well when you select Sony and Harry in back to back first rounds over consensus better talents who have already become All Pros....it’s frustrating

We don’t win SB 53 without Sony, period. He had a GREAT 2018. His playoff performance was outstanding. Two 100 yard games and 90 in the SB, 6 TDs in the playoffs, a rookie record. He missed 3 games in the regular season, so played 16 games total his rookie year, and these were his stats in those 16 games.

1267 yds 280 carries 12 tds 4.5 yds per carry

If you’re complaining about 2019, I get it. But we don’t win SB 53 without him.

As far as Harry, we are talking about injuries more than anything. As well as a QB who was legendarily stubborn as far as who he would throw to. If he can stay healthy, he will be WR2 behind Edelman. And will have a QB who doesn’t play favorites.

All the draft guides I had, had him rated no lower than #3 as far as WRs for the draft, and one had him as #1. Most had him #2 behind only Metcalf or Brown (depending on the guide). So it’s not like we drafted him in the 1st round and he was rated as a 7th round receiver. He was very highly rated. I had no problem with the selection, I think he’s gonna be a stud. He’s extremely talented.

Dude, what is there to say that should pull anyone to this thread? Other than fodder for cracking jokes, this thread has no value. Whatever Harry is doing, or is looking like, now is meaningless. Harry will show on the field. After last year, that's all that matters.

He's been working diligently on improving his footwork. Turns out he not only has terrible technique beating the press, he also is "low and slow" in his cuts showing terrible footwork.

It is actually good news that he has terrible technique, as that can and is being worked on and could dramatically improve his separation coming out of his cuts.

Wow, in those two clips from last year he looks awful getting off the line. I mean 55 year old white due bad. I like that he is training up for getting better releases off the line. He generally looks good in the training clips, but in that last clip he couldn't get away from the guy training him!

His terrible technique getting off the line was well known; what's more interesting from the training videos is that his stem breaks are also bad, i.e. he gets "low and slow" with terrible footwork.

The good news about all this is that technique can be taught but athleticism cannot.

Harry has terrible technique but is a very good football athlete for his size. You can see that in his running after the catch where he's instinctive and elusive for a big guy. It's almost like he came into the league uncoached. If he can learn the choreography of route running and start to get some separation off his stem breaks he could improve dramatically.

Having a full time WR coach this year might make a huge difference with him.

with newly signed lee, I am hopefully that his problem in Jacksonville was 3 and not 1 or 2.

I'm personally optimistic about Stidham, but we also don't know if the team has a QB that can (consistently) get WR's catch opportunities either. So hopefully that was Lee's problem in Jax AND it will be better here. Again, I've got a good feeling about the kid, but there's a lot to prove yet.

Hope so, but the analysis from the Walter Football site looks true as of now in terms of athleticism:

Team sources say that Harry is not real twitchy or explosive. They worry about how he is not fast in and out of breaks and don't see suddenness. Some sources said that Harry reminded them of Ole Miss wideout Laquon Treadwell, who is currently headed toward bust status for the Vikings. Some other sources say they are grading Harry on the second day of the 2019 NFL Draft and feel he is akin to Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Devin Funchess. One team source said they originally planned on grading Harry in Round 2, but were lowering him to the third round.

I know he ran a decent 40 at the combine, but his 10 and 20 yard splits were pretty poor.

Maybe the footwork work will pay off, hope so.

If that’s true, it proves there’s something seriously wrong with them evaluating WR’s. You don’t just suddenly find out he’s slow and bad out of breaks.

He’s already a bust. This was already established two years ago.

Unfortunately for you, there is no way you can prove your comment is factual. Different QB, different receivers, different O-Line, different situations. Impossible to factually prove. You could assume it, but you can’t prove it.

On the other hand, I gave you facts. In 16 games, as a ROOKIE, Michel’s stat line was:

That’s a GREAT rookie season, that’s a provable fact based on stats. How many Patriot’s rookie running backs had better rookie seasons ? How many Patriot’s rookie running backs had a better playoffs (hint, 0).
