I can't count how many times I've seen the ignorant comments saying "if Stidham was a better option, he'd be playing" or "BB and the coaches know that Stidham isn't ready, and never will be", and even "Stidham doesn't have the talent or ability to be on the roster".

Enter James White - who knows a little more than you about football - just took the opportunity to give Stid some serious support.
“Jarrett is a good football player... Obviously, you could tell that coming in his rookie year learning and things of that nature. He has all the talent he needs to be successful in this league and I am sure he’s probably excited for whenever he gets the opportunity to step out there and I think he will be great whenever he does.”

So, how do you like them apples? I've said it a hundred times, there's lots of organizational reasons why BB has started Cam all year. But, none systematically exclude Stid from being a better passer, more accurate, and even better fit in the standard JMD offense than Cam. James didn't have to be so over the top, he could have said the cliche thing. This almost flies in the face of the stubborn responses from BB how Cam is the forgone conclusion at QB... or even "best for the football team". I think White is inadvertently admitting that he knows Cam hasn't been good. Lets hope we get to see vs the Bills.

That said, I'm not suggesting Stid will light it up, or be mistake free. It would be an extremely tough spot to suddenly get the nod against Buffalo. But if they do throw him in - they better not regulate the offense. Let everyone play, open the playbook, and just go sling it.

Belichick doesn’t want to start Stridham because if he does and he plays well people will see that he should have went to him earlier and question why he had Stridham in the doghouse and didn’t play him even though it hurt the team just like people questioned him not playing Winovich earlier in the season.

There are no Stidham haters. There are those of us who believe the Patriots can do a lot better than Stid in their search for the answer at QB - and have seen zero evidence to date to prove we are wrong. Or even might be wrong.

Finding the answer at QB won’t be as easy as the Stiddy fans assume it will be. It’s a lot of work. A guy like Brady falling into the Pats hands is a once in a century occurrence.

Except BB has a history of redshirting RBs -- which is what makes Michel's rookie season partly so impressive -- and thus has absolutely nothing to do with how he'd treat a QB in a year where the offense can't get anything going.

If Stidham had given the coaches any reason to start -- or at least play -- him so far he would have gotten time on the field. I don't get why people just ignore the obvious explanation that stares them right in their face.

How can you say that? From Butler in the super bowl a few years ago to Winovich this year there are plenty of examples of players not being on the field because of reasons other than their performance on the field or in practice. Belichick has a boomer mentality and his ego is his priority these days. This isn’t 2004.

James White need to join patsfans.com. Then he'll learn a thing or two

************ dude. if Stidham was a better option, he'd be playing - and it't not ignorant at all to be saying it.

Gostkowski was a rookie playing in the playoffs. BB decided to not kick a field goal ( I think it might have been 40-45 yards) and let Brady go for it on 4th and long.

Like Meyers. 15 years from now I will still be bitter over Zuber being active over an inactive Meyers earlier this year.

I think we will know the answer next game. If stidham does not start, it means belichick absolutely is not in favor of stidham and most likely is going to get cut or traded to another team.

There are two possibilities

Realist take - Stidham is not showing much in practice and belichick does not even consider him to be a backup. So he is punting on cam hoping at some point lightning strikes .

Optimist take - belichick is shielding stidham from getting slaughtered with poor offensive talent and lack of defensive playmakers and feels stidham needs an offseason more to start . So use cam as stopgap option so that stidham does not get the brunt of replacing brady which could emotionally and mentally wreck him . Now that we are out of playoffs and stidham would technically replace cam. So bar has been set so low that stidham has an opportunity to succeed. Again this is wishful thinking and hoping belichick is like a super visionary who anticipates the emotional challenges of qb replacing brady.

If stidham does not start next game and we do not draft a qb in round 1, get ready for cam season 2 . And possibly belichick being in hot seat after another 7-9 season.

my take is that he told Newton, that in return for him signing, he will have the reins as long as the team remains in contention.

Anyone who dismisses Stidham after not practicing with the team at all in weeks leading up to the games he played should have thier cred checked. I admit, I was thrilled when they drafted the kid, and have been upset that Bill did not give the reins to him earlier.

I don't think this quote means much at all by itself, but this plus a few other things I've seen the last couple days make me think Stidham may actually be slated to start the next game... I could be wrong but mainly a lot of the stuff Newton said today sounded like words from a guy who is planning on being on the bench the next 2 games.

One can only hope

@fnordcircle you are James White's best friend please ask him what he really thinks of Stidham

Interesting to use the term "haters." Stidham has never played a complete game, or even a complete half. He has never been responsible for a Patriot loss, unless I have missed something. Maybe that photo of him sitting in throne does it.
