OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Bill put teams around Brady good enough to win 6 super bowls. Shame on him for not getting Tommy 10-12 rings.

Remember that 2nd round pick we had in the 2020 draft? Almost guarantee you that was used to trade for Sanu in order to satisfy Tommy. Then he left the pooch.
No one is claiming Bill didn't put good enough teams around Brady to win six Super Bowls. You seemed to think Brady should lose credit for going to a "loaded" team while Bill should get credit for what? Creating a team with a historically bad offense after letting a still more than capable QB leave with no backup plan at the position? I actually agree with you in the fact that they both needed each other but in your constant Brady bashing (trolling?) you just put blinders on and argue in this thread. I will ask again, what is it that Brady did that made you so upset?

You mean in the wild card round? The Titans are the Browns opponent if the season ended today. Won't be easy especially if they fumble like last night...
Lol I guess I didn't read the "win" a playoff game part.

No, but there are plenty Bill trashers on this forum who seem to think that it was all Brady. That's not what the facts suggest though. 3 out of the 6 super bowls can be directly attributed to a strong defense - SB 36, 49, and 53. SB 49 because Brady wouldn't have won without Bill coaching up Butler to interecept that pass.

As for Brady, he should have retired a Patriot, like Eli did with the Giants - Once a Giant, Always a Giant, and Only a Giant. Not sure what Brady's trying to prove by going to TB. I still think it's to get back at Bill to show him up. Now he's going to the HOF as both a Patriot and Buc. Somewhat dilutes his career to be associated with that crap franchise.

What in the everliving **** kind of mental gymnastics are these? SB49 attributed to the defense? I guess it wasn’t anything to do with Brady dropping 328 yards and 4 TD’s with no running game to back him up against a defense that absolutely embarrassed Manning the previous Super Bowl and Rodgers 2 weeks prior

Who is trashing Bill? I think Bill is the greatest coach of all time but is record without Brady is what it is. His record literally is a fact.

SB36 the defense was great but when they needed a drive to get in position to win the game who got them there?

SB 49 Logan Ryan gave up a TD with seconds before the half to that guy who works at a car wash now. He literally could have tackled him and thrown him out of bounds while the ball was in the air and still saved us 4 points. Brady also led us back from being down 10 in the third against a historically good defense.

SB 53 was another one he was largely aided by the defense but made the plays he had to make. He also got the toughest post season win of his career in my opinion 2 weeks prior.

Once again Brady is a grown man who can do as he pleases. He should hang it up to make some guy on a message board happy? He is in contention to make the playoffs again like he has done every single year he has been a starter outside of 2002. He is already statistically having his best season since his last MVP year in 2017. As far as "going into the HOF" this isn't baseball. You don't retire as a Bus or a Patriot.

SB 49 had Brady orchestrate what was at the time a tie fir largest SB comeback and had one of the best statistical 4th quarters ever. The only reason the game was even in doubt was because the defense let the Seahawks score in 30 seconds to end the half and then at the end of the game almost blew it again. The other two were more defensive but Brady led a big time go ahead drive.

I really don’t care that Eli retired with the Giants. Montana, Manning, Unitas, and Farve all played on multiple teams

Lol that's ok. It will be tough but it's not out of the question. Titans defense isn't that good.

I didn't finish that Jordan documentary and say "Yeah he was the greatest up until he played for the Wizards". No one cares. When Brady retires the fanfare will be insane and he will be crowned the greatest to ever do it by everyone.

Exactly. In 5 years there will be a debate whether Eli even deserves the HOF. When Brady retires the debate will be whether they should bypass the wait period

Sure, but why do people insist on bringing it up? It's to trash Bill. No other reason why. I mean the sky is blue is also a fact, but what's the point in me saying that?

SB 36: Brady did great on the last drive, but the last drive would have been irrelevant without Ty Law and the defense smothering the Rams. In fact the Rams didn't even enter the red zone until the 4th quarter. This one was on the defense.

SB 49: Again, Malcolm Butler's play due to Bill's coaching was the key moment. Brady threw 2 picks in this game btw.

SB 53: Defense mainly

I have every right to be pissed at Brady, just as he has every right to go to the Bucs. At the end of the day, his HOF bust will have BOTH Patriots and Bucs on it, which may be ok to some of you but not me. This is not a situation like Peyton who needed another ring to cement his status or Ray Bourque going to the Avs to finally get a Cup. Brady really didn't need to do it, and I think it's mainly because he wanted to stick it to Bill.

Almost zero chance of either of those happening. Eli will get in due to his wins against the Pats and the fact he's top 10 in TDs and yards. And no chance that they will bypass the 5 year waiting period for Brady.

The greatest thing of all is that Brady will be crowned by people who did everything they could to disparage his greatness for far too long. Of course he'll be respectful to them when it happens because that's how he was raised, but he would be well within his rights to tell them all to f**k off.

This picture says it all...

Eli won't be a first ballot HOFer but it's almost a lock he will get there. 2 rings and 2 SB MVPs.

He has 9 TDs, 9 INTs vs LAR, KC, NO, and GB this year.
Is this a joke? You think when people look back on Brady they’re gonna hand pick 4 games from the 2020 season? You’re grasping at straws. When they look back at this year they’ll see a 43 yr old QB who threw for about 36 TDs and brought a perennial losing franchise to the playoffs. No one will be hand picking through how he did in a few games.

And all Bill had to do was give Brady a somewhat respectful contract. Asking him to sign 1 year incentive laden contracts when you know he can get multi year guaranteed deals elsewhere is on Bill. He made that bed and now he has to lie in it.

I'm not talking about what his legacy will be as a Buc years from now. I am pointing out the fact that Brady has struggled a lot against teams he would have beaten in the past - perhaps Bill would be helpful here, hmm....

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Bill but credit where credit is due, that play wasn't thanks to Bill. Browner destroyed his WR and butler diagnosed the route before it happened and made an amazing break/play on the ball, thanks in part to opportunistic Ball placement by wilson. Also, since you seem keen on placing blame, how about the fantastic coaching to give up a touchdown with 40 seconds left before halftime.

Bill made Malcolm practice that play in practice. It's not as if Butler came up with it on his own. The last drive of the first half was basically Jamie Colins missing a tackle on Wilson, and Arrington giving up a big pass play to Lockette. I will give you that Arrington should not have been on the field in the first half, but the credit the coaching staff for pulling him for Butler in the second half.

Most definitely. Bill and Josh are better coaches than Arians and Leftwich, no doubt about that. I think that there would also be an adjustment period for the Bucs and Brady though. He’s in a new system for the first time in 20 years and had no offseason. They weren’t gonna light it up from day 1. But let’s remember he’s taken a perennial losing team and has them sitting in a playoff spot and personally he’s having a very good statistical year. Brady is basically charting his own map for a 43 year old QB.

Sure, I'll agree to that

Ronald Jones to have surgery. He's there best back by far.
