Stidham already back at it

Also weird that they would think cam could run the brady offense.

He is such a different QB than other guys they brought in like Matt cassell or Jimmy G who were more pocket passers with a quick release and accurate.

Cam newton is more of a use your running ability to get teams to play you differently and then guys get open with RPO.
Yep. What were they thinking making Cam run an offense like that. I saw it from the very beginning - I was hoping it would be a Ravens style offense and that's not what it was at all.

Yeah, also didn't help they had no tight ends. That was Newtons bread and butter in carolina

Bill knows and that's all that matters. His actions (and in Stiddy's case, lack of action) speaks loud and clear. Remained on the bench behind the guy who couldn't throw a football when the Pats were eliminated from playoff contention. That's more than enough that needs to be said about his future or potential as a Patriot.

Had to laugh at the comment on twitter about Stidham that Manning also a tough first year. Imagine actually comparing Pick Six Stiddy to Peyton Manning.
Personally, I'm convinced Bill made a promise to Newton to get him the reps necessary for his incentives in order to get him to sign that ludicrously low money contract.

It's obviously Kennedy's fault, she's got that boy p**ssy whipped.

@stcjones you can take Stidham's poster down now. Lol
She is attractive but man she's gotta go easier on the makeup. On her instagram it's like she thinks she's doing a modelling gig everywhere....

I know people hate this, but that's why Brissett to me is the best choice to hold down the fort until team can find the QBOTF. He knows the system, is accurate, minimizes mistakes, can run if he has to. He needs the run game to be effective. He's not ideal but a better fit than Mariota or any of the other scrubs being considered. Price has to be right though.

If Vinatieri doesn't miss 3 easy game winning FGs in 2019, the Colts probably make the playoffs that year.

Check out the wedding video she posted.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me. 2019, we had Stidham taking reps from Brady due to Brady's inability to go, in which Bill famously referred to the former as "Stid". in 2020, we have Newton, who was simply horrible, and Bill steadfastly refuses to give Stid the reps, when it seemed crystal clear that Cam was not going to get it done. Stid went from backing up the GOAT to clipboarding behind Cam and Hoyer.

Maybe we should start a Jarrett Stidham forum.

I totally get it (never been a Stidham fan) but did we not have a 'debacle' with Cam?
We went 7-9 with arguably the weakest offensive roster in the league and the most Covid opt outs. That’s not a debacle. Someone like Brady maybe gets this team to 10-6 or 11-5 and an early playoff exit, but we finished about where we should have.

And it’s worth repeating, Stidham at no point in the season looked better than Cam. I don’t know how much we need to hear that the coaches and players had zero faith in him for it to stick.

The idea that Stidham would ever be a starter has been a running joke for awhile

Or the much more likely scenario that Stidham was new and being developed in 2019 and then when he had a chance to be the starter the staff decided that he wasn’t worth it.

Cam was here dirt cheap and if Stidham worked, he’d be the long term option. There was absolutely zero reason to not make Stidham the starter or give him reps if there was any hope he was the superior option

Or similar to this, once he found out Brady was leaving he took his foot off the gas a little, assuming he had the inside track to the starter job. Once the coaching staff saw signs of this, it was an uphill battle to win that trust back, and he didn't by the end of 2020.

This excuse needs to be retired as most of those opt outs were easily replaceable. HT was the only player his where his presence was missed.

That "excuse" is never given in a vacuum though. No one is (or should be) saying that it was the only reason the Patriots missed the playoffs. Just that when you add it onto the pig pile of other things, it's a factor.

Also, I would argue that having Cannon as an option when Wynn was out with injury (either putting Onwenu to LT, or Thuney there with Onwenu to LG) would have helped, as would Chung in run defense and to mentor Dugger. Plus saying Hightower was missed is an understatement. We had two rookies plus Winovich and Bentley that probably could have been slated into more appropriate roles if Donta was there. Again, not THE reason they failed, but it certainly made them less deep as a football team.

Don't get me wrong, my post history contains exactly 0 calls to start Stidham at any point of any season or offseason. But our offense was a total disaster last year, and while it wasn't all Cam's fault, part of it certainly was. If that's not a debacle, I don't know what is. None of that is to say that Stidham wouldn't have caused an even bigger debacle.

Not for nothing, Jordan Palmer was talking up Stidham big time last off season. Unfortunately he was wrong.

It reminds me of basketball players that can sink every single shot in warmups, but then shoot 22% once in the game. I'm sure Stidham is a good kid, hard worker, and takes instruction on his throwing mechanics well. But until he can apply those mechanics consistently and effectively under the pressure of a normal game, it's all just theory. I'll bet 99% of QB's that are talented enough to come out of college programs can look good in shorts throwing a ball with a guru giving them tips.

Bedard was the one making the comments on the podcast. I would think a team can figure that out a lot sooner than 16 games.
My opinion on Bedard has eroded to the point of him being slightly above that of Gary Tanguay.

Dude looked so jittery when he was out there. You could tell he was a better pure passer than Newton. But his brain was moving at like 100 miles a minute.
The kid was sacked 11 times in one game in 2018. He was dry humped by pretty much every defense he played as well. He’s ruined. He was ruined before he even came into the league.

For once, we disagree! I think he brings an entertaining and knowledgeable perspective to the game. He also works pretty hard at drilling down on what happened during a play or a game. I like the guy.
