Kyed: Team likes Stidham more than Garoppolo

Of course JG came out of a program where he basically made it up as he went, where as Stid came out of a top program.

It was obvious based on their action with Brady and their non action with QBs at the draft and free agents that they like JS4 a lot. Hopefully they are spot on in their analysis.

Stronger argument than paraphrasing anonymous source.

All of those QBs were either out of our budget or suck (or both).

I do see Stidham as a similar prospect to Garoppolo though.

If we are comparing, I like Stid's size and arm much better than Jimmy. But at this point, Jimmy is a proven starter and winner so we will see where Stid ends up.

I'm hoping Goat 2.0
For the Thousandth time I liked Lock number 1 and Stidham 2 these are the QBs I have liked the most in the last few years even.
I feel like Lock has a better supporting cast but I hope Stidham and Locm have at least similar success.
Now of course I hope Stidham blows him out the water.
But it will hurt a bit if Lock is a pro bowler and Stidham is a Jag

And they would have got from someone who does stand something to gain. And of course they'd gain something by pumping up their buddies decisions.

Someone mentioned it being Brady as a joke. Something like that would make his statement hold water. But otherwise for the source to be of value they would have to be in a position where they gain.
Not necessarily. I can come out and say a lot of people like a certain restaurant or politician but I couldn't give two ****s about it.

Why do you assume the source is a buddy?

No, Stidham didn't come out of a "top" program. He came from a program that grossly misused him. Malzahn’s offense didn't take advantage of Stidham's strengths. It was a bad fit for both.

What stood out to me the most as a negative for Stidham during the preseason, and maybe it's just me, but his throws look very slow. Not his release, but the speed of the ball. Seems like it took forever for some of his throws to get to the WR

Pats PR campaign hard at work... expect a Schefter - Stidham wet kiss tweet soon as Krafty Bob pumps Stidhams rep

Like Kyed said that may "like" him more but it doesn't mean they are right in liking him more. We will soon find out.

no worries.......they'll be able to pick up Kaepernick mid-season should the need arise

Stidham's physical stature seems to be a little more robust ..... he's also better looking from some angles

Just keep your eyes open and he should be ok.

Dont u guys have an expression about reading the bread crumbs?

If "the team" wasn't at least a bit confident in Stidham, they would have been more agressive with Brady. They would have at least get some competition for him in free agency/draft (Or do you think they are counting on Hoyer to be any kind of starter besides an Emergency one?)...

Yeah, they could bring Cam and Dalton, but first we need to make a lot of strides in our cap management, or some crazy cheap deal i guess, regardless it needs to have a plan in place to bring any those cats on board.

If they like him a lot, a little, it's probably just demagogy. They clearly trust him, we'll see if it warrented or not whenever we get to watch Football again
Stidham aside, it was probably going to end with Brady leaving anyways.

Brady knew he was leaving a year ago. That’s before Stidham got here. The time to lock up Brady was last year or the year before when he wanted a commitment in his contract and couldn’t get it. This year he was already snubbed twice and was allowed to go in free agency. He also now knew the Patriots has serious offensive issues and a cap problem and figured “why waste my last couple years without a commit for a team needing to rebuild”. We were way behind the eightball on this before Stidham was a factor

I sincerely hope that Stidham is better than JG, Tom Brady, and any other Pats' QB that played for the team.

The more SB Championships.

Go BB and the Pats

Did some digging me fellow Patriot diehards. Please, for his sake keep this here, but DK’s source on this info...

Good dude, likes to call himself “The Eyes and Ears of One Patriot Place”

I don't blame people for assuming this is spin. I mean, all big organizations spin, they have to (with good and bad intentions). But based on the information we have so far, aka, what the Patriots have done at the position, I see three possibilities:

1) They really like Stidham (whether they're right remains to be seen).

2) They really hate just about every other option that has been presented.

3) They're operating on some assumption (educated or otherwise) that this NFL season is going to be lost, or at best be completely unpredictable due to world events. As such, going with Stidham may be more about leaving themselves flexible at the position going into 2021 where things (hopefully) will be a little more normal.
