Kyed: Team likes Stidham more than Garoppolo

You don’t think about replacing a top 5 qb entering his prime when a 43 year old Tom Brady enters free agency.

Lynch admitted they thought about making the change.

Bingo. And the next playoff game JG costs San Francisco will be the last playoff game JG costs San Francisco. Another SB type meltdown and they move on imo.

The source has knowledge of what the NEP think of Stid and does not benefit from pumping up Stid's or the NEPs propaganda.

Could be Scott Pioli. Could be Lombardi.

Could be a lot of people. An ex-Pat FO guy or coach on another team is a possibility.

Disagree there are a select few people that would know what the Patriots are thinking and not want to the Patriots to gain.

Wow if true!

Eh anonymous “league sources” from an anonymous twitter handle. I dunno about that one.

But it’s great to hear the confidence. Explains why the team is not eager to sign the likes of Dalton or Newton.

A self-described "Boston fan" with "league sources." Interesting.

Whatever. No matter how it's framed it's pretty clear the Patriots are comfortable enough moving forward with Stidham as their QB.

Practice isn’t the game. We’ll see.

I think it’s more realistic to say the patriots were ok with whatever happened because they liked what they saw in practice while brady was sitting out due to age and injury.
If Brady were 36 they never would have let him leave. At 43 it was a matter of how hard do you try to keep him to run out the string.

My entire opinion on this is based upon complete trust in bb and his ability to evaluate QBs.
If he brings in no one else then he is telling us how he evaluated Stidham and I therefore have confidence in Stidham.
If he brings in a scrub like dalton or newton I get concerned because he is telling us his Stidham evaluation isn’t so positive.
There probably isn’t a human being on Earth who has more information at his disposal to evaluate Stidham, not one who has a better ability to correctly assess that information.

Well,yuh Andy, that's kind of a no - brainer.

Dont u guys have an expression about reading the bread crumbs?

If "the team" wasn't at least a bit confident in Stidham, they would have been more agressive with Brady. They would have at least get some competition for him in free agency/draft (Or do you think they are counting on Hoyer to be any kind of starter besides an Emergency one?)...

Yeah, they could bring Cam and Dalton, but first we need to make a lot of strides in our cap management, or some crazy cheap deal i guess, regardless it needs to have a plan in place to bring any those cats on board.

If they like him a lot, a little, it's probably just demagogy. They clearly trust him, we'll see if it warrented or not whenever we get to watch Football again

Brady wanted out. His exit began with the 2019 contract. Belichick was never going to give any 43-year-old QB $50M guaranteed over two years. I don't blame him.

Stidham is very inexpensive and the QB position is now the least costly against the cap providing the Patriots with flexibility in other position groups and two years to build depth throughout the lineup - which they have done successfully. Every position group got younger, and every position group - with the glaring exception of quarterback - has quality depth.

Tight end has an interesting group of players. That will bear watching to see if BB brings in a veteran during camp. I expect that the Patriots will bring in a quality veteran WR and another veteran QB before or during training camp. Personlly, I'd love to see Cam Newton come in for an audition. There will be WRs cut throughout the NFL due to the additions of so many top-rated rookies.

June 1 and June 15 are key dates to watch when teams have to tender RFA's and decide whether to keep exclusive rights. Once teams get a look at their rookies - both drafted and UDFAs - there will be movement.

We are not close to knowing who the starting 22 will be.

I’d love to see some of the UDFA WRs make the roster we would have so much more speed on offense.
JJ Taylor could beat out Bolden and or Burkhead for a spot on the 53 as well.

OT:
I was surprised SF was reluctant to take the training wheels off Jimmy G.
When they did, he fell short.

I was really bummed they couldn't hang onto him, but obviously they made the right choice.
I really think it was just a timing thing.
Jimmy may not be as good/clutch as I thought he was.

Alternate take: he couldn't overcome the suck of Big Game Shanahan.

Obligatory reminder: Bolden is on the roster primarily, though not exclusively, for his ST contributions.

If we are comparing, I like Stid's size and arm much better than Jimmy. But at this point, Jimmy is a proven starter and winner so we will see where Stid ends up.
Jimmy’s 4th quarter in the Super Bowl belongs in the Hall of Shame.

Stidham is awesome

Garoppolo and Brady suck ass

"Hindsight" is fun ... isn't that kinda the same as looking at a girls backside as shes walking away..? Yup

Play on words photo op.... hehe
