Update: 5-year old girl involved in Britt Reid accident awakens from coma

Hold on a sec. I just realized her family's gofund me is raising $ for what will surely be astronomical med expenses.
But no mention of any help from anyone in the Reid family!?!! With all their millions? Its hard for me believe Andy hasnt quietly stepped in and said"I got this" . It should have been w/o any hesitation, no lawyers. Do it because its the right thing to do.
Hes a morally bankrupt pos if he isn't or hasnt already done this. Im hoping he is helping and whoever wrote story neglected to mention it.

There may be legal issues and either his or their lawyers have counseled them to not give/accept anything yet. Like many things, you got to let everything come to light before passing judgement.

Now, if this isn't the case then I'm right there with you.

Huh? Let what come to light? Brett hit that car while DUI, no question.

You are correct that the lawyers for the Reids have probably told them not to do any such thing, because such actions would be construed as an admission of guilt on the part of the Reids and open them up to civil litigation.

But they're going to get sued anyway. I hope the Reids get soaked pretty good.

No thats wrong.
I have been in similar situation before.
Lawyers are always going to advise against it.
Screw the lawyers. You do the right thing, PERIOD. Thats what I did. And I dont have Reid's $. Not beating my own drum here, I only did what any other human who actually has any integrity would do. Again. im hoping Reid is already doing this. Otherwise, he's scum.

And btw, in my situation, I was completely not at fault. Someone lunged out from between two parked trucks and bolted right in front of me w/o looking. I was driving and had no chance to stop. I swerved as sharply as possible to lessen the impact. There were lot of witnesses and everyone thought it looked like an attempted suicide. Police were actually going to cite her. She wasn't hurt too badly but had no insurance. I contacted her family and found she was a recent asian immigrant, spoke only a little english, worked 2 jobs to support her young kids. She wasnt attempting suicide just rushing in a panic cause she was late picking up her kids. Gofundme et al didnt exist then. I helped because i could and she was gonna miss a few days work. My guess is that could be devastating to the family.
Thst only makes Reids situation worse, since his son is clearly at fault.

Maybe he has....
Did you read my post? That's exactly what I said before. That I was hoping he was already helping and reporter didnt mention it or didnt know.

"Come to light" wasn't referring to the incident itself - under the influence and hit the car. No grey area here at all. I want to see little Reid imprisoned for a long time, and big Reid to put $10m in a trust to cover whatever that little girl needs.

What has happened so far is pretty typical. It isn't like the hospital kicks the girl to the street if she runs out of money. They tend to give the treatment then give the bill. It is at that point that the victims would go after those responsible, and all the respective insurance companies would get involved and handle the expenses. Assuming Reid is judged to be at fault - which I cannot imagine doesn't happen - he (and his insurance) would foot the bill.

Any further lawsuits, such as against the team or Reid himself, would be up to the family. I imagine they will receive a lot of money in a settlement. The involved parties will pay to make the PR hit go away.

Reid Jr hit a parked car on the side on the road, I'm pretty sure its his fault......

It also appears that he was drinking at the Chiefs facility, that will make the Hunt's liable. Andy Reid has deep pockets, but the Hunt's pockets go much deeper. I'm sure that Hunt's lawyers are the ones telling Andy what to do and what not to do.

That's what I was thinking. $500,000 in a GoFundMe account is a lot of $$. Who's to say he didn't make a large anonymous contribution? It's a sticky situation for him, true, although he is not responsible (legally) for his adult son's actions, but the team I suppose could be implicated in some way if they knew the son had a problem and let him continue to drive to and from work. I just pray the little girl recovers. They said she opened her eyes, which is great, but it wasn't one of those rare awakenings where the person is talking and moving around normally right off the bat.

That is awesome news. The Hunt's or the Reid's should take care of this family for life.

Yes I did read it and just pointed out the possibility that he quietly did something. No intention to get into a debate.

Exactly. Not a legal expert but maybe showing signs of "I'm sorry [I was at fault here and am trying to make it better] here's some money" might not come off well

I had a similar situation when I was only 18. A mildly special needs girl came running out between trees in front of this condo complex. I laid on my horn and luckily there was no on coming traffic so I swerved into that lane and came to a complete stop and she ran into my car which was not moving. Luckily three drivers behind me all stopped and gave statements on exactly what happened. 4 paperboys, you know I'm old LOL, also saw it and gave statements. They told us it happened all the time and that he single mother never kept tabs on her, WTF.

She wasn't seriously hurt but I still called to follow up with the family and to see if I could do anything even if it was send some candy or something else. The mother could have cared less. Very sad.

The Reid's should definitely help out however they can.

Well this sucks...I wish I knew more about what progress should look like.
