Official Post Game Thread- Chiefs beat the Pats

I disagree. I said it already in Ken's thread but using challenges a bit too liberally is what left us in a position with no recourse to fix last year's moronic out of bounds call on Harry against the Chiefs.

A timeout would have been nice to settle things down but also a potentially costly decision. If one of the refs indicated to BB that it was called in the grasp/forward momentum stopped then those are anyway calls that can't be challenged.

This leaves only one scenario where a challenge would have helped: down by contact. Which wasn't what happened.

This entire sequence is one of those cases where Sterratore just said flat out wrong things on the broadcast and now people believe that it could have been reviewed.
Did you read Reiss’ comments? He suggests Corrente didn’t offer that explanation until after the game, and the whistle was not blown until after Pats took possession.

I hate the guy? I hate that he sucks, that's all.

Keep telling yourself that. It might be true someday. All I've seen from you is that you hate the guy, period. You've never been willing to let him actually show what he can do. And I don't mean in a game where he had zero practice reps either. Basically, you've equated Stidham to a giant turd since he got to the Pats.

Stunning to see the Pats lose because of terrible situational football. The first half was a nightmare of blown opportunities. I still can't believe Bill and Josh could not find a way to get Stidham ready for a week 4 start.

Agreed. It looks like Stidham has the arm talent, but there is more to the position than that. It seems like Stidham is immature, or maybe not aggressive or not self-assured. Seems like a nice guy, but I am not sure it will ever work out. It is still early though. It took Brady 2 years before he replaced Bledsoe. Look at Josh Allen in Buffalo who is finally playing well in Year 3. It takes time and patience.

Also Newton took all of the reps all week, so it is a tough spot for anyone coming in with no reps. I did not expect Hoyer to show a great arm, but I did expect him to have the presence of a veteran which he did not have. Hoyer looked overwhelmed, stared down receivers, did not move well, and panicked in the big moments. The biggest sign was when Hoyer was trying to call a timeout at the end of the first half when we had no timeouts left. Either he was completely lost or knew he blew it and was trying to cover up to show he knew there was no time left on the clock. Either way it was a really bad look. It was a straight forward play, look for one or two receivers, and if they were covered, throw the ball out of the back of the end zone. Not tough for a veteran. Hoyer might be a good scout QB on the vet minimum, otherwise he is finished.

Didn't really pay attention, was it an accidental whistle or did the ref just (literally) blow it?

Refs blew it. It was either a fumble or a pass attempt that went right into Calhoun's hands. Never hit the ground. Never should have been blown dead. Definitely shouldn't have been an "in the grasp" call since Mahomes arm was up to pass.

Agree. Stidham is an interception machine. I wish I could buy stock in 'Stidham will have a sky high INT rate as a NFL QB'. He has throws that look pretty, but then makes poor decisions or gets way too greedy on the throwing windows.

Funny how you're able to blame Stidham for the interception off the Edelman drop. Shows the ignorance the rest of us are forced to put up with by your incessant posting.

Izzo is an absolutely horrendous receiver. Maybe he can block? 2 years in a row, the TE position has been probably the worst in the league.
Why are we not seeing AsiAsi or Keene?

Why is Izzo a "horrendous receiver"? He's made a few catches this year and had been an above average blocker.

I was surprised that the Patriots started Ferentz at Center. I can't believe him being in is better than putting Froholdt in at RG while leaving Thuney at center.

That being said, the fact that Harris was able to get 100 yards rushing last night and the team got 185 yards rushing in total says a lot.

I promise you if we start Stid in 2021 we are looking at Stid throwing the most interceptions in league history. Extend Cam 2-3 seasons.

Sorry..but he's not gonna throw more than 31 interceptions.. You're insulting Jameis Winston by saying so..

If the throw going there was a bad decision, how is pointing out that Edelman, who is one of the best receivers we’ve ever had in this offense at making pre- and post-snap reads, wasn’t expecting the ball a weak argument? The throw shouldn’t have gone there in the first place. Once it did, the placement was bad and it was a rocket. The results speak for themselves.

Yes, Edelman was surprised the ball went to him. Agreed. Stidham worked through his reads and threw the ball to the check down. Agreed. The check down guy is always the last option, the last read. Agreed.

Usually a rookie QB is criticized for staring down the first read and throwing it into tight coverage. Why aren't we happy that Stidham checked his other reads and checked down when no-one was open? Because Stidham threw the ball too hard? Have you ever watched Brady throw the ball to an outside wide check down? If you throw the ball "with touch" to a receiver out wide, the receiver will get killed by the time the ball gets there.

Stidham placed the pass poorly? The pass hit Edelman in both hands. I wish every pass Cam, Stidham and Hoyer throw hits the receiver in both hands. The pass completion % would go up.

I remember when Jules would make that catch, make the first guy miss, and pickup 12 yards. I guess those days are gone - not the same guy. I have a number 11 Patriots jersey and will ALWAYS love him, but Jules is not the same guy. Maybe one more year and that will be it. Let's hope that Gunner is the next in line.

Edelman made a bad play. If you play in the NFL, you make some. He has made hundreds of good ones. Flush it and move on.

Except Edelman had 2 of those plays last night. On one play he lucked out and Olszewski was there to make the reception. On the other it led to a pick 6.

As was mentioned, Edelman led the league in Drops last year as well and already had 5 this year.

That's not a good thing from the guy who is supposed to be the team lead for all the receivers.

Obviously if Edelman keeps dropping passes his days are numbered. But right now the upside outweighs the down. And Edelman usually has shown the ability to work on his flaws. He deserves shot to fix this

Jesus between you and Joker it’s like One Flew Over the ****oo’s Nest up in here.

Take your pills

Again. Maybe when you know 1/1000th the football that Joker does, you'll have the right to flap your trap and insult the guy. Until then, maybe you should stfu and listen to what others are saying when they contradict you. You might actually LEARN about the game instead of sounding completely ignorant every time you post.

Never said otherwise. Just pointing out that he had two big time screw-ups yesterday. And that's not something the leader of our receivers can have on any regular basis.

He's been like that for ages...That's why I have him ignored..

Who knew that the biggest know-it- all dooshbag on this board is also a pajama boy.

Just what Texas needs.

Would of been easy to just say you didn't mean to have it sound racist instead of go off the reservation. I don't know if it was but It didn't read too well to me either.
Would have been lying if he said that.

Before cutting Hoyer or Stidham consider this.

Hoyer 24 attempts - 15 completions - 130 yards - 62% completion rate - 0 TD - 1 INT - 2 Sacks. After Hoyer calmed down he made some very good throws and decisions. Hoyer was sailing balls in the beginning which led to the INT. A 62% completion rate is workable. The 2 costly mental mistakes resulting in 6 lost points did Hoyer in for the night, but they can be fixed.

Stidham 13 attempts - 5 completions - 38% completion rate - 1 TD - 2 INT - 0 Sacks. Some of his incompletions were dropped receptions just like with Hoyer. The INT in the endzone was brutal. Hoyer was locking on to Byrd. The Edelman INT needs to be caught, but the ball should have thrown at the numbers to where only your guy gets it or nobody does. Down by the goaline is a gift 7 points with not a prayer to tackle the defense from scoring.
