I would think one of them makes a decent impact. I'm not saying either one is going to be a top 5 fantasy TE or anything crazy, however, they should yield more production that LaCosse and Izzo.

Neither one is going to light up the NFL, if things workout they'll improve blocking and make perpetual improvement. They'll be really good in year two on... if at all. Rookie TE's have one of the hardest jumps from college to the pros.

Draft picks are a dice roll even if all the elements to succeed are in place, a crapshoot. Two draft picks give them a better shot that at least one will workout.

I found some college info saying he had a knee cleanup after his sophmore year at VT but
managed to play in all 13 games each year.

Also found a website called the sportsinjurypredictor that claims Dalton has a 0% chance of injury in 2020.

Perhaps. Hopefully coaching can help him alter his propensity to leaving himself exposed.

For all you folks agonizing about the Pats ability or lack thereof to draft players, here's some basic math:
Average NFL career: 3.3 years
NFL roster plus practice squad: 67
Draft rounds: 7

If a team hit on 100% of their draft picks (which never happens) that would account for 23.1 players or 34.5 % of your roster.

In other words, 65.5 % of your roster has to come from somewhere else.
BB refers as draft picks as freebies. To me that means you CANNOT build your roster through the draft and he sees draft picks as extras.

The other question is why BB avoids "name" prospects, which can be baffling and maddening, especially for you Draftnicks.

My only thought is "name" players tend to be over-hyped and over-drafted.
Similar to "name" free agents that get overpaid.

I don't follow college football at all and don't follow the pre-draft anymore. BB's drafts are usually a disappointment.

The constant pissing and moaning that BB doesn't know how to draft EVERY YEAR gets very tiresome.

BB drafts prospects (and free agents) that can be coached up into NFL players. If a team needs to get production from rookies, you're already screwed because most likely they will get injured or hit the rookie wall.

Antonio Gibson from Memphis was/is a true Weapon because he could line up as both a Runner and as a Receiver, in the backfield, slot or wide, similar (but not completely identical) to how the Late Prisoner was used here...Keene has a TE's body and should therefore be expected to fulfill most of the duties (perhaps not short-yardage in-line blocker just yet) of a TE.

This is exactly how Bedard sees him being used and has film from college to back him up.

More as a fullback and H-back, but also TE. Possibly even in slot. Bedard thinks they'll move him around as matchups dictate and probably be successful doing it.
