Speaking of Brady, I was watching one of @KontradictioN 's fantastic music videos in the Pub yesterday and that led me to re-watch The Brady 6. It's as great now as it was the first 5 times I watched it. Then I realized that Tommy LomBrady won 3 more times after that video was made. It gave new meaning to the title.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Jules or White go to TB as they will be affordable compared to Godwin. I don't think they'll be able to pay him since Evan's is already being paid.
Depends also if Godwin will take less to stay in Tampa

Guys.... other teams don't do things the way NE does.... you don't need to worry about one guy "taking less".... if Tampa Bay sees a 2-3 year window to win a Super Bowl, they just might mortgage the future to keep the right guys there now. It is very easy to pay big bucks with low cap numbers in the first few years, then worry about cap hell 4-5 years down the road.

For most GM's that sort of move is a no brainer because they don't know if they will even still be in their current job 4-5 years from now.

They are in an envious position. They currently have almost no dead money, no backloaded contracts, almost no bad cap hits, and all of their draft picks. They could restructure and then make a handful of big signings.

Donovan Smith is probably their worst contract, and they can release him (14.5M) in 2021 with a zero cap hit.

I suppose they can franchise tag him but I think it would cost about $15mil considering the top WR are getting paid around 20mil. Not cheap and considering they have so many weapons, some of these guys are luxuries they can't afford.

If they keep Evans, would they keep both AB if he affordable and Godwin? They can be replaced with Amendola and Edelman at 1/3 the cost. They still have Miller and other up and comers.

Also have to consider that I think Gronk will be back. OJ Howard will be back. Brate could be back if he agrees to less.

For RB, Vaughn looks really good. I think White and Burkhead are FA and could be cheap.

So next year looks like a case of too many weapons with too many mouths to feed again. A nice problem to have. So to me Godwin looks like a luxury even if they also lose AB.

All i have left is to root for tom but a divisional round with green bay would be tough. They wanna make sure the nfl’s golden boy gets another crack at the super bowl.

I don’t think they have a problem of too many mouth to feed. They looks to have great chemistry between them.

Winning cures everything. If they feel they are close to winning. I don’t think it’s a problem

Godwin is a tough call. He’s not really quick like Edelman or Welker though he’s bigger and has better hands. He’s a great hybrid receiver who can line up anywhere and excel at both inside and outside routes, but I think, as you said, a cheaper veteran could replace a lot of what he does. Seems like Brady is starting to really develop chemistry with him.

Miller is more of a deep threat and not a YAC guy though. It’s weird because he’s 5’9” but his game is relies on straight line speed rather than quickness... maybe he can develop into a more versatile threat.

The team lacks guys who are quick and can make defenders miss in open space.

Release D. Smith and replace with a stellar veteran LT at same cost ($15M.) Better LT and the emergence of Vaughn and/or drafting a really good pass catching back would make the offense better. Someone like James White or White himself if he isn’t washed.

I didn’t realized that Tom Brady was rank #2 in QB grades by PFF.

he has 11 INT but only 2 dropped INT and his receiver dropped 11 TDs which is the most in the league. The second most is at 5. And he is also 2nd best in turnover worthy plays.

for example Mahomes has 6 INT but 16 dropped INT which is the most in the league.

Tom Brady has been pretty good this year.

I've seen a lot of KC games this year and I marvel at all the dropped INTs by the opposition.

Many of Brady's INTs actually deflected off of RB hands on dump offs.

I'm sure PFF takes this into account but in the first half of the season, Tampa had a ton of first downs on huge DPI plays downfield. Many of those balls would have been completed. I don't know if PFF gives the QB and WR credit for those, but it should. 1/2 credit maybe.

If the QB throw a 50 yards pass that the receiver drop, he still get a good grade. If he throws a 5 yards dump off that the receiver take for 50 yards, he doesn’t get a better grade for that.

I know that PFF takes into account dropped INT, turnover worthy plays and stuff like that in their grades. That’s why he doesn’t necessarily equals to the player stats.

Yeah Top 5 QB at 43 years old is insane no matter how loaded his weapons are. Mahomes has Kelce, Hill, Watkins 2 All pros and nobody uses that narrative against him. Only Rodgers, Mahomes, Wilson and Allen have been better IMO this season.

AB is a disaster waiting to happen. If it's AB or Godwin you pay Godwin.

It's one thing for AB to stay put of trouble for half a season with his career on the line. It's another once he gets that big payday. What is brady gonna do have him stay in his house forever?

It’s not AB or Godwin I put it Godwin vs AB and Edelman. No need to pay Godwin a max contract when you can get two guys like that for cheaper. Evans/Edelman/Miller is still a good group of you are assuming AB gets suspended again

You have a point

This, especially if they look at riding out the string with Brady for 2-3 years and then doing a complete rebuild. Also, I'd like to see Brady with a full training camp and a healthy Evans and Godwin.

Mahomes hasn't been quite as dynamic this year compared to the last 2 years. In the playoffs against better d, those near interception will turn into actual interceptions. I can see a KC upset loss in their 1st playoff game.

Yet Brady got robbed of a pro bowl to Murray who just choked in a must win game. Murray is like the 10th best QB this year. It's all good though as it adds to Brady's growing list of grievances that motivates him in the playoff.

I'll concede on Rodgers and Mahomes. I think however that Brady, Wilson, and Allen are interchangeable in the 3-5 rankings. I'll give the number 3 ranking to whoever has the best week 17 game.
