Call me crazy, but Cam's Instagram sounds like he's gonna be on the bench for these last 2 weeks

I'd take Cam as a trick QB, a guy you bring out when you want to make certain plays hecan do better than anyone else, sort of like the way the Saints use Taysom Hill. Dude can't throw but he's still got good smarts and decent wheels.

I'd also broach the topic of Cam plating RB or TE, both of which he probably has the talent to play if he's willing to learn, and which would eliminate the problem of his bum throwing arm.
When your RB has to point out the MLB, you shouldn't be on an NFL roster. The dude is a joke, and BB is embarrassing himself every week he puts him out there.

You can bring back Cam , draft your next guy and have most of your cap left to restock the shed.

One option does not nullify the other. Is that the route they go? Don't know. You have to put some weight into what Belichick is saying and doing. He's sticking with Cam when there is little value left in doing so.............take that however you want it.

If Cant is willing to return on a one-year, zero-guaranteed, vet-minimum contract to compete with Stid, Dolegala, another vet & a draftee, then yeah why not? Otherwise fuhgeddaboudit.

No I disagree. Mahomes is good but not six games better good in this offense. No #1 WR. No TEs? He needs those to work his "magic".

The skills position players would probably look a lot better with a QB who could actually throw them the ball.

And the thing is the Patriots have been largely competitive despite terrible QB play.

I mean they were competitive with the best team in the league for 3 quarters with Brian Hoyer at QB

Unfortunately it doesn't exactly work like that. The team would be very bad in the pass game regardless. The reason we have been competetive is because we went with our natural strength, which is the run. We have a QB who passes less than any QB who began the year as a starter and is still one of the most productive rushing QB's in the league.

You bring in someone else and pass more, you move away from your strength and lean into your weakness. Even with a better QB the passing game is still going to suck. It sucked the last half of 2019 with Brady passing the ball and it was largely a historically good defense that kept us respectable, but even that team was going nowhere fast and was apparent after the first half of the year.

Add "and also compete with Jules and with Meyers," two former college quarterbacks who might just throw the ball better than Cam. Heck, the last three seasons when he passes Edelman is 6 for 6 and a 21 yard per catch average, with qb ratings of 118, 158, and 118.

Belechick ended the 2006 season extremely pizzed off. 2007 saw an infusion of offensive talent...Moss, Welker, Stallworth...signed A.T. from the Ravens. He's in the same boat this offseason with arguably much more capital. I think Newton is dead as disco. Wish I could crystal ball BB's draft but that's always folly. Free agency is where I think we can really get a good grasp of what he'll do. Relax, it'll all unfold in time.
He has more capital, but a lot more holes to fill as well. The 2006 team needed receivers, even Thomas was a luxury item considering they had a good defense. This team needs receivers, tight ends, linebackers, DTs, DEs and, most importantly, a quarterback. Different ballgame.

Patriots are 6-8 with Cam Newton

With an average QB they easily flip
Denver
Bills
Dolphins 2nd time

That gets you to 9-5

Honestly given that the Rams only managed 17 points on offense, and 7 of those required multiple 4th down conversions I think thats a flip too.
Texans also probably flip, and certainly are going to Mahomes

That gets you to 11-3

Given how close we played KC with Hoyer. I think switching out Hoyer for the best QB in the league gets you the win.

That gets you 12-2 and the #1 seed.
You are very optimistic

if he does, should belichick's seat get hot or is that crazy talk?

Hell will freeze over before it ever gets warm.

BB still puts in more work than maybe two or three of the coaches in the league. He still coaches at a very high level.

Trust me when I say that BB the coach, is the least of our problems.

At this point it might be the only contract he gets offered which makes it more of a no brainier, imo. As awful as he's looked over the season you just can't dismiss how bad his supporting is as well.

I respect everyone's opinion but Alex Smith / Ryan Fitzpatrick / Andy Dalton do not elevate this team back to being a contender. They are all stuck in the "meh" group joined by Cam. We'd merely be jogging in place just at a faster pace. Sure our receiving TDs may go up...we may have a few notable "fantasy players" on our team, ultimately our Ws do not increase by much if at all.

If you can have an experienced qb in camp- experience in the 'Patriot Way' and he's cheap.. Do it. Like him or not , Cam has been the ultimate citizen and by all accounts a total workhorse behind the scenes. If you're bringing in a young gun, why wouldn't you want him exposed to that?

As far as BBs seat getting hot? I doubt he's ever going to be in that situation with the Kraft's.

Just dump whatever method you've been using to scout WRs. Heck at this point we probably would have better luck going by a guys youtube highlight reel video comment section....HAH...I'm laughing because I don't want to cry.

Bill would need like 3-4 abysmal seasons to even consider it and even then it would be controversial

I've been saying for a month or more that I think and hope the Krafts will force Bill to yield up at least some authority re the draft. They'll insist, that is, on a genuine and significant restructuring or reorganization (couldn't care less what they call it) of this aspect of their business. They're smart and competitive and, push come to shove, they're tough enough to do it.

It is as obvious that Bill needs GM help as it is that Cam is not the answer at quarterback. The beginning of all genuine and positive change, in all aspects of life, is honesty about one's situation. Let's get honest about these matters.
