The Patriot LB corp was so self impressed by its dominance verses AAA competition in the early part of the 2019 season the group tagged themselves The Boogiemen, only to crap their boogie-panties when real NFL offenses or Ryan Fitzpatrick took the field later in the season.

Nicknamed The Perfection Line by national broadcasters for their regular season scoring prowess, the Boston Bruins’ #1 forward line redefines playoff perfection with “no-shows“ and passive resistance vs playoff caliber opponents.

Conclusion:
Giving yourself a nickname is perhaps the douchiest move ever, but, The Boogiemen nickname is far more palatable than The Perfection Line ......dandies who get shoved off the puck with no resistance.

Now..... back to crowdless golf

Don't have anything to add here...Completely agree, on both counts.

I'll wait until the games matter to shovel schitt on the Bruins top line...

“The Boogymen” was cringy and nobody took seriously. QB’s/OL weren't scared of them individually as that pass rush was all scheme and not by pure talent.

Their D was better than some people give them credit for. All D’s crack when the team has a Pop Warner offense.

Yep, the D was done in by higher level competition and inept offense, keeping them on the field for far too many snaps. We won't ever know how good that D could have been against better competition.

Nicknames for team units are usually cringey when they highlight "awesomeness".

Does the rest of the league play the same teams the Pats did in the early part of the season? No defense had ever put up the kind of stats that the Pats D did leading up to the Ravens' beatdown.

All I know is that if Tuuka gives up one more goal in the last minute of a period/game, the remote is going through the TV!!!

"Last Minute Tuuka" lets add that to the Boogeymen and the Perfection Line

it was a perfect storm of absolutely horrible offenses they faced

boogeyman was terrible because it’s an awful nickname, and they didn’t back it up against good competition

I'm generally not in favor of talking about yourself, but I also really don't think it matters much.

The '85 Bears strutted around with their dumb Super Bowl Shuffle for weeks, but they were good enough to back it up, so it wasn't going to matter at all.

I just rewatched that Ravens game. While the Ravens won fair and square and were clearly the better football team, the Pats defense only gave up 20 points to one of the top 2 offenses in the league with zero help from their offense.

My stomach turned when I heard Boogeymen. I knew we were dead in the water when Van Noy gave his little "Isn't 8-1 good?" quip.

Pasternak tears his ribcage celebrating Bergeron's OT goal...only the Ruins...
