Nostalgia Time: Great Patriots Role Players & One Hit Wonders

One game wonder: Who remembers Brooks Barnard? Belichick cut Ken Walter, the weak legged but coffin corner accurate punter for one game in horrible, windy weather. Barnard punts well in the slop. Belichick cuts him and resigned Walter that week.

Ultimate one-hit wonder has to be Jonahs Grey.
- Plays like one game
- Breaks an NFL record for rushing and four TDs in a game
- Gets a Sports Illustrated cover
- Never plays again.

Two that come to mind from the not so good old day:

~ Bob Windsor
~ Clayton Weishuhn

Robert Edwards

Crazy to think about the possibilities though. If Edwards doesn’t get hurt he would have another great year in 99, maybe Pats make the playoffs in 99, then Pete Carroll sticks around, Belichick never leaves the Jets and then...

what is a one hit wonder

what is a role player
Sam Jones was a role player, but an excellent one at that. He was a member of 10 championship teams and served as the wingman to Bill Russell in Boston’s early years. Jones was a career 17.7 PPG scorer and he went to five All-Star Games.

"I'm not...leaving...my wingman"

So I stand by the Troy Brown one

Lucky 13 Phil Dropset

Still basking off the glory of his TD catch in the 2018 AFCC vs KC. Fans here wanted him back because of that catch.

A few for me (in no particular order):

- Ted Washington
- Revis
- LaFell, though he was here multiple seasons but he never came close to 2014 production
- Adalius Thomas
Was Revis a role player
Was Revis a one hit wonder?
Ditto for Washington

Wow awesome example!! And shows how BB is super into details but also ruthless.

Brandon Browner. In the Superbowl Seattle's Matthews was torching Arrington. Browner switches on Matthews and he only has 1 catch the rest of the game. On the famous Malcolm Butler miracle play that won the championship, Browner is the first one who recognizes the pick play, tells Malcolm exactly where to stand, then Browner delivers a strong press for Butler to go get the ball. LOVE Brandon Browner forever for this.

Antowain Smith is the forgotten Patriots RB. Rewatch the first two 3 Games to Glorys to be reminded. Especially 2001. Hell, especially the SB. I thought he had a shot at SB MVP for a while that game.

Bobby Hamilton and Anthony Pleasant had big moments that year as well.
Loved Bobby Hamilton, very emotional player on a very underrated defense. Pleasant as well. Loved Teddy Washington.

Some old time heroes from the 1st two SB runs, Tony Collins and Terry Glenn.
