BB ready to spend to in Free Agency

I really wish we lost those games against Arizona and Jets
We would be guaranteed a top 5 QB.
I guess I should start prepping my Davis Mills or Kellen Mond fan club.
If Bill likes Lance or Jones and want to build around him, Belichick will move up. A franchise QB is worth what it will take.

Mac Jones is the best fit for us. We would have to trade up to #7 to leap frog Carolina.

Cousin,
There is a problem. 2 or 3 years to get said QB to be competent. Do you think Bill is still here in 2024? He might be with the Pats but in the" later-in-his-career" Parcells and Coughlin GM/Advisor role.
With his CAP room, IMO Bill is in this might be the "last-hurrah" mind set. He has got to top Brady.
The problem is in fighting for a proven winning QB, we don't match up to what the Dolphins or Jets can offer.
As I have mentioned there might be a way to get Tua if the Texans bite for a Watson trade. I see Tim Kelly from WEEI picked up on my post of a couple days ago and used it. Thanks for the plug Kelly.
The Dolphins trade for Watson :
Tua
CB Xavien Howard
Ist Round picks #3,
First Round pick #18
Dolphins 1st Round pick in 2022

I can see Shanahan and Nick C. then engage in a trade.
Shanahan is not crazy about Jimmie G. and Nick C. Drafted him.
I see the Texans trading Tua for Jimmie G.

I can see Shanahan taking our #15 pick plus Gilmore (they are losing Sherman) for Tua and their 2nd Round pick #44

Now Shanahan has ammunition (two firsts) to get in front of Carolina , the Saints, the Broncos (the Pats?) and reduces the Jimmie G CAP. Trades with perhaps the Falcons.

The Texans get Jimmie G, an All Pro CB and three #1 picks. Nick C. is now a hero. Jimmie G. has at least made the Super Bowl. Watson has not.

If I am the Dolphins I am doing the trade.

Thoughts?

I think jones will be there at 15.
I actually think he could last quite a bit longer than that.

Tua isn’t the answer.

I think the first few days could be painful. Expectations have been set high because of the cap space, but I still think BB will not go for top tier UFA's and will wait until the top ones are off the board.
He's going to stay the course with what they do. Value. Best way I can come up with a way to describe their plan is good contracts where guys perform near top of market but get paid mid market.

I think that we are more likely to get Jimmy than Tua

I think that has been his preference in the past but he has always looked to college as predictive of where the NFL is going and the clear trend there has been mobile QB’s for quite some time. I don’t, however, see him changing his MO when it comes to QB accuracy, and I believe that was ultimately why he passed on Lamar Jackson. And I think that the speed of NFL defenses now has made it imperative to find a QB who is athletic but able to read defenses, and is accurate. This is why he liked Garrapolo so much IMO.

That and a Wonderlic score of 13. Tough to pick up the Pats offense with a 13.

Tua isn’t the answer.

And Miami is letting Fitz go, so they are up to something. I doubt they want to start again with another rookie QB with the #3 pick. I am guessing Watson, but it could be Wilson or even JimmyG for a whole bunch of picks.

I don’t know if Miami understands Tua isn’t the answer.

I think they are going hard after Watson. Or they are going to draft someone with Houston's pick.

I don't think the fanbase or media will tolerate a 4-12 or 4-13 Patriots season while a rookie QB takes his lumps. No question they're going to try to get a good QB in the meantime.

Miami would be crazy to NOT go hard after Watson. He has already said he would like to play for them and they have the assets to make the trade.
Houston will eventually relent and trade him.

Well, several players who didn't get tagged should be targets. The team has the money to target multiple high level WRs and 2 of the best available TEs, to be in on Aaron Jones, to try bringing back Van Noy, and to be ready to pounce on any QB who springs loose.

If they liked tua as their future when they drafted him nothing happened in 2020 that should change that. If they have they should have never drafted him

Or maybe Flores saw enough in his limited times as a starter. Not everyone has Bill's patience to stick three years behind a guy like Stidham. Sometimes you either have "it" or you don't.

What im saying is there is no way you could see this guy as your future and then bail on that based upon what he did as a rookie. His rookie year was better then expected.
