Asante goes off on Bill/Pats organization

Belichick won wherever he went. He brought the Patriots to the Super Bowl right after he joined in '96. He basically won us a SB (not Tom Brady) in 2001. The guy knows what he's doing with or without Brady. Neither of them win 6 without each other.
He wasn't here in 1996.

Asante is right. How can BB start Chad Scott ahead of Asante except for being pissed about Asante's contract situation and the fact Asante didn't want to take a discount and wanted to "Get Paid" which he got tattoed on his arm.

Listening to Asante here, I would not only have started Chad Scott ahead of him, but also Troy Brown and Earthwind Moreland. Guy was eating away at the team internally.

I know who you are...it’s obvious.

You’re a poster who was here pretty frequently screaming about how Brady would fail in Tampa and screaming in the political threads. It’s obvious it’s you because that screen name disappeared when yours surfaced...clearly this was your second account from awhile back. I see you’re too embarrassed to show up because you were soooooo wrong. Your attacking style and moronic points are are exactly the same.
Is this true about patsfanincleveland? Specifically the bit about Brady failing in Tampa? Probably had the Patriots winning the division too... falling for that IBWT bullsh*t... beLichick can patchwork the team with some wannabe loser who had one fluky great season. Why would anyone from Cleveland like beLichick anyway? Talk about failing.

Those mid-tier guys were key though. Whatever Bill did it won us a lot of Super Bowls.

Here are some blasts from the past: Grant Williams, Bobby Hamilton, Otis Smith, Christian Fauria, David Patten, Mike Compton, Anthony Pleasant, Larry Izzo, Terrell Buckley, Antowain Smith, Roman Phifer, Keith Traylor, Reche Caldwell, Donte Stallworth, Kyle Brady, Rob Ninkovich, Andre Carter, Brian Waters, Brandon Lloyd, Ted Washington, Danny Amendola, Donald Thomas, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Harrison, Jason McCourty, Jamie Collins II, Patrick Chung II, Jabar Gaffney, Deion Lewis, Danny Woodhead, Rex Burkhead, Legarette Blount, Ryan Wendell, Alan Branch, Brandon Browner, Chris Hogan, Chris Long, Martellus Bennett, Jabaal Sheard, Lawrence Guy, etc.
WTF?! What exactly does this list represent? I hope you're not seriously saying these are "mid-tier" players who played key roles in winning Super Bowls. You realized you typed Reche Caldwell in that mess? Amendola, okay he showed up in the postseasons at least (another former player who hates Bill by the way). But Kyle Brady?.. Donald Thomas?...etc. Explain yourself.

Regarding Asante Samuel I'm sure he's echoing the sentiment of a lot of former Patriots players. Let's face it he's not the only one criticizing beLichick's methods recently. Bill's taking a lot of heat from various angles and much of it is well earned. Wait until he gets in front of the media again and he's getting peppered with questions about Brady's 7th ring and how he feels about moving on the Brady now. Then if the Patriots have another down season while Brady's continuing to thrive in Tampa Bay and even stumping on the beLichick's defense in primetime. Good times.

I lament Samuel's missed INT in Super Bowl 42 as much as anyone but let's not act like he lost the game. After the Tyree catch beLichick should have been conserving clock for the offense. He also should have used a timeout as opposed to leaving 5'8" Hobbs in isolation on 6'5" Burress.

Samuel was a very good player, an actual great draft selection by beLichick. We could have used some of those pro bowl seasons he had for Philly. Just like we could have used Ty Law in '05 and '06. Or how about Malcolm in SB 52?... that would have been nice too.

Dude, stop. Now you're starting to get ridiculous.

BB with Brady as his starting QB only missed the playoffs once (18 for 19).
BB without Brady as his starting QB has only MADE the playoffs once (1 for 8)

I heard him say BB also started a WR as a DB instead of him. WTF. Lmao

Do you believe everything that moron says? How gullible can you be?

Troy Brown played because all our DBs were banged up. He didn't start ahead of Samuel. But the fact is, Brown performed well in the playoffs. He's a big game player. Makes big plays on the biggest stage. Doesn't choke like Samuel.

I'm sure you also agree with starting Rowe over Butler in LII because Bill thought it was a great idea and he's the one that wins us super bowls.

They've been together 20 years. You're using the first year they're not together to make a judgment. Talk about howlingly stupid and ridiculous. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge Belichick's defense in a couple of those Super Bowls is mind numbingly stupid.

Way to change the subject. You don't even know who Troy Brown is.

His assistant coaching years are irrelevant to the discussion, so nothing's been lost.
Highly relevant. We were a losing team and Parcells was on his way out the door. There's a reason Kraft tried to hire Belichick right after the 1996 season. Because he understood, as did most real fans, that Belichick was the guy who turned everything around. And when the team went all the way in his second year as head coach, it was his coaching that won us those games.

I used every year BB was a head coach and every year Brady was the starting QB for the Patriots. I even kept out this past year of Brady with the Bucs, in order to keep the BB coaching with/without comparison clearer.

That's how this works. You must know this.

Are you drunk or something?

It's completely irrelevant. It's no more relevant than the number of protons on the 5th planet of the 489th nearest galaxy to ours.

This is so idiotic.

Brady just left this year in a year when the Patriots were in transition! Are you kidding me? It's one of the dumbest things to use the two years at the beginning and end of the dynasty to say what you said. In the first place, BB just took over and was turning over the roster. In the second, the team is clearly in rebuilding mode. This is so basic and simple to understand.

Belichick's roster building over the prior 20 years is hands down the greatest coaching job in NFL history but also better than anything in any team sport in history.

Assistant coaches are irrelevant. Gotcha, How dumb is that? I

They are irrelevant to this discussion. Again, you have to know that. And, since you're not breaking downs wins/losses along the lines of Weis/McDaniels/Obrien/Crennell/Pees/Patricia/etc..., it's obvious that you do know it.

People here hate on Asante who led the NFL in picks twice and owned a prime Peyton Manning for a pick 6 in a championship game...

yet they defend Duke Dawson, Jojuan Williams, and Cyrus Jones when BB overdrafts them by 5 rounds

There are thousands, maybe millions of people here who defend the selections of Dawson, Jones and Williams.

And, of course, retaining the ultimate superstar for 19 years was the biggest thing, and the one Belichick deserves the most praise for, even if he deserves criticism now too.
Belichick doesn't get bonus points for Brady sticking around as long as he did with team friendly deals. Brady thought he doing right by the team, taking considerably less than what he could have made elsewhere in his prime, and Belichick repaid him by using him as the example for everyone else taking less too or being shown the door. Everyone taking less except for himself of course, making as much a $10 million per as far back as a decade ago and up to $20+ million nowadays.

When the Assistant HC is Bill Belichick, the acknowledged greatest coach in NFL history, it's highly meaningful.

In fact, Bill Parcells never did anything without him.

Starting from their time together in 1984, the Parcells and Belichick combo only had 1 losing season out of 11, 3 Super Bowls.
Parcells without Belichick is 4-3, no Super Bowls, not even a single championship game.
