Should we sign Ryan Fitzpatrick?

Patriots have the worst QBs, absolute worst QBs, so anything that can throw a pass without ****ting its pants when rushed should be a huge upgrade to whatever BB has made of this position this year

That’s a good point, I hadn’t thought of it from that angle.

I do not think playing Stidham for 2 games after the team is out of the playoffs is "a revolving door". Cam is gone anyway next year.

If BB did not want a "revolving door" he could have offered Brady more money, could have used Thuney's $14M to sign Mariotta or Winston. Either one would have come here to start. Do you want Thuney or a QB? That was the decision.

Nothing to do with a "revolving door".

He’s a really good backup. One of the best in the league. Many times better than Hoyer.

But to be honest he inspires 8-8 if this team loses more pieces. If he would of started this season it may have ended 9-7 10-6.

The idea of fitz is only appealing if the moneys right and if we also address the future at the position in the draft. Prefer fitz for 1 year only. If you go 2 years I would want that contract front loaded since in this scenario he’s the backup in 22.

Do everything possible to get Garropolo back.
I think Garoppolo is a nice fit... No he's not the greatest ever but he will be good. He can be had for a reasonable cost compared to some of the mega QB contracts out there. He already knows the system and trusts the coaches. He isn't going to set the world on fire but he would be a known quantity, able to run a quality offense without breaking the bank and allow more resources to be used on fixing up the offense. FWIW I think Stafford would do the same but isn't a known quantity in this offense, no established relationship with the staff, etc.

Very curious what the market for these guys will be, if a trade will be necessary and how costly it would be if so. My main concern with Garoppolo is the durability issues - would the team be comfortable allowing Stidham to start a few games a year when the guy inevitably gets hurt?

You really want another Jekyll and Hyde QB on the team? Bad Fitz in Week 1: 20/30 for 191yds, 3INT, 1Fum. BB doesn't believe in Magic, anyway, so we might have to suck it up next year and eat our Oikos yogurt (even though they dropped Cam after the women/routes/funny remark) because he might have this stubborn belief in alchemy (turn turd into milkshake).

One thing I do like about Fitz is that he has that "clutch gene". You can't teach that. He's like TB in that regard and unlike Cam. With that said, I would pass on him though...I'd rather a younger qb....not sold on Jimmy G either, but if I had my choice between Jimmy, Cam and Fitz, I would probably lean toward Jimmy.

The Patriots have to use their 1st round pick on a quarterback. If possible trade up to do it. None of the potential free agent veteran quarterbacks will be the solution. The team is really a mess with so many positions lacking in talent. Both Buffalo and Miami have talented foundational pieces to build around, Buffalo being further along in the process. Belichick has done such a poor job drafting that they're practically starting from scratch. The team will have a lot of progress to make to catch up with Buffalo and Miami. And that's just in their division; they're even further behind other teams in the conference.

Been away for awhile. Missed talking to a bunch of you
Fitzpatrick would be a nice backup at the right price
Have not been following draft prospects
Is there a QB in the draft that would be in our drafting range
that would bring back some excitement or do we trade for one
that a team is moving on from and start to replace other needed areas of the team

Only as a bridge QB if we draft our future one. We are in a rebuild that will take a few years so I can see using a guy like Fitztragic or Tyrod Taylor while the rookie learns.

I know he’s 38 and he’s either feast or famine, but he can throw the ball and I think you could get him for a year or two as the “bridge” option.

Plus I so badly want him to sign with the Patriots so he completes the tour of the AFC East. When was the last time a player played for every team in a division? Especially a QB!
No

What if the top 4 qbs are off the board by the time we are on the clock and we were unable to move up? You still think we’re pigeonholed into reaching for the next tier of qbs? You said in your post we are devoid of talent at multiple positions. If there’s a better player at a position of need who’s falling down the board due to a qb run shouldn’t we take that player instead?

Did you guys know he went to Harvard?

Welcome back Busta! BYU's Zach Wilson looks like the best-case choice for the 1st round...Maybe the UGA kid with one of our 3rds + a small trade-up if Bill doesn't take Wilson (or Trey Lance or Nick Saban's Mac Jones) in the 1st...Keep your eye on the Draft forum for updates as the weeks/months continue...

Well, they're losing to Buffalo. Gase will be fired post-haste if the Jets even sniff another victory so they will be in full tank mode week 17.

The Patriots will finish 7-9 which will not have them in ideal draft position but yes that 1st round pick has to be a quarterback. Belichick will have to be aggressive in trading up if necessary.
