Those that would cheer for Brady vs the Pats in the same game are not Pats' fans. Simple.
Agreed, but who here has said they will be doing that? Oh yeah. I remember now. Nobody.

Tom left for 2 reasons, 1, enough money that he felt respected, and 2, enough weapons that he didn't feel like it was a grind, where he kept having to be the bright spot on an otherwise not-elite team. Subtracting TFB from NE put TFB in an immediately good situation, and, well, we know what it did to NE. It's also in a big stew pot of NE-specific 2020isms almost as fun as the real life 2020.

We responded to the virus as bigger than football -- which I think was smart -- so it was, in terms of football results. Many impact players took the year off (disproportionately so.) Cap space made it really hard to scrap and compete for other talent. We ended up with a depleted roster and a QB who ended up playing up to the very low expectations we put on him, among other ills.

No excuses for BB (he said, after a paragraph of what I'll call ahem "reasons"; we'll see how it all shakes out post-Brady.) But I don't think you can say after 2020 that we know that Belichick wasn't that important. By the same token, all we've established is that Brady can still bring it at an elite level against Detroit -- although if it's not against NE, it's fun to watch him succeed. Point is, he made the playoffs, he didn't just win another SB.

Now if TB goes deep in the playoffs, you can say TFB won the divorce, for now. If NE turns into the Browns of the 90s, I guess maybe BB wasn't that important -- just a decent coach, right place, right time. We'll see if Coach/GM BB can return to form... but I don't think enough data's in right now.

Gonk has 594 yards and 7 TDs.

So much for riding off into the sunset to retirement. Many here said he would risk his health playing again.
It could be much higher. It actually works better for him cause he was being run to the ground in NE.

It took him several games to get used to the system and get into game shape.

For half the season he had to share targets with Howard who is a TE1 himself.

He is being used sparingly as a receiver. They have so many weapons that they don't need to target him so much and they really use him a lot for blocking.

If Gronk wants to continue playing, Tampa may give him a 2 year deal at $18 or $20 mil which would not good for him. Finish his career in FL with Brady in a role that is perfect for him. I think Tampa may move on from Howard. Just too injury prone. Their number one priority this off-season seems to be re-signing Godwin which is smart.

Well, it hasn’t been perfect but Brady’s season looks pretty darn good. Everyone I know figured he should go there and immediately win every game. I did not think that as I felt like a new system, staff, players, no real training camp, practice being iffy with COVID. All that change , even when you have players like that, takes time to put it together. It’s like all star games, they usually suck because even though everyone is great, they don’t know how to play together

There was no reason to not extend Brady. None. Some day hopefully there is a book so we can try to understand if possible how Bill let the GOAT go after he had just won his sixth ring.
After a couple years of nobody to throw to because of poor BB drafts, TFB wanted to leave. Gronk retired. 2019 OL was a mess with injuries, disabling not just protection but in addition the fallback running game strategy. Brady looked utterly dejected on the bench in 2019 and similarly in postgame pressers. Then to kill any faint hope, Bobby K under media attack for HappyEndingGate jettisoned self destructive AB Tom's only 2019 target making playoff success impossible.
We also now see that he and more likely Gisele could not wait to say Adios to NE winters.
Had BB given Brady his 2 year deal as most of us think he should have, Tom still would not be thrilled here in 2020, barely making the post season with no serious hope of winning the AFCCG. The *****ing from Gisele locked down inside in Brookline winter instead of enjoying the FL open spaces would make his 2020 Pats life Hell.

We haven’t had that much production in two seasons with all of our TE’s combined. Didn’t tally close to that many yards and we have ONE TD by a TE in two seasons.

Disturbing mismanagement of the position and poor scouting and draft choices.

Also the division has caught up.

Extremely doubtful the Pats would ever win a Super Bowl again with Brady tbh. But his presence would have at least kept them competing and bought them time to find a legit QB that can take over for Brady. All we know is Cam isn’t that guy and neither is Stidham.

While I agree, the draftniks here would be depressed because TB here would ruin any chances of 2 picks in the Top 50.

Regarding the Division it's striking what somewhat competent coaching and management can do to transform a losing team that has accumulated underutilized draft talent.

K you are really dumb. My remark, post, was about the remark, post, made by RicoG. KontradictionN try to follow along with the posts within a thread. You will enjoy this forum better and not be making false statements, as you just did. In case you don't try to insult me again before the New Year, I wish you a Happy and especially a Healthy New Year in 2021. Wear your mask, don't chew it, K.

pretty much. Its why I dont really fault brady for leaving. at 43 he doesnt have time to wait for Bill to "rebuild" around him again as he did when he was younger. Likely Patriots go one and done in the wildcard again with brady. But it does give Bill "time" to keep looking for another guy.

Bill handled the situation poorly as he acted in 2020 as if it was 2017 and he had Jimmy Garropolo waiting in the wings to take over. For some reason once they got rid of Jimmy G, Bill still operated as if he was behind brady. Thats what doesnt make sense to me. The transition was Brady to Jimmy. when Jimmy got traded it was a clear message of "all in on brady" instead they didnt go all in on Brady or Jimmy or even decide to draft another QB high the next 3 years. very bizarre

Yeah. JG was the plan for sure. Once he was shown the door, you either commit all-in to Brady or you find someone else right away if you feel Brady is not a long term answer. Pats certainly didn’t do the first option and are very late to the game in the second, but hopefully it’s clear they need to start.

I know it was. What you posted was this...

...to which I asked who here has said that? Nobody. I also agreed with you and went rounds with Deus Irae in the offseason about this very subject. So why are you posting some pious football platitudes (you may need to Google that one) about something that is not going to happen here? As for the rest of your post? You think that was an insult? Let me give you a little perspective, then. If you consider my response to you an “insult,” it might be time to shove a battery-operated bildo up that vagina of yours, give yourself a good squirt all over your torn flower love seat from 1976, and chill out. Hard to believe a supposed grown ass man considers that an “insult.” You’re as soft as sponge cake. That’s an insult. The previous response was a legitimate question of the rhetorical variety. Now, take a seat and let the men talk.

They were all in with Brady their inaction at the QB position is the proof of that.

i just think that the Philly SB broke something between Tom and Bill and they went in confrontation mode after that and Bill still thought that Brady would never leave and he was wrong. I cannot blame Brady to pissed after he asked for a commitment and Bill refused after his screw up in the SB.
