1 year of pain for possibly 10+ years of glory? Weigh in. Would you Tank for the best QB prospect in next year's NFL Draft?

Lawrence is not a guarantee of anything.

Only if Stidum stinks.

And if Hoyer plays, they will have a good chance of securing the #1 pick.

I vote “C”:

See what your record is and how Stidham looks after 7-8 weeks, then decide. But that’s just me

No. Try to win. Yes, it’s likely NE will have challenges this season. But, losing on purpose is never the way. It just isn’t.

Miami LOOKED like it was tanking. Then, after moving on from so many players that weren’t buying in - they won a few. And, they still ended up w Tua (whether that works out...).

Win the games you can. Play your best players. See who can help in the future and who can’t. Don’t tank.

Was the RLKAG emoji taken down because of what is going on in the country?

This team is not going to deliberately try to lose. Whether you agree with the idea of tanking or not, and I don't, it's never, ever going to happen because Bill Belichick will never concede games if he can help it.

No matter the outcome...Stidham has to start the entire 2020 season. Then decide.

My opinion is give Stidham 6 games. A little over a 3rd of the season. If in 6 games he is 1-5 or 2-4..... odds are that takes the team out of the playoffs. If that is the case, you pull him and you put Hoyer in to get you Lawrence.

Stidham is an experiment. There is no need to commit beyond a small little try out to prove it or not.

I don’t agree. For example Joe Montana was 0-1 in his 1st season, 2-5 in his 2nd season. Bill won’t yank him if he is 2-5...not if he is a believer...”experiment” or not.

Forehead Manning was 3-13 his 1st season, Elway was 4-6, Rodgers 6-10.

Edit: if he does pull him...it’s to give him a break and a fresh start in 2021 IMO.

Are you sh*tting me? As if the first "Tank for Trevor?" thread last month wasn't bad enough. Maybe double down and also post a "Who still can't believe Tommy is gone?" thread.

I would not tank for anyone. Three years ago Stidham was thought to be certain to be a first round pick. Then things went sideways in his last year and he didn't look so good. He became a fourth rounder that who knows what his ceiling is.

Do you really want to gamble on Lawrence there may not even be a full college season so who knows if others have caught up to him and he doesn't look as promising. Are you willing to gamble the future of the franchise on what you saw last year, but don't have the full amount of info I guess you could say.

All I'm trying to say is I think you play to the best of your team's abilities if they fail you take the best quarterback prospect you can get at that position don't tank for one there are no guarantees.

I agree.

If Belichick thinks that Stidham is the next Manning or the next Elway or the next Montana or the next Brady, then he will have a very weak cheap vet backup, and won't pull Stidham if he is healthy for the two years. And, of course, there is no need for competition and even a backup for 2021, since without Stidham nothing matters. We might as well start a 2021 7th rounder or UDFA.

OK, is there ANYONE here who believes that this is very likely that Stidham is one of the top 10 QB's who have played the game?

I get that some are willing to throw away a season (with no competition or reasonable backup). I wouldn't, of course. But this is getting silly.

Matt Cassel would beg to differ. . . .

Matt Cassel would beg to differ. . . .
Cassel inherited a team that was very close to a top NFL team of all time that will be discussed amongst the greatest teams ever and he failed to make the playoffs despite and easier schedule

I dont know why everyone is down on Stidham. He had a better freshman preseason than Garappolo. With what is considered less talent at WR.

I'm all in on Stidham, I think he's going to be I our QB. Watching him play in college, he can make the throws. His senior year his guys dropped a ton of passes. I think he's going to be a top 10 QB in the league in the next 3 to 4 years

I dont know why everyone is down on Stidham. .

Am I down on Stidham. I expect him to be a better than average 4th round QB, in his second year, with no NFL reps. Perhaps, because the patriot offense is so talented, he might be as good as the average 3rd rounder.
