Never assume.

If you remember seeing develin line up wide with one half of the field to himself, and you watch vitales highlights, the way he fits in should be pretty straightforward. Either blocking against nickel defenses, or running routes against a run stopping lb. I'm guessing (not assuming) that will be his job.

Why is this thread always at the top of the message board? We are 8 pages in about a FB that hasn't done much in the NFL.

What's more bizarre is how this board handled the Develin injury......crickets.

Now the FB is a hot topic?

Amazing!

I think many of us here understood the consequences of Develin's injury...As soon as he started slowly jogging off the field I knew what the worst-case scenario could be, and it ended up becoming exactly that...

I only recall you as one of the very few that understood the consequences of that injury.

It matters to me because Devlin was hugely underrated for his importance in the run game and how Michel was dramatically worse without Devlin. And because Vitale isn't an elite run blocking FB but rathera wannabe pass catching Hback who can't run block well. So I think it warrants discussing where Vitale even fits (I think he doesn't) and how we are going to truly replace Devlin because it isn't Vitale

Same could be asked as to why you’re a bag of p*ss and vinegar on every thread you touch. Do you even enjoy this team?

Maybe it’s a post-Brady/weak minded fan ordeal, but pretty shameful representation of Pats fans on the boards these days the moment an ounce of adversity strikes. Pathetic and catty to say the least when seeing posters like this guy who expect everything to be sunshine and rainbows, and sh*t on anything they can that ties to this team or it’s fans.

No it isn't, but Danny V's still > Yake Yawnson.

Develin was a massive loss I called along with a very few others when it happened. You hit the nail on the head calling his loss underrated as this board surprisingly slept on it.

I’m just giving the board a hard time as some threads seem to go on too long for random players. It’s getting into Mike Pennel territory.

A lot of blocking is desire to do so. I think Vitale could be a good blocking FB, if given that job. One interesting thought is, if you have Vitale, Asiasi & Keene all out there at the same time, the play calling possibilities is scary for defenses. All 3 blocking on a run play, all 3 running pass patterns, or a combination of both. Imagine having all 3 + White out there, how do you cover all 4 ? Vitale was an excellent small TE in college, he was a weapon. It'll be interesting to see if McDaniels uses him like he was used in college. Small TE who ran a 4.60 and has good hands. I'm really excited about the additions of Vitale, Asiasi & Keene.

I think it's redundant to why they have Keene and unnecessary. Keene is supposed to be this HBack hybrid moving TE chess piece. Asiasi is supposed to be an elite blocker plus catcher. The weakness is Michel without a run blocking FB

HUGE loss. the two times he missed most or all of the season due to injury, we were not the same team. Win the SB in 2014, 2015 he blows out his knee and misses all season, lose the AFCCG, he comes back to win the SB 2016. 2017, he made the Pro Bowl and we got to the SB (lost). 2018 We win it all again, 2019, he plays 2 games, misses the rest of the season, and of course, we weren't the same team.

Develin was a huge loss, but he’s gone now, so...let’s stop romanticizing and look forward to what Vitale, Keene, Asiasi & Johnson can do.

We should've kept Pennel as Shelton's 2019 backup/2020 replacement.

I'm looking forward to Yakob Yohnson being replaced by a better player...

Could you show everyone the Scouting report that says that Asiasi is an elite blocker?
Could you should everyone the Scouting report that says that Keene is the hybrid H-back moving TE?

Article link posted on the Asiasi thread last page I believe is where I put it

And highlight video clips of Keene mostly show him lined up in Hback and moving TE spots. Posted it either on this page too or on the Vitale page
.

An eight page thread wasted

I don’t think he was even a lock for the roster. Especially since they drafted Dalton Keene in that H-back role.
