So let’s talk about the good remaining qualities of this team.

I really really hope he can figure out his route running issues.

You saw glimpses of what he could be whenever he got the ball last year. He looked like a man amongst boys with the ball in his hands.

Edelman, I wouldn't say so, but Gilmore, yeah
At least with Gilmore, we would get a ton in draft capital in return.

Edelman? We’d be lucky to get a 3rd.

I really don't doubt the physical tools at all, it's just a matter of route-running and being on the same page as the QB. To an extent maybe Harry, Stidham and Meyers all being drafted/signed as UDFA in the same year helps their chemistry since they're coming along together. I like Meyers as a prospect too... Could certainly see next year still having some bumps as they get Stidham going but maybe the year after, especially when they've got the money to make some moves, we'll see.

The most optimistic thought is that Harry fixes his route-running to a large degree, Meyers gets more confident and also fixes his routes a bit, Sanu shows that the issues last year were simply health-related and becomes a solid contributor, and Edelman continues being Edelman as the "captain" of the group (maybe a team captain even), and they all develop good chemistry with Jarrett who shows he's roughly Jimmy Garoppolo-caliber even if he might need a little more time. It's pretty rosy, I admit, but it's not outside the realm of possibility for Edelman-Harry-Sanu-Meyers (and Gunner or Byrd as the fifth/PR) to be a pretty good group of WRs. Not going to light the world on fire but paired with a good running game, good.

Yay,, the season is beginning in a week; NOT
fair enough, they could change the QB situation dramatically by signing Newton...but this seems very low probability

Stidham is the key. The AFCE has 3 QB's with promise and one journeyman. Allen and Darnold have more experience and a higher draft pedigree than Stidham but are both still unknowns. Do they take that 3rd year leap or stall and keep Bills/Jets from making any improvement? A Super Bowl does not appear to be in the cards but a division title is certainly an achievable goal.

Hey, I was really trying with the front seven and WR group. I was really trying to spin it the best I could. ;)
Well, we used to have the best helmets and uniforms in the sport.

Up until 1993.

which i cant even remember his name... :(

BB and Ernie Adams are still the dynamic duo. A coaching staff that is mostly still intact from winning 12 games in 2019. BB always has people in the pipeline that have been groomed and ready to move up to fill vacant positions or they move laterally to coach at new positions. The very few outside the walls of Foxboro drive people that are hired virtually always fit.

Kraft is still an influential NFL owner and committed to winning. Not every NFL owner is. Some do not spend to the cap and others interfere with football operations.

The Pats system and culture is still a winning formula after 20 years. Weve heard new players laud how markedly different it is to be affiliated with a first class franchise like the NEP - the practices, atmosphere inside the building, study habits, weight room work ethic and even the food thats fed to staff and players.

So the criticism of his play is getting to him. The dude can’t get open naturally with athleticism alone. That’s not a good sign in the NFL. He will have to do what other receivers who had similar measurable athletic traits did to get open - learn to use his body more. If a corner is on your outside shoulder and you’re running an in-breaking route, lean into him before you make your break.

I think he was also hobbled after he came down awkwardly on that one elevated catch he looked much more explosive prior to that

1. Still 6 time Super Bowl champs.
2. Still have the one true GOAT in charge of the team, which is all we really need.

He was?

What if our younger QB doesn't hold back our younger WRs from developing?

IMO, health at O line, FB, and the development, acquisition or drafting of a sold TE are the keys.
