Patriots Mailbag: How High Are Pats On Jarrett Stidham At Quarterback?

Here’s another nugget: I was told after the draft that the Patriots like Stidham more than they liked Jimmy Garoppolo. And I know what you’re thinking: “typical Patriots spin.”

That ain’t it. This isn’t coming from someone who stands to gain anything by pumping up the Patriots.

Stidham is awesome

Garoppolo and Brady suck ass

The Patriots have now Not re-signed Tom Brady, passed on trading for Nick Foles, didn’t sign Teddy Bridgewater, Case Keenum, Phillip Rivers, Marcus Mariota or Jameis Winston and have shown no interest in Newton.

What further proof do you need that the Patriots really, really like Stidham?
Stronger argument than paraphrasing anonymous source.

And bill polian had a first round grade on Brady
This is quite funny. I loved it.

I encourage you, and everyone else, to please insult and laugh at Polian as much as possible. I’ll keep the ball rolling : VERY best part of AAF folding - egg on Polian’s ancient face.

Seems they like JS4 better than a future with Brady too. Of course JG proved himself. JS4 hasn’t yet.

Nice to hear this but we’ll see what happens.

Like Kyed said they may "like" him more but it doesn't mean they are right in liking him more. We will soon find out.

Would love to know who he means when he says "the team"

"Soon" seems a bit optimistic. I hope you're right but I'm planning for the opposite

My "soon" is by 12/31/2020. By that time I believe they will have fully determined what his ceiling is.

Dont u guys have an expression about reading the bread crumbs?

If "the team" wasn't at least a bit confident in Stidham, they would have been more agressive with Brady. They would have at least get some competition for him in free agency/draft (Or do you think they are counting on Hoyer to be any kind of starter besides an Emergency one?)...

Yeah, they could bring Cam and Dalton, but first we need to make a lot of strides in our cap management, or some crazy cheap deal i guess, regardless it needs to have a plan in place to bring any those cats on board.

If they like him a lot, a little, it's probably just demagogy. They clearly trust him, we'll see if it warrented or not whenever we get to watch Football again

Close your eyes....who do you see?

Who's opinion of Stid Vicious matters the most?
I guess like...if he means BB this isn't really news to anyone. I'm wondering if it's something more mind blowing.

"That ain’t it. This isn’t coming from someone who stands to gain anything by pumping up the Patriots."

Could it be TOM BRADY?!

I think JS is very JG like. In fact, when they asked him if he's similar to any NFL QB, he said JG. Me personally, I saw a lot of similarities to JG. I do feel, JS has a stronger arm, not by a huge amount, but it's noticeable, BUT, JG has that quick release, one of the best in the league, very Brady like. JS has a nice release too, but not as quick as JG.

Bottom line will be production on the field. JG immediately came into San Francisco and turned a losing team around. Winning his first 5 starts for a 1 win team (at that time). Then after losing a year to a knee injury, came back this year and took the team to the Super Bowl. So yeah, they may like JS more as far as potential, but JG has proven himself big time. Hopefully JS can have a similar career as far as impact and winning.

This had to be the dumbest quote I've ever read.

"This isn’t coming from someone who stands to gain anything by pumping up the Patriots."

If the source has nothing to gain by pumping up the Pats then his opinion doesn't matter or he got from someone who does have something to gain. Seems odd to discredit your own source.

Maybe. Not sure if TB12 and Kyed have that kind of relationship (ala Curran)

The source has knowledge of what the NEP think of Stid and does not benefit from pumping up Stid's or the NEPs propaganda.

Could be Scott Pioli. Could be Lombardi.

And they would have got from someone who does stand something to gain. And of course they'd gain something by pumping up their buddies decisions.

Someone mentioned it being Brady as a joke. Something like that would make his statement hold water. But otherwise for the source to be of value they would have to be in a position where they gain.
