Ah, I understand where you are coming from now. I agree for the most part but when your starting QB is 40 and you know you are not extending him and he has 3 years left on his deal, you have to draft the next guy. He did when Brady was age 37 and got Jimmy so I don't understand why he did not do it again after he traded Jimmy in 2017. This is why we are in the mess we are in now with no young guy to develop and looking at potentially having to pay Cam around $30 mil a year to keep him beyond this year.

I agree, but don't think we're in a mess personally. I never expected us to have a Pro Bowl QB after Brady. Few teams are that lucky. Cam Newton is the new improved Vinny T, and BB knows he can win with that. We are in a good place.

All that being said, do not forget that the Patriots always claimed they had a first round grade on Stidham, McConnell, Mallet, & Garopolo (there may be others who I'm forgetting). Before touting our grade drafting over the Bills, we have to say we also have a track record. I will admit the Patriots would have never drafted Losman or EJ Manuel, I'm not so sure we wouldn't spent #1s on the likes of Rob Johnson.

Sure. I am not saying it is easy to find the next guy which is why I don't understand why we didn't extend Brady to buy more time. He wasn't asking for the moon and can still play at an insanely high level.

Howard officially put on IR. 3rd time in 4 years his season has ended with an injury. I hope he can recover from this one...can be devastating. Howard's speed was impressive for a guy that big.

We'll see if Gronk and/or Brate have been running routes more by design (Howard is really the pass catcher) or if they just lack the speed. It would seem at first glance that Tampa's depth should soften the blow.

Howard's speed stood out to me. He scored on a route where he had almost two steps on the defender. They tried the same route with Gronk, same defender, and it was incomplete with the defender running stride for stride. The Bucs are losing out on that with Howard gone.

1167 yards
9 TD
5 INTs (3 pick-6s)
62.4%
95.8 QB rating
2 fumbles (0 lost)
2-2 record

1122 yards
11 TD
4 INT (2 pick-6s)
65.2%
99.4 QB rating
3 fumbles (1 lost)
3-1

If we are basing it on numbers alone he's been a marginal upgrade for Tampa over Jameis Winston so far.

So what are the expectations for the rest of the season?

Well I know it wouldn't be a team with SB aspirations that needed a RB and then went and won the SB with said RB playing a decent role in the playoffs and winning the SB.

Ask him to re-ask when Jackson wins a playoff game.

That is what Bill is paid to do. Find the next guy. He is the one that said you want to be early on getting the next QB when he drafted Jimmy when Brady was 37. I am not hung up necessarily spending a ton of draft capital per se but to have only spent a 7 and a 4 on QBs the last 3 drafts when Bill was not extending Brady is why the Patriots are in this situation right now.

We already had the next guys 4 years ago. It was Brady. And we already had the next guy this year as well............ it was Brady.

The "next guy" is the guy who helps you win the Championship this year and for a few more years.

We let Brady go for no frickin reason besides Belichick's ego.

Lol. Not looking good for the loud mouth anti-Brady crowd. Who woulda thunk the guy who has proved people wrong twenty straight years would do it again?

Bucs entire offense is Questionable except for Brady and RoJo against Chicago.

No kidding. So painful to watch. This defense is legit without Hightower and Chung and he let the GOAT walk with no plan.

If Brady was here would Hightower and Chung have opted in?

The cap salary math would make zero sense. Which 3 starters would not be on the roster right now to fit Brady ? I'm talking about before opt outs when we only had 1m total just to fit Cam under the cap.
