Baltimore is a 7½ point favorite in next Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium. The Ravens are 6-2, two games behind Pittsburgh in the AFC North. Last week they won 24-10 at Indianapolis despite a slew of injuries to key players.

This victory over Indianapolis felt different because of the adversity facing the Ravens.

The Ravens were missing several key players on both sides of the ball because of injuries.

Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), rookie right guard Tyre Phillips and starting running back Mark Ingram (ankle) were all ruled out prior to the game. The Ravens were also missing Pro-Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey (COVID-19) and starting middle linebacker L.J. Fort (finger).

Then, defensive end Calais Campbell (calf) and cornerback Khalil Dorsey (shoulder) were injured in the first quarter. Dorsey returned but was injured again with just over five minutes left in the game. Campbell did not return.

They’d endured a trying week, fending off questions about Lamar Jackson’s sloppy play in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, processing a season-ending ankle fracture to left tackle Ronnie Stanley, dealing with the ripples from cornerback Marlon Humphrey’s positive test for COVID-19. The news grew worse right away when defensive end Calais Campbell left the field after hurting his calf during the first series. Everything seemed to catch up with the Ravens as the Colts did what they pleased on both sides of the ball. Only a fumble return by safety Chuck Clark kept them competitive.

The Ravens picked up their offensive tempo. Their line gave Jackson room to cook, and he responded by completing all 10 of his second-half passes, while using his legs to create better down-and-distance situations. An excellent Indianapolis defense that had seemed a step ahead of the Ravens for 30 minutes did not know what was coming next.

Calais Campbell set to miss time with a calf strain injury

This will end a streak of 98 consecutive games played for Campbell, dating back to Week 8 of 2014 when he was a member of the Arizona Cardinals

Campbell, who has been a key contributor to Baltimore’s 6-2 start, will miss at least two games according to Rapoport. That would indicate that the earliest Campbell could return would be on Thanksgiving when the Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.

Campbell’s ability to take on double teams, rush the passer, as well as open up pass rushing lanes for teammates, will be sorely missed while he recovers. However, the Ravens defense managed to smother the Colts offense Sunday without Campbell, holding Indianapolis scoreless in the second half. Derek Wolfe ended up playing a season high 51 snaps for Baltimore in lieu of Campbell.

The best power run and OZ team in the NFL against a defense that can’t set the edge and stop the run. I’ll take the over on that one. The real question is how many ill advised throws will Cam make in the face of the blitz that go the other way?

The Ravens defence is very good so hard to see Cam being able to put up that much points. We will need Guy back as a minimum to even have a chance to slow down their running game. Wonder what McD and BB are going to scheme !

I wouldn’t go that far. Gore averaged 3.8 YPC just a tick above his season average. The game was close because Flacco turned back the clock to 2012 and the secondary really missed Gilmore.

The good news is that the Ravens aren't nearly the team they were last season. The losses of Yanda (retirement) and Stanley (broken ankle) mean they're not getting the same run blocking, so it's a little easier to go light against them. The Patriots will need more production out of the DT position, whether that's Guy back, Davis increasing his snap count from last night's 12, Mack recently claimed off waivers, or Glasgow from the PS. Would also be nice to get more out of Dugger, who only played 4 snaps after missing two games.

Adrian Phillips was a big part of the Chargers' 4-0-7 defense that shut down the Ravens in the 2018 playoffs. He had 6 tackles, a fumble recovery, and intercepted one and deflected two of the three passes into his coverage.

People ragging on the Pats run defense, yet ratbirds are allowing 4.5 yards per carry which is the same as the Pats.

Ravens are physical on both sides of the ball, I have not seen that type of toughness from the patriots this year. This might be a replay of the 49ers game. Buckle up.

Yeah. This is pretty much a loss. That puts us 3-6. I think we can beat Houston, maybe the Chargers and the Jets again so we get to 6-10.

Seahawks could barely beat a bad Pats. Chiefs could barely beat a bad Pats team playing without a QB. Bills could barely beat a bad Pats team. Those are all supposedly conference champion contenders

This Pats team may lack talent but outside of the 49ers game where they turned it over too many times and it just got away, this Pats team seems to play to the level of their opponent and play them close.

I think it is a close game if Damien Harris can play and Michel returns. Pats do one thing well and it's running and the ratbirds aren't good against the run.

That should dispel this weird new myth around here that Harry isn’t thriving because the QB can’t get him the ball. Meyers seems to be doing just fine in the last three weeks even though he’s now become the focal point of the opposing defense. For Harry, a switch to Move-TE may be just what the doctor ordered.
