It’s a 90 man roster. There are going to be hundreds of worse players under contract around the NFL in a couple months.

Most of those worse players are at least undrafted rookies, not over 30 with the opposite of upside.

Suh and Winston: no thanks. Both are anathema to BB style. Penalty and turnover machines.

Like your thoughts about TEs & Wolfe Griffin.

Folk is ok alternative if ghost not healthy. If he recovered, I prefer ghost
I'm hoping we go with Bass or Blankenship

I'd like to see them sign some of the players on this list but fear they only have enough cash
to sign second and third stringers.

Extend Gilmore would be the smart move and trade Hightower to get rid of salary.
If the Patriots trade Hightower they would save $8.9 million, offensive tackle Marcus Cannon would save $3.8 million, Sanu would save $6.5 million, cornerback Jason McCourty would save $4 million. Stephen Gostkowski would save $3.9 million.

They'll keep Sanu because the 2nd round pick optics will sting. K Nick Folk performed well and would be inexpensive. I like Jason McCourty but he might be a luxury. So........o.k. keep Sanu and McCourty. You have a better tackle on the street in Kelvin Beachum who's younger than Cannon and can play both Tackle slots.
I see $16.6 million that buys you Beachum, Falk, Wolfe, Higgins (who might now be the best WR left reasonable), Correa and yes........although I hate this movie I think if you extend Gilmore, you pick up Winston. That would be a BB move of all BB moves that would cause a stir. What if Josh and BB could have the former Buc QB out-perform TB?

You don't think Winston would lower his ask to start here? He has talent, he just needs to grow up. BA was like an understanding uncle with him. BB will be a drill Sargent. The kid threw over 5,000 yards with a crap OL and got sacked 47 times. He threw 33 TDs (much better WR room though)

Jmac isn't going anywhere he's low on the cap he brings up Devs level.
Devin said his ultimate reason in resigning with the Pats is playing with his brother.

I like Wolfe.

What about Shelby Harris? Another contributor from Denver last year who played well at a similar position.

Having Bentley as your top ILB is probably a bad idea.

We’d have to cut Thuney or Gilmore to fit Clowney in. It’s not gonna happen. We have slightly more than 2 mill in cap space now. FA is over for us, now must depend on the draft. The players are going to be available for Belichick to improve the offense. Now it’s just up to him to actually pick those players. Team needs explosiveness in the WR & TE positions. Need a speed receiver who is also a return man. And a TE that can open up the middle. Preferably a double dip at both positions. Unfortunately, that opportunity has been available to Belichick for 2 years, and outside of Harry, he really hasn’t taken advantage. I have zero faith he will take the right TE or WR. He’s been horrible at drafting the last few years.

He really needs the offensive version of the 2012 draft. We needed defensive playmakers and he took Jones & Hightower. Two years lasted, they won the Super Bowl. Need the offensive version of that draft. A good pass catching TE and a vertical WR.

we have 7mil now. An Edelman trade gets us to 14. A Ghost release get us to almost 18. James white getting moved gets by to 23. A Thuney extension gets us to 30.

there are plenty of other ways to add cap space as well. We are not going to miss on players due to money.

Really looked good in 2019.

Sounds like we’re more interested in Wolfe per reports.

Which is fine by me. Wolfe has a stronger track record over his career.

The Patriots have signed former Jaguars safety Cody Davis, according to his agent, Jordan Woy. The 30-year-old Davis has played for the Rams (2013-2017) and Jaguars (2018-2019), and is mostly known for his special-teams prowess. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Davis, who led the Jaguars with 10 special teams tackles in 2018 and was second on the team in 2019 with six, blocked an extra point and caught a pass on a fake punt last year. He will be in the mix to replace the departed Nate Ebner.

i like Wolfe, Eifert, and especially Higgins.

Thus far, we have three safetys that are special teams players and not much else.

Why James Ferentz? Because we had to start him at center a few games last year.

David Andrews is coming off IR due to blod clots in the lungs. Not a guarantee that he is ready to play.
Ted Karras is a Dolphin.
James Ferentz is an UFA.

We don't have a center on the roster that I am aware of. Unless you count versatility of players like Froholdt (also IR).

I think we need some depth here.

James Ferentz will eventually be re-signed. I don't think there is a brisk market for him.
Not even the former Patriot head coaches.

There will be an additional Game Day backup required on the OL. I'd say that a backup center is that player. Besides, Ferentz was already that player in 2019.

I believe bb will draft a center in this draft.

the two best, Ruiz and crushenberry will be gone by the third round, but Hennessy from temple blakitz from Wisconsin should be.

The NFL Physicians Society has said that there will be no more NFL physicals right now so that doctors can focus their attention on the ill. This second wave might be waiting a long time to get signed.

OJ, This is a funny Draft class. The first part of the first round seems like "play now" guys. The second tier seems to extend from the middle of Round one to the top of Round three. After that is a crapshoot and no one exceeds the next guy in value sufficiently.

Still believe that BB dumps his picks to move up as Plan A. The end of Round three is O.K. but no guarantees. If that is the case he is going QB hunting. The bar is set so low for the Pats now, they might as well dip their feet in. The Fan base might even buy into this move.

Here are the possibilities: He has to wait until the Lions pick before he throws down his cards. If the Phins smell a big move they will offer the 5th pick and 26th pick in the first round to the Lions for the 3rd pick and perhaps a Lions 4th (pick #109) back. The Phins can go two ways. They can then take Tua or wait on the 5th picks and take either Tua if available or Herbert.

We go get the Giants pick at a cost through Judge. It would be a haul of picks for the new Giants regime. But they have their QB. It will cost us plenty but if BB smells franchise actual TB replacement not named Stidham, he might bite.

Why the Giants? Because the Lions pick is too costly at #3. Judge can use a plethora of Draft picks.

You could package #23 in the first and your three 3rd rounders (two were comp picks remember) at 1,123 points. PLUS it might cost you 2021 first round pick (ouch). This gets us to near 2,200 points for the 4th pick in the Draft. If Josh and BB think the TB guy is there this year, take a shot. Josh should have a key input as a possible BB replacement sooner rather than later. He wants to anoint the QB....NOW.

Cousins, first round picks on the Pats are usually tradable fodder so what the hell.
We have enough trade wampum in Rounds 4-7 to move up some if there is a gotta-have-em guy.

We again should have a load of Comp picks in 2021. The first-rounder loss hurts but does not put us in Draft hell.
Or do we gamble we can get Lawrence in 2021?.....Nyet!

If Tua or Herbert come through that door now was it worth it?

Plan B
he trades #23 to get into that 2nd round territory BO is in Fan base trouble in Houston with "0" first round picks.

I would trade #23 for Houston's #40 and #57 and maybe throw in one of our 6ths as the Texans have none in that round.

Thoughts?
