Extend Newton

Mahomes, JimmyG, Goff and Wilson don't belong on that list. They are exactly what I am talking about.. what comes after the end of the classic pocket passer.

The rest of your list is already gone or fading away as their skillset is less of an advantage than it was 10 years ago.
Sure they do. They're QB's that can run and any success they've had has been because of their passing ability. It's what all running QBs need to learn to be truly successful.

Let's see how the next few games look...He's trending in the right direction, including being much more careful with the ball...He needs more help from the WRs & TEs than Meyers & a little Byrd...I want to see what Isaiah Ford & Jordan Thomas can do, ASAP...and as soon as the rookie TEs are physically fit enough for action, then GET THEM THE **** OUT THERE.

None of the "lousy wespons" argument fixes Cam's footwork or passing accuracy. Even with tight windows a QB can set his feet properly and thow the ball where the receiver will be. Cam is getting better as you note, but we are comparing to very poor earlier personal performances. Look at Cam's performance, not the stats, and not the weapons. Talking about TEs in a Cam thread is "throwing" smoke.

Amazing how quick bb took to defending Newton and for some reason bb keeps trotting newton out to there game after game.

if bb truly believes newton is best for the team and stidham can’t raise his game enough to take the starting job away from newton, then we may be stuck with newton for a while.
Someone recently said something like "Stidham pees down his leg" every time he takes the field and I can't shake off how accurate that feels from him so far. Maybe bb feels that way too.

Bill should know. He drafted him and has been coaching him.

I really thought Josh would design a Cam offense that utilizes his strengths. Instead we still see an offense for the guy who isn’t here anymore. Cam game manager is ok but game managers don’t win games like today.

With no real offseason and camp maybe it was too much to ask to rewrite the playbook but it’s bizarre we are still running plays for Brady here. Cam is the wrong QB for that kind of offense.

Cam is horrible, but Stidham is worse. We are, like most NFL teams, a QB away from being a contender.

Yes, but
Not this year, the defense today could not stop a nose bleed. Not sure if Dont'a could have made a difference but our defense needs major work.

I am so glad that the Patriots only gave Cam a "show me what you got" contract" and haven't extended him yet. If he keeps playing like this and the Pats feel that they need to extend him, he should be pretty cheap.

Yeah - waiting sure looks like the sensible move on their part right now.

Thinking if things continue as they are, cam will finish with a losing record and more int than td. Wonder if he could be signed at a similar yearly salary, he’s definitely got value at least as a backup who wouldn’t single handedly cost us a game like hoyer in Kc. Besides, if the plan is to draft someone next year you still need a cheap backup plan.

"Right Now?" Since he arrived he hasn't been consistent. I will give him a couple of games because he was sick. One more year while the Pats get a QB.

Indeed it does, including our vaunted (overpaid?) secondary...The game was over at halftime because of them.

Burrow is out in Cincinnati for 9 to 12 months. As bad as he knee's damage is, it is most likely 12+ months, and Burrow might not be back until 2022. The Bengals need a "fill in" QB with a great attitude and leadership abilities - winning is not really required. Do you know anyone that fits that description and might be available in 2021? Think hard!

Newton would look good in a bengals uniform.

I’ve never seen a starting qb look so uncomfortable trying to put touch on a 5 yard pass. I’m no qb guru or scout just a casual observer , but the dude looks like he’s trying way to hard when putting touch on a pass, it all looks forced, nothing natural.

He looks like he hops a bit on some of those short passes too. It's like he can't throw short with his feet planted.

Yeah no thanks
