Too soon.
Exactly. What's the rush?

He made some good throws, but he is not an accurate passer at the nfl level.
Sorry that’s just not his game. Doesn’t mean he sucks, all players have weaknesses.
I'd offer him the contract Brady refused modified to be full of reasonable incentives and whatnot to protect a bit against injury.
So around 23-26M.

Pump the breaks
The guy lit up a patchwork secondary playing prevent defense.
History always confirms: Old running QBs soon become old IR’d QBs.
Bill, the pragmatic, does not risk his team’s financial future on players like Cam.
Maybe a two year middle of the pack salary with minimal guarantees that won’t handcuff the team when the inevitable injury reoccurs
what's the deal with the franchise tag? is there anything in the contract that prevents the pats from using it?

I doubt it. Problem is, if you use it, all 31-33M goes on next year. A new contract means lower cap hits in 21 and 22, at least.
Jets, Browns, Jaguars, Panthers (again), Saints as Brees won’t have much longer, Ben was already toying with leaving the Steelers and Cam is a very similar style, Washington, the Bears are probably going to give up on Trubbs soon etc.
Cam will find someone who wants to pay.
I know this is going to shock some people, but the QB market is stupid. Brady was a huge advantage on that front. We were lucky with Cam. To give you perspective, there really has been no instance of a Cam like pick up where a firmer MVP was just sitting on the market dirt cheap in the last 10 years.
Guys like Goff and Jimmy G and Cousins reset them market.
Sure. Just like he made most of his throws from outside the pocket in Carolina. Your words. Or am I making that up too?
And his comp % is 71 compared to Brady’s 61 with the same players/coaches. But I’m sure there are reasons.

that means nothing for now. For comparison, Brady completion percentage was 69% over the first two games with a passer rating of 124.8!
Jets are locked to Darnold, Browns to Mayfield, Jaguars maybe but Minshew is cheap and they like him, and they may be looking at T Lawrence anyway, Panthers NO obviously, Saints maybe, Washington has #1 draft pick in Hankins, and Bears just took on Foles's massive contract.

Exactly. While Cam has no improved weapons over Brady (well, Harry didn't play the first 10 games), the team had a different OL.
On the other hand, Brady had the luxury of getting the ball back quicker after stellar defensive play.
This is an impossible comparison when you realize that Cam is benefiting from a much better OL, but Cam's stats are also hurt because he's not seeing the ball as much as Brady due to a less than stellar defensive effort.
Both guys are benefiting/hurting because of different strengths of the team over 2 years.
2019: + defense, - o-line
2020: - defense, + o-line
It's really remarkable how effortless it is for you to be wrong, all the time.
That was the best game quarterbacked by a NE QB in a couple years. Newton put on a masterclass, and his extremely precise/accurate passing was a large part of that spectacular performance.

You do realize the offense only scored 23 points right?
Well except for that guy Edelman who had 8 catches for 179 yards. As opposed to the walking corpse of Edleman Brady was throwing to for half the year in 2019.
