Remember when Bill didn't bother to call time outs with plenty of time left to score points and letting the clock go and conceding the half because even he knew how much the offense reeked? Probably saved a turnover there. Good times....
No, he didn't "save" jack feckin sh!t there...

Either way... not something a coach would do that was confident in his offense. The way they played... he had every right not to be.

I don't think any D will simply be able to double Jules automatically or consistently because teams will be forced to play more zone because of Cam's threat to run... theoretically.
Teams aren't going to play zone vs the Worst WRs in NFL History until Cam proves he can run all game long if he has to...and even then...

I have a hard time believing if Cam drops back 30-50 times in a game that he'll see man coverage 30-50 times. I just don't think teams will be that stupid just because the receivers aren't that good. There are too many other variables, including the fact that extended plays can lead to huge gains for the offense. We see it all the time with a guy like Rodgers, for example, even with sub par talent.

On defense, this year’s Dolphins team could start up to four players with Patriots ties – Van Noy, Roberts, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Eric Rowe. Backup cornerback Jamal Perry and linebacker Calvin Munson were also previously on the Patriots practice squad.

defensively? There’s a lot of unknowns.”
Who the feck is Jamal Perry and when was he ever with the Pats?

Then I looked at his Wikipedia page...

Would have rather seen Rowe do that in SBLII than to Brady

I bought into the "Boogeymen" hype even though they didn't play anyone good until the Ravens - and promptly got exposed. Hopefully next time they zip it with the nicknames until they earn them on the field.
In Van Noy’s defense, they also had been a lockdown unit the last 5 games of 2018 as well, with the exception of the 2nd half against the Chiefs. But even half of that was due to the atrocious officiating - I actually rewatched that CBS broadcast in its entirety yesterday and found myself getting so angry as that game went on. It’s amazing they actually called the replay reviews correctly..... anyhow, the point is that they kind of had done it on the field for nearly a full season, including being SB champs specifically because of the defense.

Still, I would have preferred him to keep his mouth shut until the playoffs, like Bruschi, McGinest, and Harrison had done. And yeah, were they ever exposed against the run by Baltimore. The new guys this year might have been able to something about it, but then HT and Chung opted out and one potential solution in Allen got IR’d. Hopefully the new guys both are capable of doing it and are capable of learning quick....

Rodgers isn't recovering from a Lisfranc injury however...Teams will dare Cam to run then clean his clock when he does...We'll see how long any of that (zone defense/Cam running) lasts...

Yeah that TD the Queefs scored because of a beyond-blatant OPI that wasn't called was particularly, in the words of Reece Bobby, egregious...

We're not just talking about leaving the pocket. We're talking about extending plays within the pocket. Is that no longer something Cam can do all of a sudden? I guess let's just agree to disagree. I won't believe that teams are just going to play man against the Patriots on every dropback because the receivers suck with a QB like Cam. Strategy is never that simplistic in football.

Yeah, I had to do google his name as well.

Even though he was in Foxborough for all of 2018 - offseason, training camp and practice squad - I am going to say BS to anybody other than his mother who claims to remember him being with the Patriots. Good for him for receiving a ring though.

I'm struck by how much negativity there is here concerning Pat's WR's.

Based on 25 plus stories I read in pre-season I feel Gunner will be a quality #2 receiver with 60+ receptions.

Harry and Cam will improvise their way to 50 catches and 10 TDs.

White and Rex will combine for a 100 receptions.

The double d rookies will have another 50 catches.

Pats will blow out the Dolphins by 21 on Sunday.

OK, you got me. I will never again refer to myself as a homer. I can't compete with this.

Love the optimism. Would be nice to get a comfortable win.

I say Pats by 7 but I predict they will have a 200+ yard rush game and it won't be last time they do that this season.

If there was ever a season for an "out of left field" occurrence...no off-season or camps, no real practice, no pre-season...this is it. Miami or Cinci or Detroit in the Super Bowl? Why not (I almost said Jets, but not even a pandemic changes their futility)? A couple early wins...no good week to week film prep sessions in a classroom environment to prepare...a lot of confidence starts to build in a supposed non-contender...a key COVID IR...there's just no predicting this thing.

The media is treating their predictions like any regular year instead of throwing it all out the window. I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats went 13-3 or 3-13...same with every other team in the league - there just isn't a historical context or precedent to draw educated conclusions from.

Yeah, I have a feeling this season will be far more unique than even the 9-game strike season in '82, or the '87 season when three replacement games impacted final standings, who made the playoffs, and playoff seeding.

.

Hey Gents.

Best of luck this Sunday. It's an interesting time of transition; the Belichick/Brady thing couldn't last forever...even though it ******* FELT like it...and the Fins have apparently FINALLY decided they're hell-bent on building their lines and finding their QB for the future, no matter what.

Anyway. I'm of the opinion that whomever stops the run game early wins this thing. I don't think either team is set up to come back from a huge deficit. And yes, I'm hoping for good things from Howard/Breida.

With the freaking pandemic, no preseason and a limited TC, I don't think anyone really knows what the heck to expect. But I'll say this...if Belichick somehow gets this team deep into the playoffs, he should be coach of the year.

Here's looking forward to a good game. I am of the opinion that it's going to be close, and the Pats don't cover. We'll see about the winner.
