PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP Training Camp Day 7

I don't think "ignoring" was meant literally. More like, teams will focus on taking out the best players and forcing a guy like Sanu to have to make plays.
In the context it appeared he meant literally ignored.
Yes he would be covered by the 3rd corner often which is easier then being covered by the best corner, but that’s who he is.
The idea that he caught passes because a defense, in man coverage would assign no one or a lb to him is ludicrous.

Stidham is an interception machine. Wow 7 INTs in only 47 throws.

.
And that’s without the possibility of getting hit. Wait until the games matter and the defense is actually allowed to hit him. This kid was ruined in his last season at Auburn. His eyes drop to the LoS at the first sign of trouble. It was laughable that people actually suggested pulling Brady and starting him last year. Then again, last year was far from the first time that’s happened.

When you think you are save from Fauria's moronic thoughts because there are no preseason games but then he gets to interview BB:

Big Brain Fauria.

I think Reiss gives us a nice implication whats going on. It sounds like a family COVID situation and that he will be back soon.

Yeah, it's the same nonsense every year, and every day. And it's usually the same ridiculous homers refusing to learn from history.
How would positive fans of the belichick patriots have learned from history to be negative?

Who is your wr3 and wr4 if you cut this guy, who has been a good wr3/4 for some quite a while.

Why is Sanu an "obvious" cut at 6.5M? He gives the Pats a 2nd legitimate WR behind Edelman. He's got a different skill set than Harry or Gunner or Meyers. And the Pats don't need the Cap space for this season because of the opt outs.

Yes my post was confusing. I was referring to Sanu having no trade value at 6.5. He has more value here, just because he's been in camp, but I don't know how much anyone would give up today in a trade for Sanu. I would think at this point of the season IF the Pats decided to go in a different direction, they would be forced to cut him.

If Sanu won't renegotiate could this be one of those week one cuts to not guarantee salary for the season?

Why would they cut him when they need him? Who is going to play his role?

They would cut him to not guarantee his salary all year.

They would have a backup plan I'm sure if that didn't work.

Why would they rather have a worse player on the field then pay him?
This makes no sense. There is literally one Other proven reliable receiver on the teams.

Now just work on setting the edge & stopping the run..I heard he’s up to around 280 now. Hopefully, adding some muscle & improving his technique augments his game.

He’s basically become what I had hoped Rivers could be. At least to this point.

It's not like they haven't done this before.

Last year they cut Ben Watson without a better TE solution, as well as Brian Hoyer with a rookie as backup. Two years ago Brandon Bolden was cut. How much were they saving with him?

Huh?
Watson was 41 years old and suspended.
Bolden never had a prominent role in the offense. Hoyer was beaten out to be a backup.
When have they ever cut one of their only 2 experienced players at a position that requires 4 deep getting regular snaps?

What are people's non-homer, objective analysis on the notes on Cam so far? It's weird hearing stuff like "he had edleman open over the middle but instead went for byrd deep in dbl coverage and got intercepted" - that's just **** we'd never hear with Brady. But Cam isn't Brady (no one is), so I'm having a hard time telling what really is "good" for Newton. The completion % doesn't seem great, but then notes say he's stealing camp. Any input?

My unbiased opinion is this: Hes at where I expected him to be 1 week into camp. Hes not lights out but hes improving everyday and getting adjusted to the new team/surroundings. I think there will be many o plays where we will all say "damn Brady wouldn't have thrown it there...." And pout.. But on the flip..especially when the pocket breaks and hes able to extend plays...run for yards or pull coverage to him to unlock a receiver downfield ..we will stand up and say "Damn Brady could never do that!"

Hes on track to start. There are some growing pains but all im looking for right now is confidence, growth, consistency which hes showing in abundance.

Goal line is the hardest place to complete a pass. Which is why the patriots sucked last year and bill is known for a bend dont break defense.

If Cam’s foot is as healthy as he appears, you’ll be in for a treat watching the Pats inside the ten yard line this season. When healthy he’s arguably the best goal line back in the league.

Nobody thought Sanu was a speed guy in the first place, so what's your point here? Are you trying to argue that Harry's ok because he's a sneeze faster than a guy who seems to have lost some of his already not impressive game speed and has people wondering if he'll make the tea

Seriously, stop digging.
I was having a conversation with another poster about Sanu that you obviously weren't aware of and decided to stick your nose in.

A few days ago Lazar was gushing over Sanu saying he was an example to the entire young receiving corps, now he's in danger of getting cut... this isn't ironic to you.

I guess you're one of the posters who have suggested N'Keal is already a bust (or slow) so you're sensitive about reports of a positive day at camp. N'Keal is as athletically talented and fast as some of the best large WR's in the NFL, if he doesn't make it health will be about the only reason why.
