(MOD EDIT:) SPECULATION: Gronk to be traded to Tampa Bay?

@QuantumMechanic already behind "this move" based on anonymous message board post, but still skeptical of hydroxycloroquine based on on-the-record evidence of doctors

A hydroxychloroquine trial was just stopped because of the numerous cardiac issues it was creating in the participants.

So, the show is moving south.

What happened to all Gronks movie roles and acting career? Fox doesn't want him back wearing those Barney suits 2 sizes large.

What do his loyal fans think about this? Nomar left.Johnny Damon sold out and now Gronk bites the hand that fed him.

Comments:

1.) I appreciate the OP making this thread even if this is likely bull$hit...

2.) If we can trade Gronk for ANYTHING.....sign me up and get it done ASAP.

3.) Wouldn't it be awesome if Gronk went to TB...that is almost like giving us 2 football teams to root for unless both play in the Superbowl.

Isn't Gronk too busy being the WWE 24/7 champion? What if he goes out for a pass, and gets speared by John Cena or someone...how do the refs flag that?

Not for me. My wife just left me, I'm not selling the house she loves to her at a cut rate deal. If she wants to pay full price, great. If not I'll keep the house.

If we'd be getting a 5th round pick or later, Gronk can pay for us or no-one.

That's right. Just the unretirement paper work. Nothing about a trade from this person. They don't deal with that. That is why I started the thread to speculate what will happen. I am hoping for a trade with Tampa because I want the Pats to get something for Gronk and for him to get to play with Brady.
If that’s the case, then why wasn’t this thread more about Gronk coming out of retirement to play for the Pats? Why does he have to be traded? Ah, that’s right, because everyone in the media is talking about it, right?

For the record I'm sceptical of this report like everyone else, however I did speculate when Bill randomly turned up at Gronk's Super Bowl party in February that he was trying to tempt him out of retirement for another year. I let go of that theory once Brady left but I suppose you never know.

One of the reasons why people keep posting is that they are bored. You have to wonder when someone has a contradictory post and constantly defends it. Hmmmmm.

But, to use your analogy, suppose you couldn't afford the house. That changes the dynamic.

I take a 5 in a heartbeat. My feeling is that Gronk doesn't want to play for the Pats anymore given our "job like" environment and he would absolutely love playing for Arians. In addition, I don't think Gronk has more than 2 seasons of elite/near elite play....at this point Gronk is like Jason Witten in his prime....at best.

To me it boils down to this:

Getting a 5 in the 2020 draft for a TE that has 2 years left of possibly elite/near-elite play.

vs.

Nothing, but watching Gronk WWF highlights.

I'll cut off my nose to spite my face on this. I've take value or nothing vs. giving him away and seeing him and his QB winning a SB on us. Yeah, I'm bitter

I will wait to get excited, until we hear confirmation from Sharks of Vegas

Having checked out the Bucs forums, it seems Patriots fans are taking this idea much more seriously than Bucs fans.

I don't think Gronk is ever coming back to the NFL, but definitely not to the Brady-less Patriots. If we can get a 5 for what is essentially a retired player, that's a win. He's not going to make our 2020 any harder unless somehow both teams make the Super Bowl.

Doesn’t his contract toll since he retired? That is, his 2020 salary would be what he was owed as a 2019 salary? The Pats have no obligation since his cap hit is behind them, but I thought TB would be taking on his 2019 base pay payable in 2020 as the contract, until/unless they’re able to renegotiate it?

Gronk's contract does toll. His cap hit would be $9.25M
$9M salary
$250K offseason workout bonus
His 750K active roster bonuses would be classified as NLTBE. The Bucs would lose $46,875 in cap space after each game Rob Gronkowski is active.

Yeah, this is kind of hard to believe. Tampa already has a strong TE unit and even if Gronk wanted to unretire, the Pats hold all the cards. What if they get a better offer from Cinci or Detroit? Would Gronk go somewhere else? Doubtful.
I am not so sure the Patriots hold all the cards. If Gronk unretired, I believe it would a $9 million cap hit (assuming no restructure, which is a pretty safe assumption IMHO). That's $9 million they can't afford.

ya we’d have no choice but to trade him I don’t see why Tampa wouldn’t want Grink for 2 years over Brate at 3 million less a year than Gronk.
Also with Gronk and OJ there 2 TE with Godwin/Evans would be lethal

No. Because Gronk said that the only QB he would play with is Brady.

You’re not bitter. You’re nuts. He’s not playing for us. If he does want to play for the Bucs and we can get a 5th, I’m all in.

Bucs fans are a new beast.
I only have met one Real Bucs fan my whole life.
The other doesn’t count he moved here from PR and he wanted to get into football and Bucs were in the super bowl if you ask him now he lives in LA and is a rams fan

on a related note...I take my wife everywhere....she finds her way home...
