Lamar/Mahomes the next Brady/Manning rivalry

The Pat's defense dominated Peyton Manning.

The Colts spent all their money and draft capital on Manning and the offense, outside of a few good pieces they were largely one sided teams. The Pats were a balanced team in all three phases, that's why they won. Manning's only ring with the Colts came because of a broken Rodney Harrison forearm, otherwise Dallas Clark never would have gone off in the playoffs.

Exactly. Wins are and will always be a team stat over a QB stat.

It is weaksauce because, besides cherry picking one of the Brady wins out of the picture, basically you give Manning a pass for all those years he just wasn't good enough to make it to the AFCCG.

Dak Prescott would be an All Pro and lead the Chiefs to a #1 seed if he was their QB in that offense. Many other QBs too. Even Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Lamar Jackson's stardom will be short lived.

The real NFL QB battle is Mahomes vs Russell Wilson with Kyler Murray nipping at their heels as the future... assuming they put a real O-Line in front of him.

I'd take Josh Allen over Murray without hesitation.

Manning coming up small in the playoffs is an albatross that will always hang around his neck. If he was consistently losing 38-35 then he'd have an excuse but that was not the case. In 11 of his 13 losses his team scored 18 points or fewer and in 7 of those losses the other team scored 24 or less . He just needed to step up and could not do it.

there are others who are better too. Rodgers, Watson for example.

If Trevor Lawrence goes to the Broncos it will be him and Mahomes though in a nice and fierce AFCW rivalry

Jackson peaked too far too fast and his play style is going to get him injured.

So much Monday morning QBing about the Patriots picking Lamar Jackson in the draft but let’s be real. Mr. Gisele would have thrown a fit if they did that and we can’t have that. No chance they were picking him in that position because it’s a shot across the bow at you know who.

Green Bay seems to have delivered such a shot across Aaron Rodger's bow, and it seems to be working. All of a sudden he's willing to force balls into tight spaces instead of checking down to the easy throw.

Manning had two career postseason comebacks. One was a joke against the Steelers in 2015 (defense and rbs won it) and one was agains that 5th string Pats defense in 2006. Absolutely pathetic considering how many chances he had and how many times he failed to deliver to stay alive.

This speaks to my point. Comparing QBs based on H2H is silly since they are never on the field at the same time.

Brady dominates Manning because he has 6 Championships to Manning's 2. He has 9 Conference Championships to Manning's 4.

Not being in the hall of fame doesn't mean they're "mediocre talent". Reche Caldwell was mediocre talent. But Troy Brown was a pro bowler in the era when it meant something. So was Dillon 4 times. Branch was a SB MVP. Not exactly what I'd call mediocre.

Gronk was a first team all pro 4 times. Welker twice and Moss once. Those weapons are right up there if not better than any weapon Manning had.

It's true that the Patriots have had inferior weapons for Brady compared to Manning much of the rest of the time but he also never had a coach near the level of Belichick. Anyway like I always say the idea that Brady never had any good talent to work with is a total myth.

Agree that the Pats typically had plenty of offensive talent. They just define talent differently than most teams and value system knowledge higher than physical traits.
