That's irrelevant to your argument about the Cardinals. I agree that running QBs are all major injuries just waiting to happen. But, until they happen, the teams are the teams. And the Cardinals are a good (not great, but good) and improving offensive team that just beefed up its pass rush, and will likely address its defensive back end weakness in the draft.
What's irrelevant is citing an injury to excuse a loss, particularly against a team that, due to circumstance and opt-outs and timing of CAP space, had been essentially obliterated. The Pats this year were the worst Patriots team of the last two decades. And, in my opinion, very likely to be the worst Patriots team for the rest of BB's tenure.

64 million in CAP space (not counting Trent Brown's contract) and with room to more than offset anything in that contract. A ton of FAs ready to grab - suppose they pick up Henry, Higgins, and Humphries - they have just improved their receiver corps by leaps and bounds. Throw in Rudolph and Sanders for security.

Suppose they sign Tomlinson, Milano (or Van Noy), and a stout DE, re-sign Guy, maybe Shelton...

Now they're back to drafting for luxury instead of need, amd with the highest picks we've seen in a long time.

They can do ALL of that and more. Add in the development of more 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year guys than I can ever remember seeing lots of playing time on a BB team, (not counting an improvement at QB, which I don't see how it could be worse), and I have absolutely Zero trouble in taking the Pats even against the Cardinals next year.

Opinions may vary, but I think BB the coach is worth a couple-few wins a year.

LMAO, based on this there's ZERO chance we get a comp pick for this season.

Talk about bleeding talent, bringing in junk and getting f*ked over it.

I assume in the court of Goddell there is no appeals process >

Latest NFL Salary Cap per team: For us, this does not include Trent Brown's salary. A lot of teams still over the cap, which means more cuts coming and more salary restructures.

I presume that we have permission to publish over the cap stuff.

consider this, Every team needs 5-8MM to sign their rookies. Also teams like to have around 10MM in space to make midseason moves due to opportunity to improve or injuries. So while its nice to say we have $68MM in cap space, the reality of it is the "EFFECTIVE number is closer to $52MM. And if you take that $14-18MM teams need to sign their draft picks and have some room to make mid season moves, the number tof teams with space enough to be factors in FA is severely limited

Based on this chart there are fully 20 teams will have less than $20MM in cap space. Almost by definition that means there are 20 teams who are essentially OUT of the FA market for much more than minimum value FA's. Then there is another 5 teams who look like they would have $10-15MM in EFFECTIVE space and 2 more who have $15-20MM in effective room,

That means that with the biggest raft of quality FA's in many many years (perhaps ever) the Pats will be competing with only 4 other teams (Jags, Jets, Colts and Bengals) for those FA's who would be looking for contracts that start at $10MM. (Washington and Denver can also afford one $10+MM contact)

I see this as an amazing opportunity for the Pats, and are REALLY bad year for FA's. If you are a FA and DON'T get signed in the first few days of FA, the chances of you getting the contract you THOUGHT you were going to get are going to drop precipitously. So for Pats fans, and BB, I suggest PATIENCE will end up being their best friend. AND I think most of the teams with money to spend will also be thinking this way
We need Miguel to again tell us how much we need (net) for rookies, for camp replacements, midseason replacements, and Player 52 an 53. Last I heard, the TOTAL was about $10M, not $16M. Also, when the final roster is set, there is an automatic "bonus" as rookies replace vets that are in the top 53.

What moves did the Saints make? They were about 49 mill over the tagged their safety for 10 mill but now are down to 32 over.
how did they clear 27 mill, anyone know?

No we are in the same category because none of those teams are fully built and the one that did make the playoffs has major uncertainty at qb.
Are you honestly telling me a free agent with offers from New England, Indy and Arizona is going to dismiss NE and Arizona and sign with Indy because they are a contender?
Are you not aware of the rate of turnover of playoff teams from year to year? A one time playoff team who lost its qb is not a “winning destination”???
I have said none of those things. I was simply reacting to your idea that NE is as much a playoff contender as the INDY or ARIZ.

I think that we will have a QB when the season starts, and will add a WR, TE and LB within the first week of free agency.

Guard massacre continues . Thuney gets competition..

I guess the NFL decided to take a 4th rounder from the Pats as penalty for Bob Kraft’s little indiscretion without actually announcing it as such?

Get back to me when you figure out that your position here is ludicrous. Until you do, the discussion can't go anywhere.

Actually I was responding to this:

sliders said:
BB better back up the brinks truck then. Those two other teams are contenders with much much much better QBs.
I wouldn’t consider Wentz “much much much better” than anyone to a free agent and I wouldn’t think a free agent would say the patriots have to back up the brinks truck to compete because they are so far below those “contenders”.
For the record the “contender” in Arizona hasn’t had a winning season in 5 years and has a coach who was fired because he couldn’t win in college.
And the “contender” in Indy just went from 7-9 to 11-5 by adding a qb who then retired and is replaced by a castoff.
If you want to believe a FA looks at this and says I have a better chance of winning with frank reichs colts it kliff kingsburys cards than bill belichicks patriots that’s up to you but come on man.
New Orleans Saints Transactions" (spotrac.com)

These are for March.

You can use spotrac for February transactions also.
Thanks. Alexander the big cut and Jordan the big restructure.

You won because my guy was injured = good take
My guys were injured too = ludicrous take

This is just the ignorance this board has missed recently.
Welcome back

I wouldn't be shocked. Harry has a lot of raw physical skills to be a good to great WR. He hasn't shown that he can live up to that, but another team might figure that in their system they can turn Harry around especially a system that doesn't rely on precise route running like the Pats.

At this point, Harry's trade value has diminished that teams might think they could get a steal. I can't see the Pats getting more than a late mid-round pick for him and even that might be way too overly optimistic.

To me harry's biggest problem is that he plays weak. For his size he should be manhandling smaller CBs to get balls and get open. Instead he far too often gives up when the CB gets physical and doesn't fight for the ball or position
