OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I’m excited to see it. It’s going to be awesome to see that group. I think AB will be the #1 receiver within a few weeks and they’ll start blowing out every team by halftime.

The only thing they’re lacking is a good pass catching back which would really shake things up when defenses have to push the safeties back and/or also provide an extra blocker. Jones and Fournette aren’t quick enough in open field or very good at catching (Jones really sucks.) Vaughn should play more. They need a Faulk/White option out there, and it’s frustrating how they mis-use running backs with some 1990s smash mouth concept.

AB and Godwin are going to snag a million 10 yard passes and Evans and Miller are going to get a hundred bombs over the top. Gronk will stay in to block. The running backs may never see the field.

I wish it would be that way but you underestimate Leftwich

The Brady Effect
"It means a lot," Evans said of pulling out the ugly win, via the team's official transcript. "In the past we would've found a way to lose a game like that. The defense made a play when it counted [and the] offense picked it up in the second half and found a way to win."

The difference in past years is obvious: Tom Brady. The QB didn't make the big mental error when his team struggled to move the ball that could have turned a small deficit into a blowout.

All those stalled drives last night end up in 7 points once Godwin and Brown are playing. Pretty sure DC’s will be ****ting themselves when they go empty with Evans/Godwin/Brown/Miller/Gronk

Until a defense destroys that OL and has Brady seeing things. Like the Bears did.

The Bears game coincided with the most amount of injuries on offense this year. It may happen again, but if Brady has a healthy Evans, Godwin, AB and Miller out there, my bets are on him being the Brady who shreds blitzes.

I don't understand why people quoted this as though it only applies to Brady. Isn't this the case for every QB? See Roger against Tampa earlier this year. Having said that, he is probably one of the most resilient QB ever to keep bouncing back and fighting until the end of the game - see SB 42.

All night long, I assumed the Giants would find a way to lose, and they did. FWIW, I thought that final play should have been a penalty but NY still would have found a way to lose.

I think Jones is a pretty bad QB, and it's tough for me to say that when you look at some of the great passes he made on that final drive, including a couple 4th down conversions.... but, as the announcers pointed out, there were simply too many mistakes and missed opportunities.

He sucks, and while that rainbow touchdown to Tate was beautiful, that’s overrated in terms of difficulty level. He missed so many open receivers downfield in addition to his bonehead mistakes.

I’m concerned that Vita was a huge loss for Tampa. The Giants ran it right up the gut all night...which had Jones constantly having second-and-short opportunities.

Vita was a big loss for them, no doubt about it!

So what you’re hoping for is a team plays them on Thursday night while they don’t have AB/Godwin?

This was going into last night, and it doesn‘t even account for the excessive PI penalties:

Yet his overall YPA is only 7.1.

A lot of it is because Jones sucks as a receiving threat...

He has 27 targets, which is a lot (Mike Evans only has 39), and is averaging a horrendous 3.2 yards per target. Somewhere around 6 yards per target is pretty good for a RB. Fournette is actually doing better than I thought at 5.4 ypt. He is also averaging 4.9 ypc to Jones 4.6 ypc.

Yet despite Fournette being a far superior receiving back and a better runner, Jones has 128 touches to Fournette’s 48.
It's somewhat surprising that Brady didn't eclipse 5k yards in 2007.

There is no other team in the NFC with Chicago's defense except Tampa. I like Tampa's chances though vs the Bears again as it won't be on a short week and if the Tampa receivers are healthy + AB than it won't be a repeat.

He was on a 5k pace after the Week 11 Philly game.

After that game he became somewhat human.

Compare Games 1-11 per game and 12-16 and include the playoffs. Teams had caught up to them.

RoJo has stone hands. He is a horrific pass catching back. Him getting more snaps over Fournette just reeks of some Arians high handed nonsense about knocking Fournette down a peg.

I didn't like the way Brady played last night. It looked like 2nd half of 2019 Brady.

Look for Brown to get targeted the most on SNF. As they said in the broadcast, he lasts on the team unless he's found found guilty. They will get as much as they can out of him.

I heard last night that the Giants DC was the Miami DC last year. Not sure if that is true but they had a very good game plan vs Brady. But really the Tampa plan was awful. Very simple and predictable. The first down runs were awful. I assume they took for granted the Giants 1-6 record. The got a rock fight.
