N'Keal on the block?

Reports are that the team scouts had red flags on the guy, but BB is close to one of Harry's former coaches, heard his analysis, and went with it. Whether this is true or not, I cannot tell you. I can only tell you what the local media is reporting.
I would never trust the analysis of one's former coach. Reminds me of when I asked a professor for a recommendation. His response was of course he would give a good recommendation because the recommendation says more about him than me.

Posted last night. Interesting he chose a photo from AZ and not in a Pats uniform...

If all we’re going to get is a conditional 6th/7th, I’d rather we give him one more chance in camp this year.
Agree with this completely. WR is a weakness and a late round pick isn’t worth giving up on him. Hold on to him until he can’t win a spot on the roster.

the N'Keal Harry pick wouldnt be so frustrating if it wasnt for the fact that almost every other receiver picked that year turned out to be a stud. instead we picked the guy who is barely an NFL player.

Yes on Metcalf, AJ Brown, Sanders (RB but WR in the draft), Diontae Johnson and McLaurin.

I wouldn't call Deebo Samuel a stud- yet. In 2020 he basically had the same year as Harry.

Hardman has been decent in KC. Nothing special.

Campbell, Boykin, Whiteside and Isabella has been same or less production than Harry.

Hurd has been on IR 2 years in a row and was 3 picks after Metcalf.

The frustrating thing about Harry is that he should be much better than he is. It’s like he has no help, no coaching. And the problems he has: route running, processing, physicality over the middle, are receiving qualities that can be improved on. And Troy Brown, a great route runner, physically tough guy for his size, is a coach on the team. But Bill has him coaching RBs.

Mick Lombardi is WR coach. I'm quite certain he has/is doing everything possible to help Harry become a better football player.

I'm also quite certain Josh, Troy Brown, JE11, Cam and others have provided him with help and support learning the offense.

You say things like route running, processing, physicality over the middle, are receiving qualities that can be improved on. I would agree but only if the player a) has that physical ability and b) has that desire. Due to physical and mental limitations some players can't run good routes, or are physical or process information/make quick decisions.

Maybe in 2021 it'll "click" for Harry. Maybe it won't. Who knows.

That non-stud list shows what I've been saying for a long time. Only 33% of WR draft selections ever amount to anything. If the Patriots had only drafted more than 14 guys over the last 20 years, maybe they would have found more than 4 WRs (Edelman, Branch, Givens and Mitchell).

The biggest issue with Harry is he doesnt play to his size. At his size and athleticism he should be manhandling Cornerbacks even when covered. we saw that with guys like Dez Bryant, anquan bolden. You could have guys draped all over them and they would fight for the ball and come down with it. Gronk did that alot, he would be covered but you get it to the right spot and he will go up and get it.

But Harry gives up too easily, its like hes giving no effort there on those 50-50 balls. Not sure if thats something they can coach out of him.

Saying that Deebo isn’t better than Harry is laughable. I would take a banged up Deebo over a fully healthy Harry 7 days a week.

Agree 100%.

Playing tough and physical is great ONLY if a) you have the physical, mental and emotional discipline to execute.

Some players just can't do all of those those things at the same time. Harry could be one of those players. He could do it at the collegiate level because of his size but at the pro level he can't. Not sure.

That's not what I said and I agree with you.

Somehow find a way to force Harry on Brady. Brady will make Harry a star the second time around.

The thing that kills me about Deebo is it isn’t hindsight in this case. You can easily make a case that not taking Metcalf is hindsight but Deebo looked like the perfect Patriot to a lot of people. I really hope it wasn’t whatever comment he made about seeing Bill in April that made Bill not take him.

100% agree. Loved Deebo.

I was more or less referring to the production at face value.

That's why judging draft picks after a couple of years isn't a complete analysis. For example, what if Deebo has another injury-plaqued year and by some miracle of the Virgin Mary Harry has a 50/600/5TD year?

We can all agree Harry looks like a bust but just need to see the career play out. That's all.
