Browns vs Redskins

RFK Stadium - Ricky Ervins came off the bench to rush for 133 yards and two touchdowns, including a 65-yard burst to finish off the scoring. The game was closer than the score indicated as the Browns battled and stayed in the game for more than three quarters.

With the Redskins up by just four in the third quarter, Joe Gibbs turned to Ervins, an untested third-round draft pick. Ervins’ first carry was good for 15 yards to start Washington’s touchdown drive. The rookie finished it off himself with a 12-yard burst, following a nice block behind Don Warren.

Another TD drive gave the Redskins some real breathing room at 35-17. The march ended with Riggs taking it into the end zone from a yard out, but Ervins was the key, gaining 73 yards on five carries during the drive. The rookie provided and exclamation point when, after the two-minute warning, he bounced outside and broke free for 65 yards and a touchdown.

WHY DID THEY KEEP THEIR STARTERS IN?!!!! No fair!!!

Ervins was a rookie backup. Byner was the starter. He broke a running play.

thanks for the research, but I don't think there's anything here at all. Sounds like it was a good game though

Yeah, I think it would be meaningful if they had thrown on the Browns, but running the ball doesn't say much.

You can't be serious. THe Skins were running the clock but the Patriots couldn't tackle him, do you want him to fall down short of the end zone? If you don't see the difference between that and the Pats going for it on 4th down, I don't know what to tell you.

EDIT: Never mind, I see you're being facetious.
