"Oh noes what now Tom Brady won a SB with TB and I'm a Bucs fan... now that he has proven that he can win SBs with coaches not named Bill Belichick won't the edge be off?"

Buc up lil fella, that's not how TFB rolls!

He'll have to answer the not-yet-asked question, "Sure you had one more SB left in you, but you couldn't go on a dynasty run in Tampa... could you?"

As long as Alex Guerrero's modified PiYo or whatever TF it is is working, and the avocado ice cream still tastes good to him, my guess is Brady will be finding some new thing he hasn't done that he can prove doubters wrong about.

Can't you see him saying to himself, "That was nice but I don't want anybody thinking I could only do my thing in NE..."

Of course, he never seems to think along the lines of these grand historical story lines, his way of staying focused on winning "The next one." That's what he'd probably say if you ask him whether another win w/Tampa would be special -- it would be the most special one ever, because it's the next one.

But I do think "What about a Bucs dynasty" is going into the Brady Motivational blender.

One more thing... I don't think anybody's rooting harder for the Pats to rebound than TFB... just to kick our butt in the SB. I would not, at that point, be a Brady fan. If it came to it.

I'm just hoping that BB doesn't read our forums and resign on a napkin or some ****.

I absolutely do not want Brady to get a dynasty in Tampa...it would make NE's to move on from him look even more foolish. Now that he's won a title there, I'm hoping he plays well but does not bring any more championships to the Bucs.

Enjoy rooting for Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, or whoever he faces next year.

My point being that even if you don’t love the idea of him making the Patriots look foolish, surely you must prefer it to the alternative?

I’ll be rooting for Brady in the NFC. It will be fun.

Nice take. That chip is real. He might try and compartmentalize it to the "next one" but the notion that Belichick was more important than him is too big a challenge for him to ignore now. The old "we're still here" declaration from a couple years ago on the Pats has morphed to an "I'm still here even though I'm over here now...., where are you?"

I get ya... for me, it's another win-win. IF no more SBs with Tampa, THEN there was something special about the NE "special sauce." IF more SBs in TB, well hell, good for Tommy... unless he's playing us, of course.

Best case, we're back in the SB next year, we beat the Bucs, Tommy and BB hug in the middle of the field, the spark is rekindled, it's a magic moment and they dance a sexy tango before BB, overcome by emotion (as he is wont to be), pops the question, and TFB blurts out yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Have your people call my people!

I hope Brady wins another one and then Bill rebuilds and matches him. It's gonna be a hell of a story.

We should all be rooting for the Pats to win the Super Bowl next year, which means we should be rooting for Brady to not win. I can understand if the Pats are out of the playoff race that you root for Brady, but rooting for Brady to win the super bowl before the season starts is not me. It strikes me as odd to root for another team to win the super bowl over the next couple years and hope that my own team rebuilds for the future so they can be successful in 2023 and beyond.

Brady has a much better chance to repeat than the Pats have of winning a SB next year and that's an understatement. The Bucs window is wide open, the Pats window shut a couple seasons ago. The Bucs look like they could win 14 games and the Pats as constructed right now look like they could win 4. If that.

We all know moves will be made, and hopefully in Year 1 of our rebuild we still have an exciting and fun team to watch that can make the playoffs and have a foundation in place to shorten the time it will take for our window to start reopening.

Yes, Tampa is much better and it's more realistic for them to win the SB. However, we looked bad in 2000 and won the following year. In 1995, we were 6-10 and got to the super bowl in 1996. The offseason has just started. We literally have people on this forum hoping Tampa signs certain free agents despite the fact we play them next year. Huh?

I wouldn't count on that repeating itself.

Curtis Martin was the offense in 1995. Pats had a superstar in the making. We have Harris and he's great but I wouldn't put him on Martin's level quite yet especially if he has durability issues.

The Pats had the foundation already in place in 2000 especially on defense. Law, Milloy, Bruschi, McGinest, Tebucky and then guys like Faulk, Brown and Vinatieri and other key contributors that got Dynasty 1.0 going were all there in 2000 and have been there for some time. We have no foundation like that right now. Not likely we can rebuild something like that through free agency either.

I don't think the Pats need to blow it up (although if Belichick leaves my opinion would be different) but they're not close to being ready right now to take the next step back into contention.

I don't expect playoffs in 2021 or even an improvement over 7-9. But we'll see. I'm actually really looking forward to seeing this team gel.

Yes, winning the SB next year is not realistic. But that's what being a FAN(ATIC) is all about. Having a poor shot at winning the super bowl does not mean we turn to another team or former player to root for that guy to win it all before the season starts. That's just my take.

If there's an exception to that, Brady is it.

But I'm sure 100% of this board is cheering for the Pats when they play their old QB in Foxboro this season.

I cannot see a path to the Pats doing a one year rebuild but should that happen then great and of course I'll be rooting for them no matter what. I've been of the opinion we'll see improvements but they won't be championship quality until 2022 at a minimum.

I doubt it's 100%. There are those who switched their avatars to Bucs and are closet Bucs now. Embarrassing to say the least. It's only a very small minority here though.

I don't think many Pats fans think we're getting to a Superbowl next year.

Of course Brady is thinking dynasty. He is not programmed like the rest of us. He sees what is in front of him - an owner and GM committed to building a championship level team, a GM willing to get him the pieces he wants/needs, a super young secondary that is only going to get better, an NFC South division that suddenly looks like a cake walk with Brees pending retirement, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson who are insanely jealous of Brady's success wanting to switch teams to do the same or get paid mega bucks to stay, a second place schedule that has his team playing the NFC East. I mean, it goes on and on and on.

Actually we didn't look that bad in 2000. We were competitive in every loss except the Thanksgiving game in Detroit. This year there were a bunch of losses where we were not competitive at all.

If Brady gets a dynasty (2 more super bowls) in Tampa, that will be his greatest accomplishment as a player since he's doing it in his mid 40s. It will overshadow anything he did in NE. It would mean 9 super bowls, 33% of which he won on another team. Tampa would have a huge claim to Brady's success.

I think you're missing the point...and that is you can't just write off your own team before the season (and free agency) even starts and put your eggs into another team's basket.
