Why does 1st round pick Sony Michel play like a jag?

I was hoping Harris would replace Sony next week, but what a hell of a game by Sony. Great running and receiving and pass blocking. Let’s see him keep it up.

Ok I’ll say something controversial. Sony had a fire lit under him after the 1st qtr. he started attacking the line after that. Is it possible that Ivan Fears has preached patience and following his blocks to Sony, thereby taking away some of his aggression? I do wish Sony had an extra gear but he had a great game today

watching film of him in college, it looks like he used to have that extra gear. No complaints about him today though.

Not on the blitz pick-up.. Clearly you're thinking about another play..

I saw a few nice blitz pickups. Perhaps you're discussing two different ones? I don't recall -- nor do I have access to the replay.

I was actually more impressed with his quiet but solid contributions to the passing game as opposed to 2 big gains that can pretty easily be attributed to blocking because all the RBs had moments on the ground today.

I’ve been thinking about Michel all week and what a luck luster season he was having, I’m glad he turned it around today, I’m hoping he keeps this up going into October. We definitely need the run game to carry us.

The play I'm thinking is Sony smashed a blitzer, giving gave Cam enough time to spot both Harry and Edelman crossing towards the left sideline. Edelman iirc had a man on him and also drew the zone defender. Harry's route was shorter.

Anyway, the blitzer crashed full speed into Sony and it really caught my eye how much it looked like that defender simply bounced off a wall. It was a thing of beauty.

It seems like he needs pressure to perform. Great game from him

He had one of his best games, if not best, of his career today. It would be nice if he could keep it up. Can't say I'd bet on it, but we'll see.

Sony played like the RB we expected out of the first round. I’m rooting for him to have more success however I’m still intrigued with Damien Harris. If I remember correctly he was the favorite to start coming out of camp.

Sony continues to be an important player in the RB rotation. With the skills of his peers it seems unlikely he will ever become a heavy usage player like some of the top backs in the league are but whenever the blocking has been decent he seems to deliver. Getting him a few catches a game along with Cam being a running threat could really open things up and hopefully this is the start of a big year. 4.2 YPC for career is pretty solid especially since he has been the main short yardage back since he arrived.

If I saw it correctly, all of the pitch plays to get wide were to Taylor. No pitch plays to Sony or Burkhead? Would love to see the backs be unpredictable by distributing the ball in different ways to all of the backs. Burkhead is a juking red zone guy, Sony is a better open field runner, but I think they can cross over enough to all be interchangeable and less predictable. I think Harris can do it all too.

Michel had a career long rush of 48 yards, rushing for 117 yards on 9 carries for the day. Michel also tacked on two receptions for 23 yards, finishing with 140 total yards of offense.

Glad he ran well and hope he builds on yesterday's game. I doubt it but I would love to see some production out of him.

Different styles, but he reminds me of Antowain Smith in a certain way.

You could do much better than him in timers of your RB1. But you could also do much worse. He’ll give you the yards you need.

My grandmother could have run through the space he was given by the line. His lack of speed was pretty evident when he did get in the open.
