Alcides Catanho... One of the funnest Patriots names of all time...

Michael Hoomanawanui says hey.

You and your facts.

I thought about looking it up, but I'm TIRED ... and lazy
That Seahawks @ Patriots game...you remember what happened that night, right? You even posted a video in this thread.

Regards,
Chris

Antowain Smith is the forgotten Patriots RB. Rewatch the first two 3 Games to Glorys to be reminded. Especially 2001. Hell, especially the SB. I thought he had a shot at SB MVP for a while that game.

Bobby Hamilton and Anthony Pleasant had big moments that year as well.

He had an underrated first two postseason games in '07.

Regards,
Chris

Exactly. Then he got hurt and they tried to use him as an up-the-middle banger.

I loved Benjarvus Green-Ellis in that role, but it wasn't Maroney. At his best, he could put the fear of the lord into defenses because he was both unpredictable and ferocious.

I don't consider any of these to be one hit wonders. And I don't think of them as role players, but rather as being important parts of their teams. All of these three did their jobs, and were important to our success.

We surely have a different idea of "role player". For me, a nine-year starter doesn't qualify.

Fred Coleman... literal one-play wonder.

Ooo, Larry Whigham and Larry Izzo for ST.

I'm gonna sit back and watch this thread degenerate (oh wait it already happened) into people arguing about what is a role player or what is a one hit wonder.

.

One hit wonder....mo lewis

You are absolutely correct. I kind of ignored the original premise of the thread and got caught up on vital guys who seem to have been forgotten.

None of my three guys were role players or one hit wonders. So I basically entered a thread and answered a question nobody asked.

OT - Antowain Smith, Bobby Hamilton, Anthony Pleasant: 3 overlooked dynasty heroes.

Underrated: Larry Whigham - special teams ace, friend of section 12, and a quasi decent defensive back... was so good he got cut because BB didnt want his pressuring their #1 draft pick, tebucky jones

One hit wonder? Has to be Jonas Gray and his 200 yards vs the colts

and CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED by the Hall of Fame VOTERS Gino Cappelletti

How about Akeem Ayers?

Great pickup in 2014. Nice role player that year.

Also: Akiem Hicks should have never left. Best interior D-lineman we’ve seen here since prime Wilfork and it’s not even close.
