PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Bills beat the Pats

Immediate Postgame Reactions
A few places doesn't amount to much. Look at it this way. Here are the picks using picks 10 and 15.
10-42-74-106-138-170-202
15-47-79-111-143-175-207

It matters early on if you are targeting a specific player (e.g. the DT1) because the farther down you are the less expensive it gets for other teams to jump you.

Of course the further down in the draft you get the less 5 spots difference matters.

He may be just a great locker room guy, but Cam is also about himself.
I do not see evidence that Cam is about himself. He ran the ball in because he was frozen in the pocket, barely escaped the sack and has no ability to recover and pass on the run. So he took off and ran into the endzone. Did what he had to do because he does not have the skill or physical ability left to do anything else.

The organization is hardly crap; it’s excellent. But it needs an influx of talent across the Board. They’ve lost Flores, Dante, Daboll, Judge. They lost Ossenfort. There’s no Floyd Reese type to help out (not sure what Eliot Wolf’s role is); can’t say who that is now, but I think BB is the only coach/GM in the league. There are two front office vacancies and several more spots that could be created. BB needs help.

At minimum, on the field, they need two DTs, an edge, another two LBs. At minimum, they need two QBs, two WRs, two TEs. That’s 11 quality players. A few of those could come from rookie/sophmore development or players returning (Uche, High) but I wouldn’t bank on it. They need an influx of talent. Forget guys who can play in the system and get talent you can create a system around.

I dunno. His pre and post-game comments about how much he's had to sacrifice this season including his (supposed) sleep and practice schedule tells a different story.

Inquiring minds want to know. How do you not cover the gunners on a punt?
They didn't cover them because the Pats pulled that move in another game (bringing their blocker in to block the punt) and the other team's gunner followed him in leading to a Pats return TD. We actually discussed it on Patsfans This time the other team was prepared for it. Basically, the Pats got outcoached by the Bills.

Your record is what you are. The Pats are a barely middling mess right now that need some serious roster turnover to be competitive again.

Lose to the Jets and Broncos Chargers Football team Cowboys and Vikings win, and we can get the 9th pick. Must lose game.

Embarrassing as hell. Once again this is all on BB. He bungled this transition about as badly as one could possibly bungle it. I do not want to hear about outputs or salary cap either. He has mismanaged this badly.
The virus excuse is still in play... for Bill and Cant.

The Bills were hardly trying at that point.
In the the 1st half with the score 10 Bills - 3 Pats?

NE scored its only TD of the game on that drive.

1st & 10 at BUF 40

(11:51 - 2nd) (No Huddle) J.Taylor up the middle to BUF 12 for 28 yards (M.Milano).

I realize this shellacking - that I predicted - could have been much worse, but the game was relatively close at that point.

It was a pretty bad game at a time in a season where putting too much time into analyzing things seems like a waste of time.

Personally, I thought the first quarter was pretty much a microcosm of our entire season. We started the game well, the offense rolls, then the OL has a total breakdown on that read option between Cam and White (?) and on the next play you get a perfectly executed double pass only for Byrd to drop an easy catch inside Buffalo's 10. Two plays in a row we screw ourselves with ****ty execution.

On the flipside we put ourselves into the position of almost forcing two turnovers on defense, except on the fumble the ball conveniently bounces back into the Bills' player hands while he is surrounded by 3-4 of our defenders and before the endzone INT we commit a presnap penalty. A mix of bad bounces and self inflicted wounds.

Similarly early on we consistently get the Bills into fourth down situations but then get unlucky with low percentage completions (Knox on Dmac) or bail them out with giving them a chance to pass on a punt. The latter was a teaching moment for Cam Achord who got a little bit too cute already against the Chargers with exactly this punt formation. Unlike the trash Chargers the Bills came prepared for that specific look and immediately took advantage when their gunners were wide open.

Even though the MNF was 95% trash to listen to the one nugget I thought they nailed was that short talk about 10 men doing the right thing and then one player screwing the team with bad execution. And it seems to me like inconsistent execution is the real story of the year for this team.

As much as posters want to pile on Cam for his inability to throw screens, find his checkdowns or that inaccuracy on short passes there are at least as many plays that were screwed up in pass protection or skill position players. Whether that is blown blocks like Asiasi today, drops like Byrd or penalties that set the offense back time and time again throughout the season, there was no single point of failure but many issues all over the place.

For a team that for most of the last two decades has executed their plays and gameplans like clockwork this has been abysmal and the main reason why we will end up with a losing season.

I also think our whole O line with the exception of Andrews will be back, our rb core is solid, our young tight ends, Harry, Meyers...him, I guess that's it. We'll need a few upgrades.

Bill's press conference was the MOST depressing Pats press conference I have ever seen in over 50 years as a football fan. Bill seems like he might go out and hang himself. Would not give Josh Allen any major props. I really feel like BB needs to take a break from football. He was slumped in his chair like he was a 16 year old adolescent getting ready to play call of duty.
His pressers used to bother me but the Pats won so much that I stopped caring. Eventually I stopped watching them and still don't.

I do not see evidence that Cam is about himself. He ran the ball in because he was frozen in the pocket, barely escaped the sack and has no ability to recover and pass on the run. The #1 jersey. No, you aint #1 and you pass like #2.

All the comments about returning to Superman form. Cam is the one bringing this horse$hit up. Who gives a F?

The attention seeking outlandish outfits. Who is Cam wearing today? Gucci Whats he going to show up in next? A dress?

He wants that record make no mistake about it.

I took that to mean he knows he sucks and is hoping the appearance of commitment will keep him in the league. He has no ability or performance left to keep him in the league, so he is talking about commitment which I am sure he does have. The ESPN guys talking about it ad nauseum is typical because they can not talk football. 3 announcers and they still have to constantly talk off topic to fill space. Cam knows it is the end so he is desperate, grabbing straws, but I do not see that as self-centered. Maybe I am being too nice.

BB seemed damned embarrassed at the press conference. Kraft has been in hiding so who knows what he thinks.
I hadn't noticed Kraft's hiding until you mentioned it.

If the coach and GM were 2 different people does anyone even want to try and debate the fact that our GM would be fired or be on an extremely hot seat. Forget the mishandling of the GOAT the last few years, but look at the roster. Even if you had hightower and chung it wouldn't change much. BB the coach is not being given a chance due to the crappy roster. I expect a great offseason.
