This is what Brady wanted. He was told by one of his former college teammates that Arians is a "brilliant" offensive mind. At the end of the day Brady made the decision to go to Tampa. Really, in my view, there's nothing good that can come out of playing for Tampa short of winning a super bowl. His own legacy is taking a hit.

You're right, it was all Brady's decision and as they say let a sleeping dog ... Brady's legacy has been taking a hit even when he was with the Pats. I don't think last night was on Arians. There is tons of receiving talent on TB. A team with this talent shouldn't have 4 straight 3 and outs that's on the QB. Brady was the entertainment and the entertainment stunk.

If Bruce Arians was coaching the Jaguars Brady would not have gone there. Brady went there because Mike Evans, OJ Howard, Chris Godwin, Cameron Brate and a solid offensive line were all in place. I know you like to fault Brady for absolutely everything but Brady didn't choose Tampa for Arians. Arians just so happened to be there.

I didn't say Arians was the reason he went there, did I? I merely repeated what a former Michigan teammate of Brady told him about Arians....that he was the most "brilliant offensive mind he's ever been around." Again, it was HIS decision to go to Tampa thinking success would come right away. The reality of it is it's going to take a while for that team to come together with all their new parts. It took Peyton FOUR years in Denver to win a super bowl and that was with Denver bringing in the Indy playbook. And again, he's soiling his own legacy if he doesn't win a title there. For his sake I hope he doesn't go to the SB and lose because he'll be 6-4, basically a Malcolm Butler INT away from being .500.

Only thing that can ruin Brady's legacy now is a failed PED test. Other than that he's set no matter the results in Tampa imo.

Brady went to TB because there was talent to cover up his shortfalls while he continued to think he was a NFL #1. Didn't happen last night the shortfalls showed up.

It's fascinating to see where fans' opinions differ from the consensus from outside the team. That used to be Donovan Smith for the Bucs, but now it seems everybody knows that he's going to have a few absolutely terrible games despite being a six-year starter on a $13 million per year contract.

Now, Bucs fans are turning on Devin White. His pass rush production looks good from the outside, but fans are really fed up with his coverage deficiencies. He allowed the third most receiving yards among LBs coming into the weekend, and he struggled again last night. He's another of the many examples of how running a super fast 40 time does not make a guy a "coverage linebacker."

If only my retirement-age backup fantasy QB who got a spot start this weekend didn't shat his pants.......
And.....if only my recently acquired starting TE wasn't dependent on my aging backup statue of a QB......

Does Arians not believe in quick/short passes?

He needs to prove he can be successful without Belichick...with all the talent he has around him (Evans, Godwin, Brown, Gronk, Fournette, Jones) he has to succeed or people will just say he was a successful system QB in NE. Like I said, nothing good can come out of Brady going to Tampa other than a super bowl.

I am glad you're inside of Tom's head and so worried for his legacy. I like how you and all the other anti-Brady crowd were just rooting for him to fail so you could come back in this thread with your nonsense. Anyways I hope you found a nice spot for your new Patrick Mahomes autographed jersey.

This so much. But it is not only Arians.

Bowles has so many chess pieces to work with and the defense has look good against inferior opponents but Payton to him to the shed yesterday. Jesus..

Leftwich is just a walking joke as OC. There is nothing that the Bucs are doing on offense that is innovative or takes advantage of all the talent on the field. More often than not everyone just goes through the motions and things work out due to talent. They look like a collection of players and not a football team.

What a disappointing game.

Toilet Bowles was so insistent on sticking with his soft zone shell schemes even though Saints came very prepared to dissect it. They knew where all the holes were.

Bowles is a man trying to ram a ball through a square hole and hoping that one of these days it'll work. Leftwich was also doing the same thing- refusing to scale down on the vertical attack and going with quick crossers, comebacks or curls or even just work the flat to help with a pocket that was collapsing as soon as the ball was in Brady's hands. So when both your DC and OC are ******ing, that's on the HC.

All a scathing indictment on Arians for being thoroughly outcoached.
These two posts pretty much sum up why the Bucs cannot be taken seriously when discussing the Super Bowl.

Arians is a below average coach who has always had a very good to great QB (besides Winston obviously). He does what he does and gets outclassed by smarter, more nuanced coaches actually coach their teams. As for Leftwich, I didn't even know he was their OC before this season. He's laughably bad at it. They both look wildly inept when things start going bad. They're both frontrunners.

Defensively, I really thought Bowles was the real deal and it was a question of how the secondary would mature. But I see he's also part of the problem. How do you go a complete half doing the same thing that's getting your team destroyed? As soon as the other team goes up 14 it's time to start trying some other things. Why was zone the featured part of the game plan to begin with anyway?

I couldn't figure out what the plan was on offense, and I thought the defensive plan was stupid. This "team" is a collection of talent. Let us once more be glad that, even though BB can legitimately be criticized at times, he's justified in his approach of not going after every big name that's out there. If that player doesn't fit, he doesn't fit. The Bucs do not look like a Super Bowl team to me and they haven't for a majority of the season. I've been very skeptical of them and they showed that it was justifiable skepticism.

Lol he doesn't need to prove anything to you.

Welcome back to the thread after a loss. Kind of predictable.

The defensive game against the Packers would beat anyone in the league including the Super Bowl. Last night was a few notches south of that. Has to be better.

Plenty of good stuff can happen. Maybe the haters who can't get over themselves will point fingers, but there has never been a more successful 43 year old QB in league history at 6-3 ! His stats are better at 43 than most QBs in their prime. In the future, no one will say Brady "failed" in Tampa if he maintains even CLOSE to this pace.

But really, his legacy is set. And anyone who calls him a system QB is bitter, jealous, or uninformed.

Factors in the debacle:
Head coach had them unprepared and had no Plan B, C or D. Can't stand the pretentious moron.
Bowels is all blitz and no holistic coverage, etc. Drop the zone and if one CB is exploited, that's why FS was invented. One trick blitz pony.
Leftwich cannot adjust. Stubborn insistence on deep plays. No WR bunches, etc. At least TRY to run one or even 2 series.
OL was putrid.
Tom had a bad game.

Putting on myTommy Boy Homer face, remember the time we destroyed division rival Jets 45-3 in December 2010? I was there.
What happened when we met the division rival Jete in January game one of post season?

I apologize to certain Patsfans for dredging up that nmemory.
I do like your post except when you bring up the part about the Jets... Rex is a much better coach than Arians, Leftwich and Bowles combined. If TB met NO again, it would probably be the same result. They actually looked worse last night with time to gel than they did in week 1.

The Bucs have issues like every other team this season, but one is not QB.
He's not an issue but he isn't carrying that team either. Even if you give him the deflected pick, the other two passes were awful. Then again, just about every Bucs' player was bad.

The thread is perfect : it's as inconstant as Brady and the Bucs.
Mostly agree... except when it comes to conspicuous absences when the Bucs are winning and an immediate resurfacing when they lose.

They need to mix it up more and they need to take more check down passes to the slot receiver. Brady is the goat cause of his success with moving the chains on the 5 and 10 yard passes.
I wasn't able to watch the game, but I noticed that Gronk had a lot of targets and only 1 catch? Did he play awfully too? Or was it the passes and DB?

Until they can do that consistently, I don't think there's a discussion. You can't look like world beaters one game and then a complete joke later. The pendulum swing cannot be that far for a team expected to play and/or win a SB.

You have no idea how afraid I am of this... it would destroy me as a fan. I'd probably not watch any sport for a while if Brady was ever found or even accused of PED's, steroids or anything else.
