kidding ourselves if we think this team is aiming for deep passes all that often. Cam doesn't have the arm for it. A bunch of WRs to jam up the middle, especially if they bring some size and blocking ability, are a definite asset in the run game.
